Post by Bit*chenWomen1029 »

new thread time:

IF you became a big ROCK STAR, would you leave everything you have here ? Would you turn in to a a**hole? Would you divorce you wife for a hot new model?

Believe it or not i would continue to post on rockpage. I would continue on partying and drinking my jack daniels until i passed out. Where ever we played i would have a band that was local play ahead of us. To help them geta chance that nobody else would. Ummmm well have alot of women. I am not going to lie about that. :D But a house that i can afford and not something really big that i couldn't keep up with my self. I don't see the point in having a 24 car garage. Or having 50 cars that is a waste. Still talk to my friends and sign autographs for people that waited around because with out your fans you wouldn't be where you are.

I always have believed that everything you have can be takin from you in a blink of an eye. So no If I became famous I would want to have the same friends and things in life that i have now. Money is great don't get me wrong, but as 99% percent of you would agree with me that money just makes a person greedy and an A--hole.

I'dddd blow all my money on shoes. SHOES MORE SHOES. clothes. Eat in fancy. I'd definitely leave here but I'd know where my roots are and I'd visit my family and help them out financially. As far as relationships, I think I would want someone who is trustworthy and wouldn't want me for my money. I wouldn't leave who i was with. Those kinds of relationships are hard to find.. I'm sure someone in the world would think I was an asshole b/c I didn't give them 5 minutes for an autograph...but such is life.

I'd give my kids the chance to get the best education money could buy, pay off my bills, pay off my ma,pa,sis, & bro's bills , take our whole family to Disney World, buy a nice boat but, not a huge boat, a small island, flying lessons of course and a chopper (like T.C.'s on Magnum P.I. but, painted like ZZ TOP's old red coupe), hire my own fish'n pro to go along with me whenever I want to go fish'n and maybe a nice supply of beans ( ya know, in case of an emergency  !) That's just a few things I'd do.

..............................................................Well back to reality I guess!

I'm happeir now more than I've ever been in my life as far as family and
life in general goes. I don't think I'd truly trade any of it for all the fame and fortune in the world! :D

It sure would be alot of fun to be rich for a little while though.

I would most likely keep my home here or buy a nicer one. Make sure my kids are well educated and they would be spoiled rotten with Star Wars toys, Bratz dolls and whatever else they wanted. I would also build an underground studio in the middle of nowhere. I would buy every guitar, bass, amp, drumset, and keyboard I ever wanted stuff it all in there and not come out until I run out of ganja. (That would be a while cause I would have a hydro system set up for year round smokage.)And yes, you guessed it. I already am an asshole so money wouldn't change that much at all.

I would take the first round of money and pay off my student loans (45,000 - after grants and scholarships.. 20,000) - I would pay off my ex fiances student loans, my best friends student loans, i would buy my parents a nice condo somewhere near cocoa beach or tampa bay. I would buy myself a reliable car (a Honda hybrid) - a nice house in Palmyra or Lebanon. I would buy this massive studio, so i could record constantly, and i would buy flyers tickets, ice level, for 10 years.. anything else, would be excessive..

I'd develop an eating disorder and a deep drug addiction, and spiral out of control, until death would seem like a welcome respite from my self-imposed suffering. Then I'd hit one of those Carribean rehabs for a month, and write a book about my experiences. I'd take the money from that, and develop yet another drug problem.
Then again, maybe I'd just buy a Les Paul. ---------->JMS

:D I'd buy myself an Island, out in the middle of the Sea. I'd take all my friends there with me and I'd make everything for free. 8)

I'd probaly invest most of my money. I'd probaly still do an assitanceship in graduate school because it'd help build my resume.

Man, I'm too practical for my own good. :D

Of course, I could say that I'd develope a raging coke habit; marry and divorce three different throphy wives; and talk about my 3 million dollar mansion complete with gold plated toilet fixtures, but we all know where that leads a person: Onto an episode of Behind the Music talking about how I was rich at one point, but now I'm three tiers below the poverty line busing tables at Denny's.

LMAO! Well done!

I'd have to say, I would blow all the money on toys. My list (in no particular order) would go a little like this:

Rides:

-I'd Finish my '63 T-bird (or have Chip Foose or Boyd Coddington do it).
-Buy some sort of Hotrod like a '40s Dodge pickup hopped up out the wazoo.
-I'd have some sort of lowrider with big ol honkin gold wire rims, hydraulics, and suede and velvet throughout.
-I'd have some sort of exotic supercar like the Jaguar XJ220, Mclaren F1, Pagani Zonda, Bugatti Veyron 16 cylinder, Ferrari Enzo, F50, or F40 etc....
- I'd have some sort of bike- chopper, crotch rocket, whatever. I don't know how to ride, so I'd probably end up killing it and/or myself.
-My brother would have his Dodge Magnum Hemi all decked out.
-My mom's Buick would be rollin on 22s
-My dad would have his choice of truck and muscle car.

The list of basses would be endless. Here is a VERY short one:

-Alembics
-Wals
-Modulus
-Pulcinellas
-Tobias
-USA Spectors
-Foderas, Carl Thompsons, Benaventes, Ritters, Warriors, Conklins and a bunch of other exotic 'boutique' basses

The list of 'cheaper' basses would include:

-Yamaha Attitude Anniversary (one in purple and one in black)
-Yamaha RBX6JM 2 Myung sig
-an old Kramer XL-8 8 string
-some fully-loaded Carvins (They have great tone)
-and a lot of basses with Lane Poor pickups and/or Kahler tremolo bridges!

I don't think I'd buy a humongoid house. I'd just have a monstrous garage to house everything, a studio (even though I wouldn't know the first thing about how to use it), and a large woodshop.
I wouldn't mind having a place like Malmsteen's. I heard he has his house wired up so that he can plug his axe into any room in the house and be able to hear it throughout the whole house!

I think I'll quit there. I could go on for hours but I now have to mop up my puddle of drool and get the $$ signs out of my eyes.

Ohh yeah....and I'd have a herd of dogs- Greyhounds, Huskys, and a Pitbull named Muffins.

Believe it or not, I actually had that typed in the list, but I thought that was too exotic and that nobody would have even heard of them!

I'll go ahead an add a few more companies my list of dream basses:

Roscoe
Smith
Adler Sub-Contra
F bass (Furlanetto of Canada)
Leduc
Dingwall (w/ fanned fret or multi-scale f-board)
Zon Hyperbass (Go Manring!)
Marleaux
Andreas (original Basking Shark- may become a reality if I can get some cash saved up!)
Armen (I also have the opportunity to get the Pete VI fretless for a great price...I just need money)
Status Graphite
Tune (I love these things! I have my second one on the way)
Lado (I had one but I foolishly sold it! Damn my greed!)
Parker
Bossa
Nordstrand
Sukop (Drool!)
Tung (less than 100 exist. Double drool!)
Curbow
Yancy (an engineer not too much older than myself (mid 20's) built great stuff with great original ideas)
Stambaugh (Great price for the type of basses he builds)
Pedulla Buzz (Fretless of course)
David King (A very skilled luthier)
Kawai (poor man's Alembic)
Schack (36" scale like some CT basses)
JayDee
Sandberg
Kinal
Skjold
Acacia (Used to be made right here in PA)
Ken Bebensee
Atlansia (weird stuff)
Auerswald (yeah right! Very weird stuff)
Spalt (Even weider stuff)
Rick Tuner Renaissance
Rob Allen
Bogart Graphite (bowling ball finish)

There are a few more that I am just curious about, like original Steinberger graphites and Kubicki Factor basses just to know what the big deal is.

If you bassists are bored check these companies out! They aren't cheap, but who knows....you may just find where to get your next bass! PM me if you want a compiled list of cool manufacturers and sites.

To everyone else.....I apologize for this post! I couldn't help myself. This is what I do all day at class. I research exotic basses and make mental notes of ones that I love!

A few great websites to check out mounds of exotic basses are:

Bassalone.com

Basscentral.com

BassNW.com

BassPalace.com

Bunnybass.com

Thelowend.net (their gallery is very well compiled, although it only includes basses that have come thru their store.)

Enjoy, my fellow brown note playin thump monkeys!

Again I apologize for getting off topic.
