Ron, that would be a "buck wad", if I remember correctly from my days of reloading shells.Ron wrote:
Is this considered a "buck wad" or a "buck plug"?
.00 Buck
Weeeelllll, now. Quite a night for me, and the Buck as well. Pretty good crowd... many many Rockpagers in attendance (ZappasX and Yankee stiil haven't flashed me the moneymakers... a guy can wish) RobTheDrummer, Spellbound, ToonaRock, undercoverjoe, of course JP, Jimi Hatt, Dwayne(why can't I remember his screen name right now?) Edmiston, and obviously Red,, TJ Kelly and myself. Bands represented by bandmembers in attendance: The Hurricanes, Hexhed, Screen, Texas Toast, Mudbone, Hair Force One, Sinner's Plea, and probably a bunch more I didn't get to talk to... thanks, y'all, that means a lot.
How'd we do? Well, I had to admit, I was nervous... I mean really nervous. I NEVER get weak-kneed for a gig, and I was sweating bullets tonight! We started out a bit shaky, and had a touch of tech difficulty, but stayed the course, and by the end of our set, I think we made a few fans. I saw lots of folks singing along, and even the Professor, who I've known for years is not a big country fan, confided that the Roger Miller hit, "King Of The Road," took him back to childhood.
Then Blind Jonny Death did their usual killer sets, while I tried to keep up on steel guitar. A great time was had by all, I think, and I look forward to our full-fledged shows, starting in December.
My sincerest thanks go out to BJD's Slim, whose idea this night was, as well as his bandmates, Red and Rev, for their patience and the chance to get a crack at their audience. Can't wait to ride the Hellbound Hayride up in Clearfield County. Also thanks to Butch and the Post crew... they told me that they made mad tips, probably you musicians did that. Thanks also to my cohorts, TJ Kelly and Brian Cupples for the hard work and letting me pick the name and most of the songs... but hey, I have excellent taste in country music
. Thanks to Deb and Crystal, too, for putting up with everything. Thanks for taping, Jim Price... I can't wait to see my deer-in-the-headlights look for the first half of the set.
To the rest of you, I hope to see you soon at a Buck show... even if the music's not your cup of tea, you meet the nicest people.
Thanks again, everyone, I'm having a blast!------------>JMS

Red, I couldn't have said it any better. So many of the tunes .OO Buck played, just like JP, they took me back to my childhood...I
closed my eyes and for just a moment, I was able to be with some of the people I love most in the Universe again, while they were having a ball singing along to good "beer drinking music"...the difference now was, I was singing along too. "Caliga" (sp?), "Mountain Dew", and I don't know the title, but I knew the lyrics, the one about "havin' big fun on the Bayou"... Lordy, it had been 30 + years since I'd heard them! THANK YOU!!! It was great seeing so many 'Pagers I knew there and to meet SpellboundByMetal, too. We all had nametags and some friends questioned me about them then saw my name and asked me if I ever get "thorny"...haha, everyone's a comedian! Also, thanks to "Dic o' th' Taters", his wife Deb, Jimi Hatt and I got to see a "Full Moon" INSIDE the Hitching Post. Oh, YES! While making my way out the door, I was made part of a "Blind Jonny Death Sandwich" by The Rev and Red and as I said at the time, now I can die a happy woman!

As Songsmith said, I've never really been a fancier of the country music arts, but both bands last night succeeded in chipping away at changing that. "King of the Road" takes me back to my earliest years, when my parents used to play it through an old wooden RCA living room stereo system. Buck Owens' "Tiger By the Tail" flashed me back to Hee-Haw-land. Country tunes, corny jokes and hot, hot women...
Blind Jonny Death smoked as usual in taking us on their regularly-scheduled hellbound hayride. They're the cover/feature story in next month's Pennsylvania Musician, and I did the interview with them afterward for the article, what a hoot!
It was great to see a filled room for this double-bill, as well as all the Rockpagers. Very cool to meet SpellboundByMetal for the first time, and YankeeRose indeed had roses on her jeans. Lotsa nametags, too, although I think there were five "nosurrender's" there last night, lol!
And the Hitching Post's ribs - to die for! (Along with obligatory dozen "gold" wings, also very good stuff.) I ate well....

You know what, at first I was gonna say .00 buck could not be cool because of no drummer, cuz DRUMMERS RULE....BUT! I realized throughout the set, the audience was doin a fine job of playin the rhythms out on table tops! So kudos to that fellas! Great talent in that band, great music...Yer daddy's country!
Thanks to everyone that showed up last night and special thanks to Blind Jonny Death for inviting us. It was a little unnerving to play a first gig in front of a full house plus having BJD setting there watching. That hour flew by! We definitely look forward to sharing the stage with the Hellbound Hayride in the future and to getting out playing some full shows starting next month.
Lots of singing along and lots of pseudo drummers banging on the table tops! The reception we received really bowled us over!
Thanks to Brian and John for all their hard work. It only gets better from here on out so be ready to get "Buck Wild" with the boys from .00 Buck!

Great night for all, especially liked the early start on a week night. I saw 2 entertaining bands and was still able to go to work today. (Dammed need for money!)
I almost fell over when I first read Rob's nametag--no surrender LOL
There is something special about the sound of a Tele and country music.
