Pittsburgh 18, Minnesota 3

Post by Jim Price »

Things are looking a lot better for the Black and Gold. This is the way the Steelers like to win 'em, with smothering defense and with the run. Ben didn't have to go to the air much today.

The Steelers should win out the rest of the way, as long as they don't get careless in Cleveland next weekend. I'm sure at this point, the Browns would like nothing more than play spoiler and knock the Steelers out of the wild card.

And Indianapolis can be beaten. I don't know if anyone else will be able to do it in the playoffs, but San Diego at least proved it can be done.

It was a good game .. I am satisfied with it. I am kinda dissapointed about Indy losing today though. I was hoping that they would go undefeated.

I still say that the bowl will be Seattle and Indy this year ..

Word...I said this in another thread but, I'll say it here too. I think they'll beat the Colts if they meet again in the playoffs....

I say, BEWARE OF THE STEELERS ... I kinda like this no respect thing we Steelers fans are so used to when the team loses a few.

I said it last week, I'd rather see us sneek in as a wildcard and tough it out on the road, knowing all the "experts" have written off the Black & Gold.

PS: Payton Manning IS human. If the Steelers do see the Colts again this season, and the D plays the way it's capable of, like it did Sunday, business will be taken care of. Honestly, even though Indy beat Pittsburgh a few weeks aogo, the D clamped down fairly well on the Colts offense, considering it was Ben's first week back after almost a month on the bench and our offense was out of sync.

Bring it ...

While it's looking good for the Steelers, they're not in yet, and there is a scenario where they could be the odd team out even if they do win out...

(Reprinted from ESPN)

"A weird wild-card glitch has the Steelers wanting the Jags to win out and be the fifth seed, which goes to the wild-card team with the best record. If the Steelers end up in a three-way tie with the Jaguars and Chargers at 11-5, the Steelers would be eliminated from the playoffs. The Jaguars are struggling to beat bad teams -- look no further than Sunday's 10-9 win over the 49ers. They finish with the Texans and the Titans, teams that are a combined 6-22. A loss to one could foil the Steelers' bid for a wild card because in a three-way tie, the Steelers, since they have five AFC losses, would be nudged out. Even though the Steelers beat the Chargers and have a tie-breaker against them in a two-way wild-card tie, the Steelers need the Jaguars to go 12-4 to give them a better chance of making the playoffs."

So Steelers fans, besides rooting for the Black and Gold to win out, also root for Kansas City to win this weekend, and Jacksonville to win out.

Damn...that's a crappy loophole. You should never be left out in favor of a team that you have beaten when having identical records. All 5 losses being in the AFC is killer though.
