JP, that would be a great name for a song or an album.

That would be a great name for the abominable snowman in Rudolph. Or Riot could do a Thundersteel/Thundersnow follow up.

 DOOOOOD I was in ebensburg around 630 heading to a gig in johnstown when i saw lightning in the distance getting closer at this point there was no wind or snow or anything then in a split second my car gets blown into the other lane and I cant see anything!! and im goin about 60 so i put the brakes on slow and prayed not to hit anything i needed gas anyways so i pulled into the gas pumps and when i got out of the car i got blown on my ass i grabbed the door and got back in and had to wait about ten min before i could even get out of the car!!! i figured i was halfway there so i might as well go to j-town so i proceed to get back on the highway at this point it seemed to slow down Wrong!! about two miles down the road complete white out everyone comes to a dead stop and the car in front of me went sideways i put on my brakes and almost hit the median but regained control then a pickup came past and i followed that goin 10 miles an hour till i got to j-town it took me 1 hour and 35 minutes to get there from duncansville!! the stuff ya do to make money!!

The sky has amazed me all of my life and I guess weather always has too.
I have some very cool stuff on tape that I have shot over the years. There is alot of it with wild ass lightning storms and some of it you couldn't picture in your mind if I told ya or you might not belive me unless you seen it for yourself. I can tell this much though, never before have I seen lightning during a freak'n snow storm untill last night  , THAT'S SOME CRAAAAAZY SHIT !

All was quiet last evening, then out of nowhere, you could hear what sounded like a fright train (yeah, that's right ... I said, "fright train") coming over the ridge, then the rain began hitting the side of the house. It was raining sideways. Sounded like 20 garden hoses aimed directly at the house. Weird.

The lightning, thunder and snow were just icing on the cake.

I was in a chat room about an hour after the thundersnow hit our area, talking with some music scene folks in Harrisburg and Scranton (during HBN Radio's "Musician Showcase" program, Tuesday nights 8-10 PM on www.hbnradio.org), and I told the chat room that this storm was headed their way. At the moment, nothing was happening, and then minutes later, both Sherri Mullen and Tina Marie (the current show host) both exclaimed that they were getting snow, lightning and thunder...I told them they could call me "Mr. Weather Channel" for the evening, because I was watching the storm on radar and telling everyone where it would hit next.

The Snow up here - Houtzdale - was
beautiful...huge wet flakes. Nothing in Clearfield? Neat. My kids and I were leaving for the local grocery store and noticed it had started Snowing. The wind was "brisk". It was the best time to do any grocery shopping, the place was nearly empty, chickens! :)

I believe ThunderSnow has a bit more to do with Temperature differentials and in the Southern parts of the state, with how nasty it got, you all were definitely in the right place for it last night.

Ram Z, I hear you...Weather can be quite awe inspiring and amazing at times!

I was in Houtzdale too at the time...just left The Popper. It was quite pretty. Best snowstorm that I can remember. My grandson had just mentioned on our way TO the popper how if someone from the south would come to town, they would really wonder if it was winter because of the fact that there was nothing on the ground...then boom. On the way home he said he shouldn't have said that. lol

Driving in white out was not too bad as long as you took your time and please DO NOT STOP...just move nice and slow and it will be ok. Unless you are pulling over at The Alley Popper to enjoy a cold one while you wait for it to blow over that is.
