I've been hooked on Genesee since my college days. Yeah, I've endured all the "piss water" jokes over the years, but I still like the stuff. It still goes great with wings on Monday nights. Beer, Cream Ale, 12 Horse Ale, they've all served my taste buds well over the years. While I've become "multi-lingual" with beer and can enjoy several brands these days, good ol' Genny is still the one I gravitate to.

Having said that, though, Yeungling has grown to be a good alternative. I started enjoying it when different venues stopped stocking Genesee.

Of course, Peter C's weaned me on Heineken...another thing I'll miss about that place!

And I've developed a taste for microbrews. This time of year, I always purchase a case or two of different microbrews to sample along with meals.

All enjoyed in moderation, of course...

I just bought a case of Victory, the variety selection (it's chilling in the fridge right now). I plan to sample some later this evening.

My buddy in Nashville, Doug Forshey, makes me bring a case of Yuengling Lager whenever I go down there. People just love it. Thankfully, now that there's a Florida brewery, they can get it, although it's still not that common. Now he makes me get Middleswarth BBQ chips.
I don't drink much, but I do enjoy a Yuengling occasionally.----->JMS
MMMMMmmmmmm...Middlesworth.

Maybe you can get Middlesworth to sponser .00 Buck?

I always liked IC Light. I never thought it was that bad and it was always on draft and I'm poor so I drank it.

Oh well, Coors Light is also good.

And believe it or not, I will drink Michelob Ultra if I have to.

I'm big boned so I have to watch my figure.

why does everyone here like these lite beers? i have a theroy its becuase it has no taste. real beer lovers drink DARK BEERS like Lagers, Stouts, Ales etc. because they LIKE the actual taste of beer. they like to taste there beer. (it IS beer you know. it's supposed to taste like that :) .. lite beer or even the big names like bud, miller etc are mainly fizz water. they would never order a lite or a 'bud' if there life depended on it. my thots anyway..

NS, you can't change people into what you want them to be. Everyone has their own opinions on what they like. Quit trying to stir up trouble and drop it already. If someone likes light beer, fine. Let it be. It's their choice. Nobody busts on you for liking dark beer. Get over it.

(BTW, if anyone likes light beer, make a trip over to the Johnstown Brewing Company. Their White Hat Pale Ale is outstanding.)

I'm one of the biggest fans of what you seem to think is "real beer" ever, but on a regular basis drink miller lite. Doesn't mean that I don't like the taste of beer or that I'm pussy(although to save you the trouble I'll just admit to that much). State College's microbrew fest is one of my favorite annual events....and guiness one of my favorite brews so just chill the hell out!

BTW, anyone had Troeggs Mad Elf yet? Whew.......turned me into drunken Bad Elf. Crazy shit.

NOW you're speakin' my language. I like Gibble's Kettle-cooked better though. They use lard. The best ever was a paper-bag full I got in Lancaster County... old Mennonite ladies made them as a fundraiser... oh, man they were good.
We have some really good food around here... a trip to Johnstown Folkfest can prove that... and you can't get decent wings beyond 50 miles south of here. (My opinion. YMMV.)----->JMS

Real, fresh, German beers are spoiling me.

My favorite is still Groninger, but it isn't available in the US, or even bottled. You have to go to the brauhaus in Hamburg and take a crew, because you can't take the keg with you. They bring it to the table and tap it. Occasionally Groninger is available at outdoor festivals, but that's it.

My second favorites are the Hefeweizen Dunkels (dark wheat beers), escpecially Paulaner, Franziskaner and Spaten Franz.

Since I've been home I keep trying to resist the urge of those $10.00 six-packs, but I keep caving in. I'll be back in Deutschland soon enough.
... and then the wheel fell off.

"Outdoor festivals"...I had a fleeting image of Clark Griswold in "European Vacation".

Hi Ron!

I agree those dark beers are REAL BEER! MMMMM. I like beer so dark & thick you dont drink it you have to SLICE it! The way beer should be!

Do you know if you can get any of those you mention here? If so, which and where?

Thanks!

If you really want to be a beer connoisseur, as Ron would agree, you guys need to try some European Beers. There's no comparison to anything from the US or Mexico. Sure, if I just want a quick thirst quencher I may have a Miller Light or Corona, but if it's true authentic beer flavor I'm after I look to the land across the sea.
It's all about the SAUCE...and of coarse, the 4 W's.

I am somewhat of a beer snob, and my favorites are Chimay (red label not blue, and I really think the Chimay in the big wine bottles with a cork taste the best ), and Unibrue (anyone had?) but my favorite of all is the homebrew my boyfriend makes, it is yummy!
