Funny how stuff comes up now....,,, all i was trying to say is that hairforceone sounds pretty good... at Westmont Gardens anyway..yes better.. but they have better eupipment at Westmont Gardens....I see alot of bands....believe me.... and if you (as in the band ) don't quit this high school bull s***...then you will go nowhere....give you guys three months and you will fall apart if you don't straighten this out. Good Luck,

I will say it one more time, I don't mean to cause a riot here.
I was not ranting in my earlier post. But it did answer a question I had on why the music scene isn't any better in this area.

People don't really listen to each other (or obviously read each others thoughts) enough to realise what they are actually trying to say.

I gave what I thought was information. not an opinion.

To JOYRIDE:

I couldn't tell if you agreed with me or not in your reply, but you got what I was trying to say all wrong. I don't have a problem with house engineers. I'm just saying that maintaining a sound system with no budget is something you guys don't have to worry about. Not a bad thing, is it?
And I also have worked with a number of really nice people (musicians) in the past and will continue to do so in the future. I am not saying that all bands are bad or hard to work with.

To Jimi Hatt:

I agree with you bud. I personally thought that this was a trash soundguys in general thread. Thats why I'm here, I think everyone should know that we are just a-holes. I mean as a bass player I think that most of us engineers don't give me enough bottom, the guitar player in me wants to here more 1.25k and as a vocalist I would like to hear someone else singing. But then I as myself running sound for all of me would probably tell me that if I didn't try to be the whole band I wouldn't suck so much!
I have to agree with you that everyone here knows everyone else here and my name is my username. If you write something that takes balls cool!! I applaud you but if you can't put your name on it you have no creditability.

People in the future don't take things, or yourself so seriously

Listen up!!!.... take this seriously....quit all this high school bull shi*..get it together or die.... i know plenty of sound guys and they make at least $40 a night min.... those who take it for free should only for a couple of months.... rock on....eqipment is an investment and should be taken seriously (other than Westmont Gardens, Pellagreen's Aldo's, and Shooter's, where the sound eqip. is (" in house"...). Good luck with all this bull shi*.... If you don't keep business, pleasure, and money separate then you need to look at yourself again... i do this for pleasure and i've been around to see enough bands fail and succeed... i also do this on my own free will and will continue to do so.... because i love the music .... grow up......how old are you ....25...grow up...there is a real world out there....BANG

first of all since when does Pellies have in house sound? which shooters are you talking about? And where do they hide this stuff when I go in to set up? Maybe they are afraid????

next- If one guy in the band should own all the sound equipment does that mean that he is the boss? I have a small penis and a big bass and I think that everyone in the band should bow down to my awsomeness, AND I want ALL of that whopping $300.00 we made tonight. If'n you don't like it- get your own damn equip.

What is the record number of pages for one of these threads? I love playin with the kids so I will continue to instigate until I have reached the record?

Come on guys! I think that some negativity has crept upon us. The thread was meant to help us all. Also it would be a great idea to help newer sound guys get some experience from the guys who are doing it now. I hear talk of a close knit community and I believe that is so, so let's be constructive! Let's help to make the scene better! We can pull together and help to educate and enhance everyone's place in the local scene! If we all work together and toward a common goal mybe we can even get aja a full time gig! Just kiddiing on that last part, I couldn't help myself! Sorry aja! But I was serious about the rest!

With 116 replies and 3 pages, looks like Aja's "Singer who is getting discouraged" thread holds the record....unless other threads previous were purged. ;) You got a ways to go, if you want to set a record.

I don't get to see too many sound guys anymore because I gig 5 to 6 days a week. I have a few favorites. The guy that runs for Backstreet Law is really good (Damn, I can't remember his name) and Dave Nagle is another one of my favorites. Flight 19's sound guy impressed me last night. I HAVEN'T HEARD YOU MIX YET GENE. My favorite though is one of the best kept secrets around, Chris Knapik. He runs sound for my band Retroactive. Oh yeah, one more. Ray (last name?) who did some shows for us before we got Chris, is just sick with his low end. Every time I hit my kick drum, my teeth would rattle. Damn was his low end amazing.

Sorry but no record seeking here! I really just want to get an idea of how many good mixers there are out there. Frayed would like to get someone involved in the band who could be familiar with the music and do the mixes on a regular basis. It seems like there are really just a few who are recommended. I will not post anymore on this topic but anyone wants to talk or has info email me!

Worthy's Sound And Lighting gets my vote !

They have done a great job for Scream over the years ,and also done great for us also( Sound Of Silence ). Lee Worthy (owner) is a true pro and all around great guy, close friend and is very serious about sound and lights but not to serious to still have a little fun right along with ya ! He has been to my home on numerous occasions and helped us out with getting things right and show'n us the ropes as well as some tricks on how to get it right ! We try to keep everything independent to ourselves as much as possible , it saves money for other things like equipment crap'n out and of course beer and food for everyone who helps out and not to mention gas. We are all close friends and don't really care about gett'n rich off of playing out so the money goes back into the kitty and is always there if someone needs some extra cash for something .The guy we have running sound is learn'n the ropes quickly because we know what we like and he has gotten to spend some time with a real sound guy who showed him alot. We have no complaints about him, nor do we get much annoying feedback for that matter, GREAT JOB TRAV ,you get better with every show! . I guess it's all in what you like and how you wanna sound. We own all of our sound equipment along with the trailer to haul it in so we can more or less get it out any time we want to and work on sound so that's a plus .

Like I said "Worthy's Sound And Lighting" gets my vote.
Top of the line equipment, sound, lighting , and most important...people! 8)

Lee Worthy: "Your guitar kinda sounds a little ' tinny ' Jason." Me: " I know Lee ,but that's the way I like it " Lee Worthy: "Hey man it sounds good out here , where's the set list at, lets ROCK ! :D

Bone and Jim from Laurel Highland Sound and Light do an exceptional job everytime.....come out the Culpepper's in Indiana tonight to find out for yourselves....www.lhsoundandlights.com

Also, Ray (onetooloud) did a great job with us at YP one night, and I have never seen or heard anyone just incoherently mumble random numbers into a mic better than him for soundcheck.......

Just curious. How many sound guys out there have had formal training in signal processing or engineering?

How many have related degrees?

Wondered how long it'd take to see Ritt up here.
As for an earlier post mentioning at least $40 a night.........are you serious? I'm thinking most of us won't open the door of the truck for that. I know I won't.

Have to say ditto!...Lee Worthy has the most top equipment I've seen in along time!...Not taking nothing from anyone else, but I know personally what Lee can do. He even rips up an axe too....We played in the same band the 1st time we ever played out (and that was ALONG time ago!)..So I won't say how old we are! :? ...Lee and I went to school togeather and have been friends ever since and has helped us alot of times...We actually have his ol "BASHFUL" system. and when he shows up now and then he can still make it THUMP with out even having the level meters jump! He even makes "Back In Black" sound even more like "AC/DC".
Lee says" SMACK 'em drums Bob!"...I say "It seems too loud". He says "HIT EM!..Let me do the work!"...And he does :!:
Good Job Lee

Ok you're right, I'd open the door and sit on the tailgate and have a beer for $40. Might even mix if someone else unloads the truck and sets everything up.
