What was your first concert?

Post by ChaosRisingRice »

What was your first concert? What do you remember most about it? Also what was your favorite show that you have been to?

LOL my first concert was Aerosmith with Run DMC  When Stephen Tyler came out and Run DMC did Walk this Way was kinda cool. But i had more fun at the metallica show ( because they played all of their old shit) And ozzfest was awesome i would love to go back and see bands play again.

First show I went to was Foo Fighters (haha) in April '96. Favorite show would have to be Ozzfest '97 @ Nissan pavilion. Four of my fav bands were there: Type O Negative, Pantera, Machine Head & Fear Factory!!!! HELL OF A SHOW

Well, that would be the band Chicago in, I believe, 1974. The most memorable thing was the girl standing in front of me with a halter top on that was, let's say a little too big for her. And, oh yeah, the band was great as well!

Iron Maiden, Somewhere on Tour (in support of Somewher in Time) - March 1987. And, with the KI$$ Reunion Tour in 1996, it is to this day STILL the best show I have ever been to.

My first one was either The Outlaws in Johnstown, or Blue Oyster Cult at Rec Hall in St. College. Some band called Duke Jupitor opened for BOC. I wish I could remember the name of the band that opened for The Outlaws because they were a real kick-ass southern rock band. I had an 8-track of them that's long gone, and I'd love to try and find it again. One of the guys names was Brookshire, and they had a song called Moonshine Runner. That's all I can remember! Anyone know who they were? Woulda been around 1980.

This thread has been around not too long ago.

My first was The Buckinghams, which played a homecoming at my rival high school. I was cool, dating a girl from our rival school. The Buckinghams had a hit song called "Kind of a Drag".

My first concert was also Ozzy and Metallica athe the Johnstown War Memorial. Cliff Burton came over and stood right beside me to check out the stage before the show. Also, Ozzy put on a bra that some chick threw on the stage. Cool night.

It would be hard to beat that concert, but the Pink Floyd concert at Three Rivers Stadium (Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour) was pretty damn good too!

My first concert was The Beach Boys and The Left Bank at Johnstown War memorial in 1967. I rember the keyboard player for the Left bank had on these really big bell botom paisley pants that made his legs look like they where made out of rubber. BTW I was straight at that concert. 8)

I think that the first "concert" I saw was Miami Sound Machine in the late 80's!!! (ARGH!) But that was at a county fair so I don't count that!!! I count Danzig at the Airport Music Hall in Allentown, 1990. What a great show!!! There have been alot of great shows since but the best is a tie probably between Saxon at the Penny Arcade in Rochester, NY and Helloween in NYC. Both were in bars, but both were great shows!!!

The first concert I ever saw was Ozzy Osbourne and Motorhead at the Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown in summer 1980. It might have been because it was my first concert and I hadn't been exposed to such volumes before, but for me that show was so loud my ears rang for a full week afterward! I remember hearing nothing but reverb during Motorhead's set, and seeing Lemmy standing up there, singing up into the microphone. Randy Rhoads was playing guitar for Ozzy at that point, he was amazing.

First show, Kix/Krokus/Ted Nugent at City Island in Harrisburg, July 1982. Best?... that's tough... There've been several that changed my direction in life. Priest/Iron Maiden in '82 was amazing... Rush was awe-inspiring... Conway Twitty and I spoke before a show once, and he gave me good advice... Vince Gill did a great show, as did Waylon Jennings... Stanley Jordan made my jaw drop, so did Ladysmith Black Mambazo... and believe it or not, Garth Brooks worked an audience best of anyone I ever saw live, although Ted Nugent and Norman Nardini come close.
I've always listened like a thief, so shows are a learning experience for me as much as entertainment. Still, those classic concert moments are some of my favorite memories. The opening notes of Priest's "The Hellion/Electric Eye"... oh man, did that ever make a redneck farmboy put his fist up and yell.-------------->JMS

My mother took me to see Kiss on the Dynasty tour at the civic arena. And 16 years later, to the very day, I took my cousin to see his first concert. And it just happened to be Kiss on the reunion tour with all of the original members back in the makeup at the mellon arena. It was pretty cool.

Bon Jovi and Skid Row, 1989, Johnstown Point Stadium. Rained like a mother, and JBJ came out in a Steelers jersey singing CCR's "Have You Ever Seen The Rain." I believe SB was arrested after that show ... something to do with a little fracas between him and a security guard, but I could be mistaken.

Kick-ass show ...

Agreed ... caught KISS in the Pittsburgh leg of their "Revenge" tour and it rawked ... Faster Pussycat and, I believe (*shudders*) Trixter opened, then KISS came out and kicked our asses for 2 1/2 hours straight ... unbelievable.

It's tough to pick a favorite show, but the KISS Show was pretty cool, not just because of the show, but I got to meet Gene and then drummer Eric Singer backstage after the show.

my first concert was 'the rolling stones' on their bridges to babylon tour, i forget the year. their show blew me away, to see a bunch of guys that old rockin out so hard, and seein mick and keith's skeletons runnin all over that massive stage was truely amazing. My favorite show would have to have been warped tour 2000, bad religion, nofx, anti-flag, social D, it was just an incredible time.

My first was Ratt and Bon Jovi at the Cambria County War Memorial. I couldn't pick a favorite show...there have been so many great shows over the years. The most memerable event at any concert would have to be the boobs. It's all about the boobs, man.

My first concert was the Eagles at the BJC i was probably 16 or so. I remember they were like an hour and a half late or something. They opened up with Hotel California and played just about every song I hoped they would play. My favorite show is probably Black Sabbath and Pantera at the Civic arena Pantera FN rocked I was hooked after that show

My first concert was Flotsam & Jetsam, Fear Factory, Korn, and Megadeth in that order. It was around 1994.

I'd have to say that my favorite live show is and always will be Clutch.
