New Video card rocks!

Post by HurricaneBob »

Since im not building a new computer till next xmas i wanted to upgrade my vid for 3d gaming since i have agp. I found a card that is very overclockable and stable in the heat field. eVGA GeForce 6800 GS CO 256MB AGP w/DVI/TV-OUT. This card out of the box will run Half Life 2 and BF2 on high settings providing you have processor and memory, at least 2.4 1gig. Minimum 350 PSU.
But if you like to tweak as i do and run full out. Download Riva tuner,
http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/ This utility can overclock your card and open up hidden pipelines and vertex shaders, and controls fan settings. I opend 4 more pipelines to 16, and 1 vertex shader.

The card stock is:
Core Clock
400 MHz I Overclocked to 502 MHz
Memory Clock
1100 MHz I Overclocked to 1202 MHz
This brought me up to the rating of the 7800 card which is $80 bux more.

I always monitor the bios of the card and there is no great heat increase when running intense 3d.

Another cool tool to run with your card is http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/rthdribl/
Just to see how beefy you can run.

Cool, thanks for the links man! Nice card btw. I'm running the GeForce 6600GT and it's nice but, I want to overclock and see how it works for me.
If youth knew; if age could.
