Mouse Thrown Into Fire Sets Home Ablaze

FORT SUMNER, N.M. - A mouse got its revenge against a homeowner who tried to dispose of it in a pile of burning leaves. The blazing creature ran back to the man's house and set it on fire.

Luciano Mares, 81, of Fort Sumner said he caught the mouse inside his house and wanted to get rid of it.

"I had some leaves burning outside, so I threw it in the fire, and the mouse was on fire and ran back at the house," Mares said from a motel room Saturday.

Village Fire Chief Juan Chavez said the burning mouse ran to just beneath a window, and the flames spread up from there and throughout the house.

No was hurt inside, but the home and everything in it was destroyed.

Unseasonably dry and windy conditions have charred more than 53,000 acres and destroyed 10 homes in southeastern New Mexico in recent weeks.

"I've seen numerous house fires," village Fire Department Capt. Jim Lyssy said, "but nothing as unique as this one."

There are "humane" traps...but then he throws it in a fire, alive?

Not only that, he had to have left the fire unattended, or common sense says he would have seen it and his house wouldn't have burned down. What an idjit.

"Sniffles" is my fav cartoon mouse. (Looney Toon) He has a high voice and talks fast, using run-on sentences. I haven't seen him or many of those good Cartoons for years.

similar story: I shot at a squirrel in the tree in my yard with a BB gun a few summers ago, not to kill it, just dickin around to see if I could hit it. and yes, as the force is strong with me, I hit it. I immediately felt pretty bad, because I myself hate when people do shit to animals for fun. It was less than a month later when my car gauges and lights started acting up. I took it to the shop and 100 or so dollars later I has to replace a wiring harness that had been chewed by a critter. I think I know which one.
Moral: do unto others.................

Don't you get Boomerang? It is the only channel that my kids and I watch!

Boomerang? Is that Digital Cable or a Dish? I have Adelphia Basic Cable...the only things that I know as a "Boomerang" are rotten luck and thieves.

Things go okay for a while and then "whap" it or they hit me again!
