ANOTHER great week to be a Stillers fan ...
The Chargers exposed the Colts O-line and the Mighty Manning: They do not respond well to pressure and they are beatable, even by a team that's not considered to be among the great teams. The Stillers did not bring the house last time, but even considering that, Indy did not put up 40+ points against them.
The last game was also Ben's first back after a month off from injury (no "experts" have pointed this out yet, nor will they ... we must kiss Peyton Manning's ass constantly and rehash the fact that he is the greatest thing since velcro shoe laces ... makes me wanna puke), so there was no cohesion on O, which I expected before that game started. This game is different, as are the two teams involved in it. LeBeau has a plan — bank on it — and the D has been shutting everything down in the red zone for the past month-and-a-half, week after week.
Worst case scenario, should Indy prevail, Pittsburgh won it's division back from the cocky Bungles (Who dey? We dey!!!) and had an overall great season, considering the injuries at key positions throughout the year.
No one expects the Black and Gold to win, so if they lose it will be no surprise to anyone, but when they win, we die hard fans can say, "told you so."
Steelers — 33
Colts — 10

last year while pittsburgh was 15-1, peyton manning was setting a single season td record..burdman wrote:Hell Yeah i am so sick of hearing about FN Manning, We didnt hear half as much about Pittsburgh last year when we were 15-1.
the patriots were ass raping teams in defense of their super bowl title, something that they could very well do again this year..
the eagles were considered the better PA team.. and they were, they went to the super bowl.
that's why you didnt hear about Pittsburgh
Give me a f%cking break ... the NFC championship game is, by and large, academic, as it will be again this year. The question is, "by how many points will the AFC representative beat the unlucky NFC candidate?"AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:the eagles were considered the better PA team.. and they were, they went to the super bowl.

The only NFC team that sort of scares me (and I pick them to go to the big game) is Carolina. They've been my pick ever since Pittsburgh played them in pre-season. They've got some impressive speed.
BTW, who considered the Eagles the better Pa. team last year? McNabb's mom? Philly didn't have to face an Indy or a New England to get to the Super Bowl last year (they had to face one in the Super Bowl, though, and looky what happened) so the argument that the were better than Pittsburgh because they made it to the SB is BS.
History lesson: Pittsburgh defeated 6-0 NE and 7-0 Philly in back-to-back road games in '04, the first "W" ended the Pats' 21-game win streak and the second was a clinic in how to pick apart a team (Philly) that thinks it's better than it acually is. The Steelers strength (since the opening of Heinz Field) has been playing on the road, which is why I feel so much better about them coming in a 6th seed on the road than I have in years past with home field advantage locked up. Heinz is one of the toughest places to play in the NFL, even for the home team, due in great part to the river effect weather conditions and swirling winds.
Bring on the Colts and then the Pats. This year, Pittsburgh is in a win-win situation, win or lose. They've already accomplished more than the "experts" have given credit for.

Academic? You think Pittsburgh can go into Seattle or Carolina this year and beat them? I fucking doubt it. Carolina is the scariest god damn team in football this year, and Seattle may very well be the best team. By and Large academic? On what scale? The fact that it may be between 2 bad teams? Yeah, it may - but its not like the AFC has had blockbuster conference championships every year since it's inception either. Just a few years back, Oakland raped Tennessee 52-27 in the AFC championship game, 2 years before that, that same year, Tampa Bay beat Philadelphia in a hard earned win. New England.. taking on Jacksonville some what, 8 yrs back.. that was a raping - so to say the NFC has and will always suck, and their championship game is a snoozer, is wrong. I remember a hell of a lot more NFC Classics than I do AFC.. Dallas - Green Bay, mid 90s, Dallas - San Francisco, mid 90s, Tampa Bay - St Louis on the Rickey Proehl TD catch their super bowl year. Carolina - Philadelphia. Just some examplesBadDazeRob wrote: Give me a f%cking break ... the NFC championship game is, by and large, academic, as it will be again this year. Please, Pittsburgh played in the absolute worst division in football last year, fucking Huntingdon's High School team could have beaten the Ravens and Browns last year. Cincinnati was the ONLY competetion in that divison last year and even they didn't cut it.BadDazeRob wrote: BTW, who considered the Eagles the better Pa. team last year? McNabb's mom? Pittsburgh went 15-1 that year, Cincinnati went what, 9-7, 8-8 - that doesnt say a whole lot for the division when you finish 6 games better than 2nd place. And it wasnt that Pittsburgh was light years better than anybody, yeah they beat New England, and Philadelphia that year, but at the end of the day it came down to who was the better athelete under pressure, and it turned out to be Tom Brady. Ben Rothlesberger is good, very good - but he is NOT that good under pressure yet. Look at him last playoffs, he sucked. This past week he was good, but Indy's defense is much better than Cincinnati's - the RCA Dome will be 10x louder than Cincinatti was, the Colts have MUCH more to play for than Pittsburgh.. Peyton Manning needs to get a shroud off his head, in the end, he will be the better quarterback, and Indy will win.
And I'll grant you that, Heinz field sucks whether it be because of the river or the fact it's used so much. But there gets to a point where it doesnt matter how good a team is, there will always be a team that is better.BadDazeRob wrote: History lesson: Pittsburgh defeated 6-0 NE and 7-0 Philly in back-to-back road games in '04, the first "W" ended the Pats' 21-game win streak and the second was a clinic in how to pick apart a team (Philly) that thinks it's better than it acually is. Naaa... the Eagles were just the best team in the NFC last year, which doesn't say anything really. The Stillers beat them silly.
Never said that. I actually pointed out in my last post that Carolina scares me.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:You think Pittsburgh can go into Seattle or Carolina this year and beat them?

No sh@t. Seasoned veteran with playoff and championship experience vs. rookie who's never lost an NFL game. Who's got the advantage? Duh.AtoMikEnRtiA wrote:but at the end of the day it came down to who was the better athelete under pressure, and it turned out to be Tom Brady. Should the Colts win? On paper, yes. Will they? Won't know that until Sunday. In the meantime, I'll take my Steelers and feel good about it. They have as good a chance (if not better) of knocking them off as the Chargers did.
I love this underdog role Pittsburgh's playing this post-season, and I'm sure "The Chin" and his crew love it, as well.

Remember this time the Dolts will not be able to play loud crowd noise over the PA system this game.
They got cought.
The Steelers probably had more offenceive penalties especially by linemen that last game, and it was found out they were adding to the normal crowd noise.
one or 2 less penalties at crucial moments of the game can be the difference.

I can't make a call on this one but, I have a gut feeling that the Steelers will win. I know one thing for sure, if they go down (and I'm not saying they will) this year, I'm going down waving my terrible towel in my Roethlisberger jersey. Last year against NE, I kind of had a bad feeling going in. No such feeling this year. My gut tells me the Steelers can do it.

Games
Someone replied in a different post saying that Kitna played as well as Palmer would have in the wildcard game. I kind of doubt that. I don't think that Pittsburgh would have won if Carson would have stayed in the game.
Knocking Manning out would be a good way to win, but I don't think that the Stillers will get that Lucky, They are stiller in a crap division and the Road to the Super bowl goes through the NE Pats until they get knocked off.
I don't even think that Indy is the team to beat. I guess that either way I hope it is a good game!

The Bungles O line was manhandled by the Steelers. Palmer would have been running for his life, too.tornandfrayed wrote:I don't think that Pittsburgh would have won if Carson would have stayed in the game.
You're dealing in moot points here.
Crap division? Who does Indy have to worry about in their super-tough division? The Texans? How about the Titans? I'll give them the Jags, but otherwise, no division.
And NE's division is full of power house teams, too. Watch out for the Jets, the Bills and those wily Dolphins who are always threatening in the post season.
Face it. The division argument is bull$hit.

Steelers untested in the playoffs? M'kay.
Manning doesn't need to be knocked out of the game, he needs to be taken out of his game, like the Chargers did.
I agree that the Pats will probably provide a tougher challenge, but the fact is the Indy game is this week. No win Sunday, no need to worry about the Pats.

If pittsburgh can get a rythym goin on offense they will blow any team away because there defense has been pretty consistent except against the colts. ill admit they got there asses whipped that game. hopefully they did there homework this time and wont get screwed early. as far as offense they need to use bettis more up the middle. parker is great in the open field but he cant penetrate up the gut. Heath Miller is the man, great hands never drops a pass, and can drag 3-4 defenders down the field, if they use him more that will open up the wide receivers and spread the defense. the other main thing is penalties. if the steelers can minimize there penalties, and not throw any interceptions they will win.can not afford to get behind the colts.
