Clubs should be responsible, but more often than not, they aren't which is unfortunate for us musicians.
Contracts could work, BUT, unless you are an agency band with an agency contract, I don't think that will hold too much water. I've been fucked out of those too. That's just my opinion and experience with contracts.
I still say that if bands remain professional and organized that might help clubs get the message. quote]
The main problem is dealing with lying scumbag criminal types (on BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN. I’ll just discuss club owners right now!). I can literally smell these people through the phone. I expect every one I deal with to be upfront and honest front the start…….but THAT’S a FREAKIN’ JOKE!!!!!! I’ve been doing music professionally my entire life, and I can say I’ve had VERY FEW legitimate, honest, human mistakes occur. You could have a contract prepared by F. Lee Bailey and notarized by God AND Satan and it would not make a bit of difference to these people. Why? They are CRIMINALS, that’s why! (And I’m not saying don’t use contracts if possible. But scumbags know your chances of seeing any money in a lawsuit are very slim) When I encounter these types, I KNOW GOING IN I will get screwed. It’s just a matter of when. I take as much money as possible from them while restricting my potential losses. The first time they screw me is the last. The next thing I do is everything I can to get my money and stop them from getting any more of anyone else's money. The next step is to take great satisfaction in the fact that they most likely will soon be bankrupt, in jail, in the witness protection program or dead.
BTW, EVERY dumbass I’ve ever had a problem with is either bankrupt, in jail, in the witness protection program or dead.
Coincidence? I think not……………..
