Camera Theft

Post by Jim Price »

It was probably overdue, but it finally happened...

My camera case, containing a Sony Mavica digital camera (which uses floppy discs), and two battery chargers, was stolen from my car early this morning (Friday). It's largely my own fault, I had to leave my driver's side door of my car unlocked because the lock froze up at my workplace earlier in the evening.

The theft took place between 2:30 and 4 AM at the King's 6th Avenue parking lot across from Peter C's.

The camera case was a CD "Case It;" the thief probably thought he/she was getting CD's, and grabbed the case. Strangely, several dollars in loose change just a foot away from the case was left untouched, as well as everything else in the car. Whoever entered my car just grabbed the camera case.

I happened to have my other Sony digital "cyber-shot" camera in my coat pocket when I entered King's for breakfast; so I still have it, but need a battery charger for it.

Not that I expect to get the Mavica back, but if anybody hears anybody talking about grabbing somebody's camera, etc., let me know. I'll also check the local second-hand/pawn shops in the morning to see if anyone tries to sell it off.

BRRRR! I've been reading the replies since this afternoon, the last I'd been on and then I checked new Topics. JP, that reeks...and while some slime ball was lifting your Camera, I witnessed something else all together...the other end of the human spectrum...flurries wafting through the Frigid air, Felix using a flat piece of metal with his bare hands, wearing what was supposed to be a Coat, I guess, trying to help some dude open his car, as he'd locked his Keys inside. I was leaving and saw these 2 dudes waving me over to the rear area of the King's Parking Lot and thought to myself, "no way"! I drove down the road a bit, felt bad and thought, "what if that was me and I needed help?", turned back and said to myself, "my doors are locked, I'll swing by and crack my window just a tad to see what's going on"...imagine how bad I felt when I saw it was Felix...he had me angle my car so the lights would help them see and I also got my Flashlight and a Screwdriver. In the meantime, Mr. and Mrs. Hurricane had driven over and their lights were shining on the area too, but it was all for naught...as the dude was fiddling with the Screwdriver, the passenger side window on his Red Toyota Tercel shattered into "smithereenies" - if he goes to Clark's in East Freedom like I suggested, I hope they give him a good price! They did right by me once upon a time, installation included. If Heart and Soul could have opened his car door for him, he'd have been in it in an instant. What a night, "Soul Shine", indeed! (That was the last tune Felix and The Hurricanes played tonight! :) ) Hopefully I'll be warm by morning and I had a REAL Coat AND Gloves on. Good luck getting your Camera back, JP!

Good luck JP in finding/getting your camera back. People are such
buttholes! Kinda makes you wish the U.S. had a policy (like some other countries) where thieves have their hands cut off when caught stealing.

Again, hope you get it back or catch the prick.

I smell a Rockpage Jam/Camera Benefit Show ...

Seriously folks, how much good does JP do with that camera of his for all of us? I think it's only fitting that Rockpagers get together to replace this camera.

You know where to find me.

Just a thought...instead all the effort and time it might take to put a benefit together, how about bands have a can with "Camera for JP" on it at their shows, on the stage, so some slime doesn't lift IT, of course...and make an announcement a some point as to what happened...I'm thinking JP would have a new Camera in record time!

Also, does King's have a Security Camera on the Parking Lot, or what about the Bank across the street, maybe it caught something?

How about this?

Post by tornandfrayed »

I think a benefit is a great idea! Also how about any bands interested taking a nights pay and donating it, that way I bet JP could have a new camera in a week or so. Figure 4 or 5 bands that are booked over the weekend taking their cash and donating it, that would be cool!

UPDATE: I called around to several shops, and Crazy Hazy's told me two guys were in this morning to try to sell the camera to them. The camera has a few small problems; you have to wiggle the floppy discs to remove them from the camera (I know how to do it, somebody not familiar with the camera would not know how), and the battery needs to be gum-banded to the charger when you charge the battery up. Since the camera had those problems, Crazy Hazy's did not buy the camera, but told me they would keep an open eye in case the two guys returned (they were described as a white guy in his mid-30's, and a black guy in his 50's). I also reported the theft to Altoona police.

Best of luck finding your camera JP(sounds like to me you could use a new one anyways) That ain't the way you should have to get a one,but if nothing else it's a good excuse! There is nothing worse then a thief or a liar in my book, just remember, what comes around goes around, they'll get theirs.

it really succcccks! JP! I know that you have taken some cool pics in the past. You should of told Crazy Hazy's to buy the camera anyway, then you would got your camera aand those could of been arrested. With the way things go around town most likely they are into h erion! They needed money to support their filthy habbit!

Hell yeahs, let's throw a benefit, The Jim Price Camera Benefit. It has a certain satircal ring to it.

I feel sick to my stomach over this. Seeing Jp with out his camera is like seeing someone with out their kid. (or beer!)
I'll keep a wary eye out Jp. Keep contacting the pawn shops. Keep your eye out on ebay. And maybe you'll get lucky again. Does the guy think he could Id them or get a sketch of them (yeah, that's asking alot, but still...when Tom had his guitar stolen, he took in a year book picture from the description and it was the same kid...)

People should just stick to stealing spoons and let everyone elses' shit be.

Rob never fear I couldn't believe in your hokey religious politics, I'm too good and pure for that, I love my fellow man way too much. I want everyone to see and take note that even when I'm not being political on a music forum I am dragged into it.

Hey, alright! $40 bucks towards a new camera already! We should let Jim decide where to give the money. Come on, I think he deserves a new camera after all the hard work he does to help promote all bands. He never asks for anything in return either...well, maybe for bands to play well, but anyway, lemme see if everyone can at least throw $20 bucks in for him! We could get him the best camera ever!

I'm gonna up the ante and make my band donate $20.00 as well! so make that $60 towards a new camera already!
