i know theres room for all genres. I just think metal needs to return as a bludgeoning force. I like other styles of music! Its just been too long since metal was in its prime.....and its PRIME TIME.

My other project, "Condemned Existence" will also hopefully fight the good fight as a live monster soon.

There are some badass original metal bands around now, and they deserve support! thats all im saying.

The fist-in-the-sky kids have an uphill climb around here, maybe more so that when I started. Back then, it was so "out there," that they had no idea what to expect, and while noise complaints were many, noise violations were few. Bars were much cooler about underage performers, loud PA, and such, and while ass-beatings were abundant then, metal detectors were not.
The other part of the battle is the karaoke/dj thing, and the rise of hip-hop as the music of youth. Rap was around when I started, but it wasn't really the huge influence they now claim it was... that happened in the late 80's, early 90's.
Plus, kids have more to do now. They don't think so, but take away everything from internet to XBox to DVD's to cellphones to freakin' 300 cable TV channels, and they'd know what true mind-numbing, sandbag-on-your-face boredom really is. But I digress.
I LOVE metal. Well, lots of it, anyway (go see Coinmonster), and it treated me very nicely. I'd like to see it make it's triumphant return, but it's not gonna be easy. Then again, you knew that! ----->JMS

I think original heavy metal in this area has a good foundation currently. One Gun Salute, Choking Faith, Dragon Fire, House Of Cain, Killjingle, Second Offense, Flord, Suicide Switch, Inversion and more; you could probably lump 4 Days Dirty and The Grimm along with that grouping (if The Grimm is still together, I haven't heard the word on what they are doing since Scott's departure)...and I'm sure there will be more. Just keep the faith and keep putting some quality product out there on stage and CD. I think the area's original metal scene is healthy and getting healthier.

Plastered Bastards aren't a metal band, but we are currently trying to book a couple of shows there before we leave for a tour of Europe,we have been talking with Chapter 5.We just booked them to play down here and they are trying to lineup a show or two for us there.
But I support the Altoona scene because I'm from there and their are some really good bands.
Cheers!!!!!!!

long time

Post by JeffLeeper »

I've been doing this for a very long time , and while the popular music scene changes now and then , all kinds of music have a good home right here in Central Pa.

I've been fortunate enough to hear bands like Bad Daze...Hair Force One..
Never Enough...the list goes on....but all these guys take their music seriously and do a heck of a job.
We're doing something pretty different...Motown , Blues Brothers...but we've found a nice following , too.

Regardless of what you may think , and whether opportunities present themselves to play , the people love what we're all doing.

James Jamerson and Donald "Duck" Dunn are two of my favorite bass players of all-time!!!

Sort of. I was told they said that on stage recently. Thanks for the plug, though, guys. It's appreciated. Mistress is around. She works odd hours. I'm sure she'll be by at some point.

yeah we need to start having metal original shows at all ages venues like the lions den, if that happens Eyes of Anguish would love to show Altoona what they're all about.. very few rockpagers have seen the insanity of the E.o.A live show, damn lack of all ages venues/shows in Altoona area.

lets get this shit going
