in Nicklewound and Stainless Steel strings?

Does one sound better than the other? I have never used stainless steel strings, only ever nickel wound.

Input?

Stainless steel strings are brighter and to me they feel rougher. I like nickel coated strings on my guitars and stainless steel strings on my basses.

As OK said, steels are brighter. I find that nickels are more "organic" sounding and have a dirty low-mid growl to them. I prefer steels on active basses, nickels on passives, and nylon-coated on fretless.

Stainless doesn't corrode and will last longer than nickel. They're great for bass players who only want to buy 1 set per decade. Well, maybe not that long.
