Things to do at Wal-Mart

Post by moxham123 »

Things to do at Wal-Mart while your spouse/partner is taking their sweet time:

1. Get 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in peoples' carts when they aren't looking.
2. Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.
3. Make a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the rest rooms.
4. Walk up to an employee and tell him/her in an official tone, 'Code 3' in housewares and see what happens.
5. Go the Service Desk and ask to put a bag of M&M's on lay away.
6. Move a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.
7. Set up a tent in the camping department and tell other shoppers you'll invite them in if they'll bring in pillows from the bedding department.
8. When a clerk asks if they can help you, begin to cry and ask 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?'
9. Look right into the security camera; use it as a mirror, & and pick your nose.
10. While handling guns in the hunting department, ask the clerk if he knows where the anti- depressants are.
11. Dart around the store suspiciously loudly humming the Mission Impossible theme.
12. In the auto department, practice your Madonna look using different size funnels.
13. Hide in a clothing rack; when people browse through, say PICK ME!
14. When an announcement comes over the loudspeaker, assume the fetal position and scream "NO! NO! It's those voices again!!!!
15. Go into a fitting room and shut the door and wait a while; and then yell, very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here!"

I'd rather not go to Wal-Mart!! I do my best to not giving them any of my money!! I wish others would do the same. Wal-Mart is killing the economy in this country and people flock to it just to save a couple pennies.

Sorry, I know that it was just a joke - but Wal-Mart really pisses me off.

Wal-Mart is the Evil Empire

Post by Baceman Spiff »

I couldnt agree more. Its so cheap because they buy almost everything from China. Not to mention all the forest land they level to build the damn things. Ive heard they have a 'green program' where they purchase forest land elsewhere and save it as a nature preserve, for every acre of land they put the stores on. (read that in a national park magazine) But that doesnt replace the natural habitat that was destroyed. Im not even going to get into the music censorship....But hey yeah Id like to put a bag of M&M's on layawy that would be funny. I wonder how many people have tried this, since that list was first circulated.

+1

I always feel dirty after I shop there. I try to only shop at Wal-Mart if I really have to. I'm all about capitalism, but Wal-Mart is what happens when capitalism goes wrong.

I wish that I could afford not to shop at Wal*Mart, but it's a fact that it's not just saving me a few pennies. It's a difference of $20-$40 a week. This is even with me working at a decent job and getting a good paycheck. It's just too expensive to live sometimes. I don't even eat junk food or anything either.

I know that they like it in Walmart if you go into the store with a notepad and paper and start copying down their prices, they really like that. (I learned about this when I worked in retail a few years ago.)

When I was on vacation in Florida last week, the folks I was staying with lived a block away from the Zephyrhills Super-Walmart. What a zoo! If folks in the Altoona area think our Walmart gets crowded during holiday season, it's like that at the Zephyrhills Walmart every day! (And this was just my observation sitting in the parking lot, I didn't even go into the store itself - I heard you have to wait 20 minutes in line just to get out the door after you check out!)

I haven't been to Wal-Mart in 2 years, and I refuse to go. Even if the prices are higher, I'd rather support the "Mom & Pop" stores that provide personal service and are fighting just to stay open.

i like to go to walmart cause you can get everything you need in one trip.
But in another note ever notice how RUDE their employees are.. i mean its just ridiculous...... WTF are they working with public if they are gonna be assholes! Ever try to ask one for help.... talk about attitude. They probably are thinking "go the F*ck home so i can walk around here and not have to do nothing but look like i stocking shelves"

dont forget that they were the ones who got busted for all the illegal immigrants working for them.

I only go because the wife drags me. Of course I tell everyone how much I hate it while I am there. The thing with my thought process is that I hated it, worked their, now I hate it even more .. Seeing it from the inside make one dispise it at a level that is unthinkable.

Back when I was making plans to go back to school, I decided to apply for a job at the Clearfield Supercenter. It's one of the few places around here you can get hired at without having the right last name (though nepotism does still play a part, and nepotism is the only way to get hired at the distribution center). I made it to my second interview, and was told that they couldn't get a hold of any of my references. I had to take that O'Ryan (sp?) test, which is basically a subjective personality test that Wal-Mart uses to make sure that you're a good little follower who cannot think for him/herself. They never did call me back for my third interview. After I sat and did the math, I laughed my ass off when I figured out that I could make just as much, if not more money, off of music if I went back to gigging than I would have made at Wal-Mart. They would have also had me working at night, which would have made school very hard. I actually celebrated not getting hired.

Frank, as a former employee, you garner the same silent recognition that accompanies a vet who has seen significant action. Everyone knows that you've seen some shit, but everybody respects you enough not to ask about it. :D I've heard how shitty Wal-Mart is to work for.

I buy the majority of my groceries at my local grocery store and Martin's...I go to Wal-Mart on occasion only because it's open 24 hours. If any other department store was open at 2:30 a.m., I'd go there in a heartbeat, even if Wal-Mart is cheaper. I can't afford the extra money, not many I know can - but for me, it would be the principle of the thing. My first real paycheck job was in a store sort of like a Wal-Mart, by the name of Laneco - I was hired before they'd even opened and set up shelves, racks, checked in merchandise, put prices on it, every aspect of setting up a store one can think of. They were a grocery store as well...I don't even know if any are still around, in PA any way. My sympathies go out to anyone who is a cashier.
I much preferred what's called "floor work", stocking shelves, etc., as being a cashier I learned that there were customers, no matter how nice we were to them, were total and utter assholes. However, we weren't allowed to be disrespectful and told that within reason, "the customer is always right"...boy, how times have changed in 25 years!!! (I experienced my very first "frozen shoulder" due to moving merchandise along with my left hand and operating the cash register with my right - there was no conveyor belt to move merchandise along...ah, memories of "good times"!)

It's a money grubbing, slave labor, put the small companies out of business, monopolizing, garbage pile. I won't go into any more details, other to say that the fact of them putting a Wal-Mart in pine croft is a crock of crap. There is no reason to have one there. That will be less than ten minutes away from the last one and make a total of five with in a 30 minute drive of where I live.

I like to refer to Wal-Mart as corporate welfare. The reason for that is because everyone who works there has to have a medical card and food stamps to survive. Sure they offer benefits. The thing with that is that they charge way too much. When I was working there I was payimg 150.00 every two weeks out of my pay for me a lone. If I would have had it for my family I wouldn't have had a pay check ..

The only good thing that one in pine croft will create is the lack of monkeys at the zoo they have in Altoona.. I was yelling at the new store manager last week about how much I despise that place. More over the fact of how dirty it is, that place if filthy, the one I worked at in state college could have been serving the food off the floor, it was so clean. Although, it didn't match the one in St. Marries for cleanliness, either way, the one in Altoona is a cesspool. Needless to say, Mr. Kane was about to tell me to shut up …

I do have to admit that I do shop there, like stated before, only because the wife has to drag me there. But if it came to a regular dept. store or Wal-Mart, I would chose a dept. store any day ..

They could use a Wal-mart in Tyrone, not Pinecroft. Also, Wal-Mart started as a small business and built it's way to the top. I don't find anything wrong with that. Obviously they aren't slave drivers, you have a choice to work there. They aren't a monopoly either, they own Wal-Mart and Sams Club. Sams Club is "In business for small business" so apparently they are doing what they can to help the little man. Everything is made in China anymore, so that's nothing new. They know how to run a business and Sam Walton knew what he was doing when he built the franchise. As for the workers, it's up to them to decide if they want to work there for the pay. There are plenty of other jobs out there.

By the way, I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing, I'm just looking at it from another angle- other than the HATE, NAZI, EVIL CORPORATE angle. :D
