THE VENGEANCE OF CARL LEE HAS BROKEN ALREADY

Post by JustinGelvin »

Without a doubt the last months of playing music have been the best time ive had as a musician. Ive met so many people that would do anything to help you succeed. As much as it crushes me to set here and type these words i guess it has to be said.

The Vengeance of Carl Lee is ending before their beginning. Even though, we have a pretty decent schedule and probally some of the most important shows of our lives to this point. You ask why? I have no answer. I really wish i knew but i really dont have an answer. Two key members of the band have lost interest and dont care to participate in what we have built. Maybe some of you dont think we have built anything. I have put everything i can into TVOCL and for me it was my life. I put numerous hours online, on the phone, practicing, or anything else i could do to give us the oppertunity to be heard. Now everything seems as if it was a waste.

I hope the people who enjoyed our music will follow us with what we pursue in the future. As hard as it is to end your "family" and build another it has to be done. I put everything i had into this band, and now ive lost it all. Hopefully, this time i can find people with the dedication and the will to suceed such as i have.

THIS MAY SEEM LIKE SHIT TO YOU BUT ITS EVERYTHING TO ME

Justin

Sorry to hear that guys!!....but don't let it get ya down...sometimes change is good....one thing I've learned in life is, "Everything happens for a reason. You don't know why now, but you will later". You can't start a new project till ya finish an old one!....Best of luck to all of ya in whatever you get into. Keep in touch!

Sorry to read the news. :( As Trucula said, and speaking from experience, the one thing I've learned in life is: "Everything happens for a reason. You don't know why now, but you will later." It may not feel like it could ever be possible, but one day you may look back on it as one of the best things that could have happened. Best wishes to you!

That really does suck, but trust me, keep your head up and your eyes and ears open. When we were doing our most touring, our bass player at the time announced that he simply couldn't do it anymore. He was living in Cincinnati going for his masters, driving 5 hours home to New Castle to simply jump in a van and drive another 4-5-6 hours to New York or Boston or some other gigantic drive just because he loved playing and music. Since we're a 3 piece, losing one guy is 1/3 of your band, so we were screwed instantly. Luckily, we made one call, and he's been rolling with us ever since. We were actually playing overlapping shows with 2 different bass players! I guess what I'm saying is, for every great thing that happened to us in the last 16 years, 3 bad things happened, and we still managed to keep alive, so don't give up!

Yeah, I don't even take it personally anymore. I'm just as likely to move on as anyone, so I can't lay blame. I was just wondering how many folks I've officially played in a band with, over 22 years... even though many projects reused members from other bands, I'd still say at least 40 people. I'll have to sit down and write it out to be sure.
Point is, lineups change, music evolves, dreams mature. I never held someone's desire to have a successful family against them, it's the one thing more important than music to me. Your family ALWAYS trumps your band.--------->JMS

Here, Here songsmith ! Your family ALWAYS trumps your band !

Those words are my thoughts exactly. We just lost our frontman recently for that very reason and he left on good terms so he is welcome to come out anytime he wants to and sing a song or two at a show with us ! We found a new frontman who is great and is doing a awsome job for us so it all worked out just fine . Embrace change and it'll embrace you back. I hope ya get something worked out soon and once again , best of luck man!

Best of luck to you man! It sounds as if you truly were committed to your
project, and had very high hopes. Someone else mentioned the word shit!

I agree. I never get upset over bands breaking up. I always know that there's another project down the road. Most bands eventually breakup. I always say that if you can get a project to last for three years, then you've done pretty good. Give yourself an extra pat on the back if you lasted that long with all of the original members.

And yes, family should always come before a band.
