Quadrophenia...the lost classic...
Back in '73, when Keith Moon was still in good shape and the bloody Who was on top, they did a masterpiece called Quadrophenia. A few of us grew up with this crazy view of the world, but I'd call this album the most balls to the wall growing up album ever made. Unfortunately, there were no real big hits from it, so it remains a cult album. Any bloody metal types or balls to the wall punk types should study this artwork in order to appreciate the balls it has. Right now, I'm fucking bleeding a bit, and screaming along with it, but thats the way its always been with me...fuckin A...
Dr. Jeffery and Mr. Jeff ...when I'm pilled I don't notice him...he only comes out when I drink my Gin...
What is it ? I'll take it...
Anyway...Quadrophenia rules and those not familiar with it should check it out....Townshend's most brilliant work.
I'm going back soon...to get that baboon...who tore up my eye...tore up my levis. I'm feeling restless, bring another score around.... maybe something stronger could really hold me down.
What is it ? I'll take it .
Who is she , I'll rape it
Got a bet there, I'll meet it
Gettin high, ya can't beat it!
...
I see a man without a problem...
I see a country always starved...
I hear the music of a heartbeat..
I walk and the people turn and laugh....

I gotta agree with ya Wolf. It was one of there lesser known works. I do hear Love Rain on Me on the air from time to time.
If you do a little more research there was a movie rock opera made to go with it which never attained the fame of Tommy.
This is one of my favotie Who works.
Actually around the mid 70s I purchased a Quadrophonic Amplifier in State College which was pretty high tech. for it's day.
Thanks for that memory and sitting in for NS.

I saw it at the Forum at PSU about 20 years ago. People were lined up with USAF jackets and striped sneakers. Kind of a cult movie. I wasn't as enthralled with the movie as with the album, though. It wasn't a musical like Tommy and the soundtrack had a lot of late 50s and early 60s stuff mixed in with the album.FretBored wrote:If you do a little more research there was a movie rock opera made to go with it which never attained the fame of Tommy.

Lonewolf, it may have taken TWENTY Beers, but I have to tell you, I'm PROUD OF YOU!!!
BStaller...age is simply a number!
Take me, for instance...I say I'm 21 with "almost" 22 years experience! Besides, current high school students read "A Clockwork Orange"!

(While I realize this may take another 20 Beers..."PSSSST!"...What do you think of ELO's "Eldorado"?

I agree (or at least my mind agrees) age is only a number, but my body has it's own idea's!YankeeRose wrote:Lonewolf, it may have taken TWENTY Beers, but I have to tell you, I'm PROUD OF YOU!!!![]()

Although I really liked ELO, I'm not familiar with "Eldorado"

I bet Lonewolf does though!

Quadrophenia rocks! Lots of great songs there. One of my all-time favorite Who songs is "Bell Boy". It's funny and sad and dead serious all at once, and the guitar fanfare sends a chill down my spine every time! (Also neat . . . in various productions of Quadrophenia, the Bell Boy character has been played by Sting and Billy Idol!)
