where did that come from?

Post by ZappasXWife »

I wanted to start a new topic about this: I have one of those internet radio stations on right now and they are playing a Doors song. Name of the song (or at least the words in the chorus) is Follow Me Down. Now, I love the Doors, but this song is, well, UNUSUAL for the Doors (hate to say cheesy and bad, but OK it is...)
Question: What one song by a band you admire is UNUSUAL for that band? Not bad necessarily, just one that makes you say "where did that come from?"

It's Am I Going Insane. And yeah, it's not much of a jam song. It's said that it's one of the 2 only songs that Ozzy wrote for the band (other being "Who Are You"), so what's that tell ya? ;)

On the same album, Supertzar is pretty weird for them.

Another, is "Round and Down" by Steppenwolf, it's like a country music parody. (there's lots of obscure Steppenwolf material from their heyday, before 1973, that is quite good)

hehheh.. I thought of that after I posted about the Steppenwolf country music parody.

Zeppelin did other parodies; D'yer Mak'r, a.k.a. "Jamaica", or "Jermaker", was a raggae parody that actually became a hit. And on the same album, The Crunge was a parody of James Brown.

Has anybody seen the bridge?

where's the confounded bridge?

HaHa, and Hot Dog was one I thought of too, nothing like a british blues band doing country swing, huh?

Here's another one: Comin Back To Me - Jefferson Airplane
Gorgeous song, but doesn't seem like JA except for Marty Balin's voice.
Another one: Maggot Brain - Funkadelic

good tune, but how do you go from "Hey Man Nice Shot" to that ????
I have tiny hands, like a Tyrannosaurus. T-Rex may be the lizard king but he could never play the guitar...
