The greatest movie soundtrack .. What are your thoughts ??

Post by f.sciarrillo »

I am wondering what movie soundtrack you think is the greatest ??

I would say that it is a couple of them.
  • Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
    and
  • Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
Any thoughts on yours ??

Last Action Hero

It was a box office disaster, but a great sound track.
It includes the gems from Alice in Chains: "A Little Bitter" and "What the Hell Have I", along with Megadeth's "Angry Again".
The only other way to get these songs, AFAIK, would be to buy the AIC "Vault" box set, and Megadeth's "Hidden Treasures" box set.
... and then the wheel fell off.

some OK ones are

Rush - Eric Clapton (just cause its 'different')
Almost Famous
Pulp Fiction

But my 2 favorites were those movies that VH1 produced (now on video) called the 60's and the 70's.
During the movie itself (which by the way the 60's was great I thought), I thought, wow the sountrack is the best I ever heard in a movie. The songs were not the typical top40 crap from the 60's that you always hear but a little more obscure stuff. However, when I saw the CD for sale of the soundtrack, it was not any of the great stuff I heard in the movie. That was disappointing....

Some of my fave movie soundtracks..and MIAMI VICE was not a movie. Not yet, anyway.

-Purple Rain, in my opinion, is the best soundtrack of all time.
-The Godfather
-The Breakfast Club
-Singles (the seminal 90's soundtrack)
-Guys & Dolls (Sinatra and Brando on the same screen, 'nuff said)
Dood...

The Wanderers, a great movie that is now just re-released on dvd. about NY gangs in the late fifties to early sixties, Dylan in cameo at end of movie.

This was when being in a gang did not make you a gangsta, just a punk kid.

The Wayne's World flicks of course!

As for powerful soundtracks, the Star Wars guys did a good job at getting some powerful orchestration on the new trilogy, especially the battle scenes.

My favorites go to Gone in 60 Seconds (remake), Snatch, The Italian Job, The Thomas Crown Affair (remake), Oceans 11 (remake) and other movies like this.

(Is it weird that most of my favorite movies involove theft, and are remakes of from the 70s?!?)
.

All kinetic, no potential.

(gasp) NO ONE mentioned the Less Than Zero soundtrack (shudder)? Just the thought of Slayer’s rendition of In A Gadda Da Vidda, as well as Glenn Danzig and Roy Orbison working together, should give you a stiffy!!

Dirty Dancing,
Good music, and thanks to my wife and daughter I've seen the movie about a trillion times. Hell, I even started knowing the dialog.
