Sometimes something can happen that
makes a tune change.
"Dust In The Wind" - Kansas
One of my dad's favorite tunes, it used to make me sad sometimes. Once after a day in Court years ago, I'm driving home, all alone and feeling lost. It started to play on the radio and I had to pull off the road.
I felt like he'd been with me and much better, though. Months later, a friend and I watched "Old School"...now every time I hear it, I still think of my dad, yet I can't help but SMILE and see "Old Blue" at the Piano!
(I told my friend he's going to, or at least wants to "go" like Blue did, heh, heh, heh!)
makes a tune change.

no surrender, we agree on something.
Is the world going to end??? Far more tunes and entire CDs bring me Joy in life rather than make me sad!
Then there's LIVE Music, I swear it literally makes me feel better. I thought maybe I was imagining it, but a friend reminded me of "Harp Therapy", something we'd both heard of and someone else mentioned how certain frequencies, even of the Human Voice, can break Crystal and glass. So, when I say I swear I can sometimes feel Music go through me and it makes me feel better, that might not be too far off the mark after all.
Yes ns, I also agree that many of the 'canes renditions are better than the originals...I'd rather hear them do "Who Wouldn't Want to be Me" than Keith Urban, any day of the week; same with "Heaven", rather than Los Lonely Boys.
There are so many Blues tunes, plus "Dreams I'll Never See" and "Flirtin' With Disaster" - their rendition of the Molly Hatchet tunes, IMO, are also tops...you know what? I could keep typing on this subject, but I'll stop now!

Got to agree Super's door might of swung both ways. I know I would have been all over Lois in my Glasses or Tights! He should have bailed her in the 1st movie.BadDazeRob wrote:It was all a facade. He had to portray himself as sort of an opposite to throw people off. Let's face it, the glasses weren't the best disguise in the world.ToonaRockGuy wrote:I always thought that Clark Kent was a little light in the loafers. It just bugged me.

Still the One by Brighton Rock does it for me. And a by the band Misha Calvin....Put a Little Faith in Me. Both get to me and for very personal reasons. I think Dokken, Alone Again. XYZ, Souveniers. And for sure, Are You Lonesome Tonight by Elvis.
I agree, though, that a song is generally sad because of what you associate with it....a person, a tough time you went through, whatever. Too bad some songs get screwed up by bad memories.

Ditto on the "Personal Reasons".
For me, time has helped to put them in perspective and to leave them all where they belong, in the past. That doesn't mean those "reasons" aren't still a part of my history and in some ways helped to make me who I am, but I've risen above, seen the Light and although some might not believe this, I'm very grateful for where my children and I are at in our lives...we've been through a lot, our lives haven't been easy, but we've also had the times of our lives and a blast over the last 2 1/2 years or so! I'd never want to go back to that point in time when we were supposedly "happy". Plus, now my daughter's future is so bright, she's gotta wear shades.

Highway Song by blackfoot... because my husband at that time dedicated it to my father, who passed away while we were on our honeymoon, since then we became very good friends with the writer, Jakson Spires who passed away a year ago in march. there isn't a day that goes by that i don't think about jak.

we do not stop playing because we grow old
we grow old because we stop playing.
sooo go out and play
we grow old because we stop playing.
sooo go out and play

at my grandfather's funeral, the played a song by Santo & Johnny called "Sleepwalk". it apparently was my grandfather's fav song. when they played that song, the effect it had on alot of people shows you how powerful music is. i think its a really great song, but i associate that song with the movie Sleepwalkers.

Spellbound, at my dad's funeral, at the National Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap, actually - he and my brother's graves are both there, something sort of similar happened. There wasn't a dry eye there. On the day my dad died, 12-30-1989, before I left his hospital room, I had the wheels in motion for a Piper, a Bagpipe Player. A Colonel in the Army dressed in full Highland Regalia, Piped for my father, a Private First Class, Veteran of the Korean War, recipient of the Purple Heart. I'm certain he got a kick out of a Colonel Piping for him! The last 2 tunes played were "Scotland The Brave" and "Amazing Grace", my dad's fav hymn and what he'd always said he'd like to have played if he had a Piper for his Funeral. When we'd recovered from crying, my sister and I gave the Piper the bottle of Scotch we'd bought for him - he said he'd been honored to play for our father and that he'd drink a toast to him that evening. For years I couldn't hear "Amazing Grace" without tearing up, but now I sing along and it gives me great comfort. Actually, more than "sad", I'd say "comfort" is how most of the tunes (Including "Soul Shine".) make me feel even if tears are elicited. Unless I've had a really rough day and I could use their shoulders to lean on, then the floodgates open.
Thank you SpellboundByMetal.

For the reason of a certain memory i have of riding in the car with my mom (on our way to pittsburgh for cancer treatment) and the song came on the radio and i turned it up a lil ..... she said "why do you like this song?" i said i dont know i always did" and she said " you like the same music as i do"... i remember at that moment that i would never forget that.

"He ain't heavy He's my brother"
-the Hollies
So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother
(He) Doesn't weigh me down at all
I'm strong
Strong enough to carry him!
He ain't heavy, he's my brother !
my god beautiful song..
