My Fiance saved my life
Lastnight I was at my friends house where we were discussing our back problems with each other. Katy who i'm engaged to and also having a child to was at work when I was there and had to be picked up at 9. My friend was telling me about this medication he takes for his back and advised me to take one of his muscle relaxers to help me sleep and rid me of my back pain. Needless to say i took his advice and this small pill at about 8:30 just before i picked Katy up. On the way home everything was fine but started getting a little tired. We arrive home and I start getting sick and even more tired so I lay with Katy while we watch a movie. Next thing I remember is waking up to a room full of paramedics and Katy crying. What happened was I passed out and my heart stopped beating. Before I actually passed out Katy called her mother to ask what to do about the side effects I was experiencing and she inflormed her to see what happens and see if i get worse. Immediately after she gets off the phone i pass out. They had to give me a shot to start my heart and wake me up. Like I said I woke up with a room full of paramedics, fiance crying, my own blood everywhere and a coroner there ready to pernounce me dead. If it wasn't for Katy I would not be here right now so I thought she should get more appreciation than what she thinks she deserves.

I'd also like to add that the main guy working on me said that if they were called 5 minutes later I wouldn't have made it. But then again I hear everyone say that, in this case though i think it was true because Katy just told me that at first before I stopped breathing completely I would take a breath, hold it for about 10 seconds then while exhaling I would choke then starting shaking before I quit altogehter. This has to be the worst experience of my life and the worst feeling i've gone through right now recoping. Seeing your replies means a lot to me and assures me that people are still caring. This definately scared me so I really have to talk about it.

Cause
Did they say what caused that man? Was it a bad reaction to a certain type of medication? Did you take more then one (I know that I use to have to take way more then one of anything!)? I would be interested to know what type of medication it was and maybe someone else will not have the same problem.
So glad and thank God that you are alright!

Holy shit dude that 's crazy! I'm glad to hear you are o.k. man. You really are lucky that you had your woman there to help. I hate painkillers and I won't take them for fear that something might happen , plus I don't like the way they make me feel. You have to be carefull take'n someone else's meds for sure. Next time if ya need a sleep aid or painkiller let me know and I'll send ya some good beans! l.o.l.
A person is getting along the road to wisdom when they begin to realize that their opinion is just another opinion !
Glad all turned out for the best!...and this will bring you two closer and have something that connects you....You owe her your life!...And someone up there figured it wasn't your time and placed her there to do the right things at the right time....(good ideas for a song to her!)
Glad your ok...and a pat on the back for your better 1/2!!...Good Luck...Wish you guys the best!....you already have a special angel with ya!

The pill was called lorazepam and i only took one. It was an allergic reaction. The reason it completely shut my heart down was because it was basicly double the starter dose I would have been perscribed if a Dr. would have given it to me. I still would have had a reaction but not half as bad the paramedics said. It's been over 24 hours and I still feel very sick, my chest is tight and the headache from the adrenaline shot hasn't gone away yet. I have to wake up every half hour if I sleep for the next 2 days. You guys don't understand how much your words mean to me and my fiance is also very appreciative for all the kind comments. The fact that I haven't talked to half of you on this page and yet it seems you care so much for me shows how great of a community we've established here. Thanks again everyone and I hope to meet you all soon.

Lorazepam isn't a muscle relaxer, it's an anti-anxiety drug in the same family as Valium. True, it might "relax" you, but it isn't the same thing as a drug used to relax the muscles. Regardless of why someone takes it, it is the kind of drug you start slowly with and build up. Same as when you stop takling it, you have to gradually reduce the dosage.

You need to change your RP name from ThrashKillsYou to FianceSavesYou. We've lost enough local musician's in the past couple of years, we don't need to lose anymore. It's good to know that you are alright.
Now - don't do it again.

You were told you had a allergic reaction. Unfortunately that can happen to anyone with ANY medication or herbal concotion. The bad thing is you don't know if you are allergic to something until you have had the bad reaction.
Another downer is that even if you are not allergic to something now or in your past, your body can develope allergies to compounds at any time. Many people who have peanut allergies did not always have that.
One upside is that our bodies can lose allergic reactions to some things. Not ALL children with allergies grow up with them, some are lost during puberty.
Thank God you are still here Rockpaging along with us.

Update:
Again, thanks for all the kind words everyone. I've made a recovery but not completely, I'm still emotionally upset since I had to put my fiance through that. When she told me that the first person to arrive at my house wasn't even the ambulance but instead the coroner carrying a bodybag it really upset me. I died in her arms and I feel I put her through something she shouldn't have gone through. I explained to her that I owe her my life but she keeps saying she didn't do anything significant and that it was just the right thing to do. Needless to say i've been buying her gifts out the ass, back rubs, feet rubs, cleaning the entire house and so on. I promised to myself, Katy and my family that I will never take another pill again, not even if it's tylenol. Hopefully someone learns from this and doesn't make the same mistake I have. I have a kid to raise, a wife to take care of, I knew it wasn't my time. Thanks everyone!
