"Peace", gentlemen, couldn't we have it? SIGH, I thought not.

I've said it before, possibly in this Thread, I couldn't tell you the last Music Video I saw or the last time I saw MTV and when I even watch TV, only when there's nothing else on do I watch VH1...and I mean "nothing else". Which leaves me to ponder...if there are those who so "GREATLY dislike" Rap and Hip Hop, WHY IN HEAVEN'S NAME are they watching their Video's? To feed their dislike, or could it be a case of, "methinks they doth protest too much!"? I can see it now, UCJoe and lonewolf in private, putting on their Bling and rockin' out to Ludacris!

Oh God, this is gonna get ugly real quick, ROTFL!!

I don't watch MTV as a rule, since they don't show videos. At least not when I ever see MTV. If it's "Music Television", shouldn't they show videos? OOPS, I'm sorry, that's what MTV2 is for...

Of course we can have peace. Nobody seems to be arguing, anyway. That's a good sign.

Like I said...I occasionaly watch them for laughs. Some of the lyrics are so ridiculous I can't stop laughing. The Black-Eyed-Peas are a riot:

What you gon’ do with all that junk?
All that junk inside that trunk?
I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.
What u gon’ do with all that ass?
All that ass inside them jeans?
I’m a make, make, make, make you scream
Make u scream, make you scream.
Cos of my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely lady lumps.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump,
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump.
My lovely lady lumps

This stuff is priceless!

I had no idea that was The Black Eyed Peas...I caught part of it once, didn't care for it and changed the Radio Station. I thought that it was silly, nothing about it piqued my interest, but that's just my preference. On their first CD, "Hey Momma"...THAT got my attention the first time I heard it! Aw, does lonewolf have a thing for Fergie?

MTV is a misnomer. I always thought that they should change their name to PopCultureTV.

Maybe they ought to get smart and start booking bands!? lol
i think the reason why most bars etc... are booking dj's is because now a days kids are in to the rap scene and not the rock scene anymore!!!

They would rather jump on the dance floor and shake their butt and grind to rap then rock!! The new age likes rap!

Just my opinion!
If you think about is there more older people at your shows then you see young 21 year olds?
you tell me that was a question!!

Plus at least with older people theres generally nicer people and LESS fighting!

Classics at one time did book local bands for a while on the weekends a few years back. It didnt work out.

They still do bands during the week. Its mostly punk / heavy metal for the under 21 set. Those get a great turn out from what I am told. More so than when they did bands on the weekends. A lot Less problems as well - beer muscles aren't a factor.

The crowd that shows up on the weekends there are of all ages and not just 21 year olds - far from it. I use to work on the door before I started bartending again so I got to see first hand how old these folks really are. It suprised me how many 35 - 40 +yr olds are in attendance each weekend. The fighting hardly happens anymore and when it does it's mostly guys who are way over the age of 21 and usually over something really stupid.

I have worked for 10 yrs at a place locally that did all bands as well and there was just as much fighting and just as many mean people. You are going to get that with every group.

Classic Attitudes is a HUGE place and the few times I've been there,
I thought they had nice sized crowds. I do think they'd get even more people there, if people knew where the heck it was at!
A person going there from Altoona has to turn onto 31st Street.
There is no sign for Mill Run Road. If they had on their radio ads, "turn on 31st St. and it becomes Mill Run Rd." or something of the sort, I believe they'd get more people out there. From personal experience, people don't know where Mill Run Rd. is, especially MANY who are not from the area, even those that live in Altoona. That's a fact.

I have worked there since Jan/Feb its been nice. Its not the same as working in a club that does bands every weekend. To me thats the only down side. I miss getting to hear something different every week. Been trying to talk the powers that be into bringing bands back on fridays.

The crowds are nice but no where what it use to be back in its heyday. The Dj recently has sorta been replaced on Friday nights.
Music is still played but the dance floor is now occupied with a mechanical bull and Sumo Suits. The money wheel for singing karaoke has started to draw more people in too. I have been working on a web site for the place to help with the directions part. We'll have to see how that goes.

YankeeRose -If you ever have any problems again with grabby dudes grab one of the bouncers and let them know. They can usually tactfully handle the situation so it doesn't repeat or get worse. Next time you are there stop say hi - Car bar on fridays or the Tiki Bar on Sat. If you go down the slides use the one closest to the entrance to the pool room bar Funny story there.. ;)
Starr- you aren't the only one who has tripped up or down them steps.. I managed to do it last week and I was sober.. lol

Thanks Danette, that was very sweet of you! I haven't been in there since Felix and the Hurricanes were there. If they were to ever get a band in that I'd like to see, I'll most likely go back...and the bouncers were there, I got the feeling they either knew the jerk or were enjoying the "show"...ah,
what the hell...I'll "share"...I pushed him back with my left, drew back my right and a l m o s t decked him - but this was ONLY after us all repeatedly and I mean "repeatedly", telling him to knock it off. He got the message, needless to say, later came over to me and apologized out at the bar, but then had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to go home with him, in so many words...I told him "no, I'm fine, thanks" and walked back to my friends LAUGHING MY ASS OFF!

Sorry that the bouncers didnt help you out. I think since the bands played there are different guys working now. Or just tell me and I will make sure it gets handled.. lol Hopefully we will start having bands again in the near future.

I don't get to see the dance floor from either bar I work on either night. I miss out on all the fun! :( I do recall one night some of my girl friends and I went up there for something different to do (when I was still working at the ba that does only bands) During the course of the night some jerk tried dancing with us. We all kept turning our backs on him. Didn't phase dude in the least because then he went up behind the one gal in our group and started trying to freak dance on her. She reached back and firmly grabbed a hold of his junk. Dude got a big grin. I guess he thought he was going to lucky. The grin quickly turned into a big :o face and then disgust as my friend leaned back and said to him "Is that all you got"?.
He left us all alone after that

Well, Danette, this was like probably 2 or 3 years ago...but they did get to her pretty quickly...I just laughed at her cuz she was makin' an ass out of herself...lol...

The place is an awesome building to have bands...that dance floor kicks ass but there are other parts of the bar you can be in too to do your own thing. I hope that things go well for it in the future. It has great potential.
