After some of the recent bickering, hijacking of threads, and other troublesome stuff that's appeared here lately, I thought it would be a good idea to review some of the rules and regulations for posting here on Rockpage. These are excerpts from "The Rules" thread, listed under the "Help" section in the forums:
Show respect at all times.
Personal attacks are prohibited. This specifically means any text/post that is blatantly attacking another person on or off the forum, especially in a personal way.
Trolling is prohibited.Trolling is whenever someone is clearly, deliberately posting in a manner for the purpose of angering and/or insulting the other participants of the board. Trolling DOES NOT encourage further discussion in the long run, it only encourages personal attacks (if left unchecked).
Off Topic posts are not prohibited, but should be posted within reason. If a topic that exists is better suited to a post, the post may be moved to that topic. There are some topics that are not appropriate for the forums. All posts are subject to these rules. Excessive off topic posts will be dealt with on a case by case basis. All Forums have a main topic. When starting a new thread, make sure you do so in the proper Forum.
Posting of pornography, racist or otherwise discriminating remarks, threats to cause physical or mental harm, extreme offensive language, material that breaks any law or otherwise totally unacceptable posts or links to pages that contain the aforementioned material may result in an immediate ban from the forums.
Bans and warnings are not to be discussed on the forums. Any inquiries or comments or bans are to be sent in private messages or via email. A moderator may choose to publicly inform the participants of a forum about bans and warnings if this is in the interest of the forum.
And keep in mind:
Rockpage shall have the right to immediately terminate any Participant's use of the Rockpage site if Rockpage determines in its sole discretion that Participant has violated the Rules of Conduct set forth herein or otherwise breached this agreement, or has engaged in conduct which Rockpage determines in its sole discretion to be unacceptable.
To those who have expressed concern over the recent bickering, flame wars, "trolling" and hijacking of threads, be assured that we are monitoring the situations, and some disciplinary actions on this board may be forthcoming.
There is no slippery slope here. Rockpage is a privately owned entity, and by signing up, you agreed to the rules and regulations that are in place here. All you've been doing is starting flame wars since you've been online here.
Re-read the rules. The 1st Amendment does not apply here. Period.

blah blah blah..
i know this. but if your going to turn a [privately] owned bored into a figment of your own imagination then good luck.
no one will post. it will die a slow death. yes, you can [almost] anything with your own bored but always expire to the greater GOOD! Let people talk and expres there ideas! creating a boared like this is a wonderful exchange of ideas but don't teun it ugly, imo. allow a free exchange of ideas.. don't censor!!
"You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit."
So quit whining about censorship. You agreed to have your posts censored upon signup. Deal with it, or leave. I'm done being nice.

Dude (used loosely), where did you go to school? Take a few notes...the first lesson is free.
Bored - To make a hole in or through, with or as if with a drill.
Board - A usually large, vertically positioned flat surface used for writing or posting.
Your - Used as a modifier before a noun: your boots; your accomplishments.
You're - Contraction of you are.
And I have no idea what "expire to the greater GOOD!" means? Unless you were somehow trying to use the word inspire?
The rules should also require some general level of literacy, which you obviously lack.

This is a good one How ever it dIdn't work in my case I've been personally attacked Directly and indirectly, and it was on purpose, and when I rebuttled it was locked but I spoke the truth and NOTHING but the truth, but the post aginst me was left open for everyone and anyone to pillage, Just an Observation NOT and repeat NOT trying to stir Up problems,
"Expire", "inspire", "aspire"...
You want to know something? It's entirely possible ns is trying to help us with our knowledge of the English Language! As evidenced above, see the positive exchange and flow of ideas when trying to decipher what ns meant?

You're the last person who should be lecturing us on John Stuart Mill's Freemarket Place of Ideas. I'm pretty sure that Mr. Mill wasn't taking asinine garbage into consideration when he concoted his philosophy on intellectual freedom.

In the words of the great Michael Kelso: BURN!!!!
Someone should do a photoshopped pic of Kelso with the word "Burn" underneath for such situations when a poster burns another in such an awesome fashion.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
Whether you like no surrender or not, she is entitled to at least some measure of respect. Too many of these threads degenerate into a game of "let's gang up to make fun of the unpopular person". That's not pretty in real life, and it's not pretty on here.
JP and Ron can handle the cleanup . . . they give the trolls enough rope to build a bridge, but a true troll will always tie their own noose with it instead.
Thats all nice and all Jimi but on here where we know each other in real life, that is what its all about.
Someone that hides an identity does not get my respect at all. Hell ive been in violation of the rules many times and i will try to stop that. But atleast you know who is saying what.
Maybe if we got to know him/her at shows it would be a nicer place.
Im still getting a lump of coal for x-mas

JP wanted to remind some people about the rules that they "AGREED" to when they joined.
What is there to discuss or comment on. The rules are what they are - no discussion is necessary. If you don't want to abide by the rules - you do not need to be a member of Rockpage.

Dave, it was only his 11th post. I think he was just trying to poke a little fun at himself with my post from the other thread and he just didn't quote it.
This all makes my head hurt.
I bet if we started a thread where we revealed our real names, only two people would decline to do so. I already know who one of them is (and it's not because she's a troll) , and the other one knows they're in the wrong and simply lacks the meat-and-two-veg to confront anyone in real life.
Am I the only one who notices the bad eggs ARE NOT MUSICIANS?
Sorry, all, there was once a time when being a musician had a certain cachet... a mystique, and there was a line between the audience and performer. The only way to cross that line was real-world practice, real-world talent, and real-world dues-paying. Crossing that line without the benefit of experience, to me, is like practicing medicine without a license. Hey, I've watched some of those surgery-gross-out shows on Discovery, somebody hand me a scalpel. Karaoke was a huge blow to that difference between musician and hack. So is the internet... anybody can say any f*cking thing, and I gotta listen. Well, I say no.
Nosurrender: No. I don't have to take anything you say to mean anything at all. You're all hat and no cowboy, and you need to get over it. That's as politely as I can put it.
Gazoo: No. I don't have to treat you as an equal, not until you stop pushing buttons and start creating art. When a grade-schooler plays his or her first recital, they have achieved something you feel you cannot. This forum is for musicians.
To both of you: Nobody has ever told either one of you something very obvious... YOU are the only reason you are not musicians. You. No talent?... hell, I'm living proof you don't need talent... I have no talent, but I want it so bad and love music so much that it motivates me to work hard until I get it right. I hardly ever get it right, but that's kinda the point of trying. If you two wanted to be musicians, you could be, just like anybody can, but instead you try to minimize what everyone else has accomplished, it's a lot easier than sacrificing and working like the rest of us. We've earned one another's mutual respect and admiration by playing well and we all know how difficult that is... do you, the button-pushers and armchair critics? Tonight I saw James Cotton play in Johnstown... by the end of the show, only 30 or 40 people were left, but I cheered and applauded like a swooning idiot, and do you know why? Because he deserved it. He's a blues legend who drove from Chicago to play for a bunch of blue-blood white folks who couldn't be bothered to stay for his second set, and he deserved my applause and adulation for his work. Do you deserve it?
