Original Music Showcases........

Post by nightcrawler_steve »

Hello everyone.

A while back there was a post going about the lack of an original scene in the area. I can really only speak for the State College scene and know very little about the Altoone scene, but am learning.

Torn and Frayed has started the "One Voice Music Showcase" which I hear has been successful in the Altoona area. We are trying to do something similar in State College at The Crowbar. We finally got a date with enough advance notice to promote the hell out of it. So for all of you "original music lovers", here is a chance to help support and build up the local original scene a little more in the area. Well see how the first one goes. If it goes as we hope, its something wed like to do once a month at Crowbar.

Here is when. Monday January 16th @ Crowbar. ALL AGES!!

Steve, who are the Rustlanders and what kind of music do they generally play?

I saw the Rustlanders back in May. They do an Americana mixture; blues, bluegrass and country-geared rock; with a more electric edge and kick. Very good players; members include some former guys from Jack's Farm and Dave Mudgett.

A recap of the show I saw:

Yep, Jim hit pretty much right on the head - thanks buddy. Great songwriting, frigin AWESOME pedal steal - Mudgett is the man. These guys are definitely worth the drive alone and we've been lookin forward to doing a show with them for a long time now. Still deciding the one or two other bands for the show. We'll keep you posted.

PS...Yankeerose - doors @ 8:30, show around 9:30 or 10. As soon as its set in stone Ill put up all the details. Would be great to have some Altoona folk come on over here.
