no surrender, FOAD, pretty please? My favorite as a child was when my older sister helped me dress up and put makeup on me, as a Gypsy. She's 10 years older than I am and at that point was possibly still in Cosmetology at the Vo-Tech. I had a dark print scarf around my head, she pulled my hair back a bit and put a big hoop earring on my 1 ear, gave me dangling beads and I had on a shirt and long skirt with a late 60s to early 70s gold chain type long belt around my waist. I loved it! She has the only picture of me dressed up like that. Some friends and I dressed up in '40s attire...I still fit in my mom's size 6 shoes then - I was 12, I think and my mom had "authentic" clothing...a year or two later and my feet had grown to size 8 1/2, 9!
The only thing was, the shoes had cut out toes and it had snowed...we froze and ended up cutting that night short. The next night we went to another, larger town, but wore different shoes. (Anyone ever do that? Go to more than one town?) One of my most fun things to dress up in, though not really a "Costume" per say, was dressing up a year or 2 later in my brother's Army BDUs with all my hair tucked up in the hat - as long as I didn't speak, I had people fooled that I was a boy! I even dressed up in them as a young adult, for a party at a Club, but nobody mistook me for a male then!

Some of the best I've seen were in high school and last night! "Sweet Nipples/Mike", wearing a pretty Powder Blue Bustier/Teddy, but the most original, I thought, was the "Rubber Maid"...she was carrying a Feather Duster, had on a "Maid" outfit and hanging from the Skirt was none other than a box of Condoms! A friend since Kindergarten was once a Mummy...she worked for an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the time and had plenty of white "mummy wrapping" at her disposal.
You couldn't tell it was her! In high school, some Classmates were "Coneheads" one year. In my Junior year of high school for Dress Up Day, 2 dudes, both "jocks", dressed up as "A Pimp and 1 of His Girls". What this meant, I never did find out, but the Pimp even had Nail Polish on 1 of his Pinky finger nails and he wore a silk shirt, gold chains and a hat, with a long feather in it. Alan was a HOOT as a Pimp and I wondered about the "girl". In the picture in our Senior Yearbook, Dave looks "very" comfortable in his wig, earrings, dress and nylons! (I actually WAS comfortable that day, going to school as a "little girl", wearing my footed jammies, fuzzy bedroom slippers, hair in Pigtails and carrying my Teddy Bear!)

What about you, Bit'chen? THANKS for the memories!

For those of you of my advanced age, weren't those hard plastic masks terrible, especially when the condensation from your breath would build up on the inside and just about freeze your face? They'd crack a bit on the edges and hurt, too. My fav costume with one of those masks as a young child was a Skeleton.

When I was in Jr Highschool myself and three friends dressed up as KISS for halloween. It was the first time we actually put hard time into our costumes, and they were awsome. No one saw it coming, because everyone else was digging Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains at the time. Sadly it was a very cold trick or treat night, and tight spandex suits left little bragging rights that evening. It was cold out, I swear...hehehe.

Tonight I will be in a black and white fuzzy animal suit (as seen on myspace). If you see me out, give me a scratch, but don't pull my tail--I hate that.
