A thought to ponder.....

Post by nightcrawler_steve »

Wow.....reading Rockpage the last week has been....well....really quite disturbing. Trolls, negativity, grumpiness, band no-shows, band bashing, hate and just a general sense of unhappiness and bitching.

Were certaily all entitled to all of these feelings from time to time and this is a place to express all...good and bad. But Ive always come on here for info, to learn something positive or I dont know....its a community here. Lately a lot of folks are tearing people and music down.

So I hope that we all take a breath of fresh air this weekend, walk the dog, hug your kid, have a drink, read some scripture, spank your monkey or make a little love....have a great gig, enjoy a good show and SUPPORT live music in general.

And try to remember....were musicains and fans.....were a special breed. Lets try a little harder to accept each other, embrace something different, offer an olive branch instead of an insult, build each other up instead of tear each other down and remember why we do this in the first place. We can all coexist together, all different genre and tastes. Lets make this communtiy the best it can be.

Long live live music and what it means.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Steve

PS....and if you need help to lift your spirits.....come to see the Nightcrawlers at Pelligrines this Sunday....were sure to put a smile on your face!!!

WHADDYA MEAN THERE'S TOO MUCH NEGATIVITY HERE ON ROCKPAGE!!!!!???? @#%$&!!!!! WHY I OUGHTTA.....! (just kidding)

Kudos Steve for hitting the nail on the head. Let's chill out, folks, too many mean spirits and people jumping down each other's throats here lately, not a cool thing.

And regarding threads, I've seen more highjackings this past week here on Rockpage than Beirut probably has had all month... It's bad when Ron has to lock down three threads in one week due to flame wars and bickering. There's room for everybody's opinion here, let's be civil.

GROOVY, faaar out, Peace, man! Bit'chen, there's nothing wrong with being a tie-dye wearing Hippie...I lament that I only own 2 cool female tie-dye tops and I'm going to wear them out from wearing them so much. I even have a tie-dye Scooby Doo t-shirt with Peace Signs all over it! :)

Another thought to ponder..."Life is not all Sunshine and Roses" and
"when feeling threatened, a person will react". There aren't many who haven't said a few choice words to a Troll, OR OTHERS and had Flame Fests, I was just the only one to have Threads Locked over it. So be it. I pretty much understand where EVERYONE is coming from, except for Trolls and of course, non-Steelers fans! :)

*breaks out the bong and hands everyone a hose* :D

Seriously, there has been a lot of negativity here latley. I really don't know what it is. Maybe egos are getting in the way; maybe it's jealousy. I try to be respectful of everyone I come across, and everyone who's ever met me in real life knows that I'm pretty laid back (my bandmates only ever witnessed me fly off the handle once over some bitch at last summer's End of Summer Jam, but that's a rant for a different thread :D ). I do occasionally jump down people's thoats, but it's usually because they have their heads up their asses over some issue. I'm sorry, but if you cancel a gig because you don't want to set-up your equipment, you deserve to AT LEAST have your balls busted. I also get irked with the "We play avant-garde death metalcore originals and we aren't drawing 500 people" whining posts that I seem to be reading as of late. But enough about that.......

If there's one thing I've learned about the music business, it's that more friends are better than less. The people who are burning bridges now are going to regret it later on in life. Most bands eventually break-up and when it comes time to start a new band or join one, people are going to remember who you are. I'm straight-up with people, and if I like you, I like you; if I don't, I don't. There's a lot of people here I've met in real life and most I've them I've jammed with at one time or another. I consider them good friends, even if I haven't seen them in quite a while. I'm going to the Hexhead gig tomorrow not just because I want to check out a new band, but also because I consider Rob a friend. If you're my friend, I'll usually make it a point to come check out your band. I have no aspirations to be a Rockstar. I just want to be as successful as possible, make a few bucks, hopefully be taken half-seriously as a musician, and have fun. There's a lot of crooks and slimeballs in this business, but the quality people I've met while doing this far outweighs the dickheads.

Wow, I feel all warm and fuzzy after posting this. :D

I know why everyone is a bit grumpy and bitter......It's because of FALL! With all of these dead, rotting, and decaying leaves and the smell of them burning and smoking, it's no wonder why people are mad. Add on top of that the fact that winter is coming. Very few people like cold snowy weather, so they get grumpy! (I love winter and am anxiously awaiting the end of fall, so I've been a very happy kid lately!)

If you're lookin for something to 'pass the buck' to, blame good 'ol Mother Nature......................

What about my feminine side?!? I'm not a guy that's afraid to get in touch with his feminine side! I enjoy a nice soak in a hot bubble bath with a good romance novel, some candles and incense burning, mood lighting, and some nice classical music in the background just as much as the next guy!

I mean.....ummm....I.............uhhhhh.................AWW Crap! (Done in my best Peter Griffin voice)

Last time I tried to get Jamie to touch his feminine side, he thought that was an invite for me to bring a woman home for a lesbian encounter of the third kind...
