Dont like Slayer?

I was just wondering how many people, who have actually HEARD a few Slayer albums, think they suck? if you do think they suck, id really like to know why. the same if you DO like Slayer. what are the reasons you like them?
I love Slayer for many reasons.

I love Slayer. I love the guitar work. The riffs and rythyms are freaking awesome. The solos are kind of eh at times but the guitar work. Man they put out some riffs that could start a bloody riot in a church. The drumming has always been really, really good as well. Not just the double kick, which kicks ass, but the beats in general. They push a riff at the right time and pull it at the others making it heavier than hell.

Just fucking awesome...

I like Kerry Kings guitar playing. That is about as far as it goes, as I don't care for thrash metal that much .. When I want to metal out full throttle I listen to Manowar ..

The only thing I DON'T love about Slayer is Toms voice. The lyrics can be great but like Punkinhead said, great guitar riffs and lombardos drumming really up to par as well as the rest of their drummers they've had. I didn't like the drums on God Hates us All though, kinda boring from what I remember as compared to Reign in Blood.

Agreed. That guy was no Lombardo. The rest of that album had a taste of weaksauce too. It wasn't as lyrically well-written IMO, and the whole mix sounded off. Maybe new found guitar tone or something, but it just didn't sound as good as say, Reign in Blood.

I liked Slayer best during their Hell Awaits and Reign In Blood period, when there was more speed and velocity to their sound. I can listen to their later stuff as well, but that mid-80's period is what I thought was their better work.
