Real Tree or K-mart special?

Post by Banned »

Do you go out and cut a real Christmas tree or go to the box in the attic and assemble the artificial green thing?

When do you put it up? I am going to Bellwood to get it today.

I go artificial... they're safer, don't need thrown in landfills, and Christmas trees are basically too young to use for anything else... although used trees make great bass habitat in Lake Raystown. I'd rather let a young tree grow... they look good and for wind-break purposes, an 8-foot evergreen with branches to the ground stops wind as effectively as a brick wall the same height. Plus they serve as nesting places.
I must admit, though, I like the smell of a natural tree, and the tradition of finding one.------>JMS

I don't have room to set up a tree... there's too much musical equipment.

I'll just have to set up another amp and put ornaments on it.

Lonewolfe, is that a Mesa, Marshall or Fender Christmas amp this year, or maybe some exotic crossbreed?

I go artificial. In another week, I'll dig out the ol' 4-foot foldaway tree from the attic, and load it up with as many ornaments, lights and garlands as humanly possible without the thing toppling over. I have a smaller 1 1/2-foot artificial tree I put on the kitchen table. My inspiration is always the weakling tree Charlie Brown breaks out on the Peanuts Christmas special.

I'm usually later in putting mine up, probably next weekend or right before Christmas Eve. But I'll let mine up longer, probably until mid-January.

We don't chop it down and drag it out of the woods, but we go "real." We usually support the local fire company and get a tree there.

Every year we buy a true Charlie Brown Christmas tree from Walker's Tree farm in Bellwood for like $15. The smell of a real pine tree one of the things I like most about Christmas. The sap sucks, but it's worth it.

I'm sure you've got yourself a nice tube amp. The light from those glowing tubes would be magical enough for me to put gifts under! That's a great idea.

Mesa and Boss/Stewart/Renner this year. I pulled the Mark IV chassis to paint its rack mount kit, so like Moondoggy said, I can just lay it upside down on the speakers with the tubes sticking up for ornaments! They won't march in step, like the little Boogie logo, though. :(

Tree

I always sort of look at Xmas trees like an orgasm. I guess a fake one will do if you don't have the time and EN-ER-GY! to get a real one!

Artificial. Lights attached and for now, until I get the rest of my belongings back, I have a nice 4.5 foot Fibre Optic/Multi Color Lights one. There were real Trees when I was growing up, but once my parents got an Artificial one, that was it! Why deal with all of the mess? There are Candles, Plug-Ins and sprays if you miss the scent. The hassle of a real tree is just not worth it to me and I can leave it up until the end of January if I want to - and I have! :)

I've had the same fake tree for ten years! It finally got replaced this year with a new one. The new one has lights alredy on it and everything. You just put each section together , fold the limbs down ,plug in the lights to one another, add your favorite orniments and presto, you're finished! I never cared much for a real tree mainly cause you have dispose of it later! The water you have to put in the pan can be as inviteing to your dog or cat as the water in your toilete and you can almost bet that you will have to pick the tree up once or twice through the season.

If it were up to me, I'd have myself an artificial tree that I could leave decorated year round. Just slide it in and out of the closet when needed! But the wife seems to love sweeping up dead needles, smell of a real tree and watching me fumble around each year putting it up and taking it down! Ya know, I wear the pants in the house but she tells me what size and what color! Marriage rocks!

ps.... I love the idea of decorating a guitar rig but she just wont go for that......damn!

Happy Holiday's
