Payroll

Yeah the refs were on the payroll, with that I agree. It is funny how people can see things so differently! They were on the payroll but did they need to wear the "black & Gold" hats?

honestly, when the Steelers QB "scored" that TD, man....it didnt look in to me at ALL. He moved it at the last second after he was down, but whatever. Maybe my eyes are just bad.

We're talkin longest run in Super Bowl history. We're talking 5 catches 123 yards and a TD. What did Seattle do? Nothing....even if the refs we're better. There were a couple calls that were bad but there was no way they swayed the game that much. Seattle plain lost.

I got to agree SpellBound. I don't think the ball was over the goal line.

That phantom holding call when Seattle could of been 1st and goal at the 1 yard line, and could've taken a 17-10 lead was HUGE!

But hey, I'm just a Viking fan. What do I know....

I agree with you on that. But, we beat them by 11. One touchdown wasn't gonna win it for them. It was just the Steelers' year! They beat us in total yards even. It was just our year.

The push off call was bullshit too, that was a take back score for Seattle.Whatever,I don't give a shit anyways, the Steelers played a better game in the 2nd half,I'll give them credit there.

The only call I thought the officials got wrong was the one Seattle hold in the second half, which brought back the play that would have put the Hawks on the Steelers' 1. I thought Ben's TD in the first half was legit (at least from the angle shown on TV, the ball barely broke the plane of the endzone). I thought the officials had it right the rest of the way.

Bottom line, SCOREBOARD - ONE FOR THE THUMB!

I wish they would have put the yellow marker they use for 1st downs on the goal. this might have shown better.

I do agree it was a good game. They have been trying to get one for the thumb for some time now. Any predictions for next year?

The touchdown did look legit. It's not getting the ball in the end zone, it's merely touching that white line and the ball did it, just for a second but it touched. The push off was sketchy but, he did push off right in front of an official. There are a million if's that could determine a game (rember the whole Patriots dynasty began with the "Tuck Rule") but, they are if's and nothing else. Only fact about the game that counts:

21-10

Super Freakin' Bowl champs!!!!!!

And that's all that matters now.

Oh, and Steve Young said something that I clearly agree with about this game:

"Obviously the Super Bowl was won in Indianapolis and Denver but, what a great run by the Steelers."

The calls the Steelers got Sunday were just kharma evening the score from the bad calls during the playoffs.

I think Ben had a poor game throwing, but made enough crucial plays (like converting a 3rd and 28 to Hines) to keep his head up. I think he will playing with something to prove next year, so look out.

I am glad they gave MVP to Hines, he did deserve it.

The steelers were supposed to win that game so Jerome Bettis can retire with a super bowl win in his home town. Did you really think seattle had a chance. Also if u take away Ben's Touchdown. The Seahawks kicker would have to make both the field goals in order to win. Which he didn't. And also may i point out the lame call when hasselback went for the tackle after he threw the interception and they called him on blocking below the waist for another 15 yards for the penalty. First off how is he blocking when he is making the tackle. The ref really blew and i was afraid something like this was going to happen. Seems lately alot of games are being blamed on the refs for good reasons.

For those who feel Seattle got duped in a few calls, I'd like to point out the non-call on the Herndon interception.

As Herndon was making the return, Rothliesberger had a chance to make a play around the 50, but was blatently given an illegal block in the back and taken out of the play.

Instead of starting around the Pittsburgh 20, they should have started at their own 40. Had that call been made, Seattle probably wouldn't even have scored 1 touchdown.

Hugh Millen, announcer for Seattle, had some interesteing things to say about the game today on WDVE. He said that every game ends in the score that it should have been. Also, he said this is because if you look at every "missed" call you will see missed plays and other things that where just as important to the loss (like a team getting outgained 400-200 and winning because of special teams).

Pumpkinhead is right about the Roethlisberger touchdown and the push off in the beginning. The ball only has to pass the white line. It doesn't have to end there. And the push off is correct also but could have been an overlooked call.

i love the "it doesn't matter now" and the "that's just the way it is, so accept it" theory. we should all apply that logic to bar owners and the plce. the bitch with that thinking is it only works when you get what you want.

It's not accept it when it's not over with. You can't change a score in a game that's over. You can change a bullshit law that has no business of being.

One other thing that can't be lost on this game is the job Ike Taylor did on Darrell Jackson. He had 5 catches for 50 yards midway through the 2nd and finished with that. Ike had him 1 on 1 most of the night and shut his ass down (they rolled the coverage to Deshea Townsend's side most of the night).

I agree! The ball only has to break the plane of the goal line, which is the beginning of the white line, not the whole way across the white line.
