When a band member leaves a band , i think others should realize that when they are trashing the former band that it's probably MADE UP or its of jealousy.ETC
I Just feel that all the other bands in the area have to put this in mind when you hear " such and such said your band really sucks" . You have to look at your source and why did this person get kicked out or leave the band they are trashing!! I know some who have had this expeirence already with a former member that was in their band, telling another band that they said that they sucked or were untalented etc. WHICH IS TOTALLY NOT TRUE AND THE BAND WOULD NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER SAY A IGNORANT THING ABOUT ANOTHER BAND!!
Keep this in mind!!!When you are hearing someone bash another band DONT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR!!

I never judge a band by what I hear from others...only what I hear with my ears...it's like movies...alot of times I hear a movie sucked when infact.,,, i liked it...same with music....I don't down grade anyone that works hard...I'd rather see a bad band with a good attitude then a good band that has a bad attitude and thinks they are all that....I hate ones that update their page but you don't see anything new....and their song list is a mile long but they don't play all thats on there...You don't have to be on the top 10...it doesn't make you the best....Let us judge that....There are alot of GREAT bands on here and they don't click their page just to be on the list...I have seen many at Lakemont Park...and they are not on the top 10....some get alot of clicks and they havn't updated in months!!!!...are your readers slow?...sorry just my opinion...like I said in the begining...maybe mine stinks too.........
Well Bitchenwomen, I think you really hit the mark!!!! This is so true and I have witnessed this with a band I knew years ago. They were all great musicians but they all had ego's that lead to a band member quitting. The sad part the band member that quit never said a bad thing about the band but the band proceeded to say how much he sucked and so forth. So why is that people always have to hurt other people for no reason?? Perhaps it is the mystery of the anonomous person's behind the computer that feel empowered to slander. Always remember people when you point the finger you got three more pointing back at you. I know this is true because I let myself become a part of the finger pointing. It doesn't make me look any better or the person whom I'm pointing at. Always remember so aren't out to hurt you but there is always some that will. Remember, everyone or most are in a band here so that right there tells me that they are all talented or else they wouldn't be on these pages!! Why don't they think about that before they start slandering???
What I've always found funny about this subject is the fact that if you
are badmouthing your bandmates, you are badmouthing yourself!
Think about it, if you really thought they sucked, why did you join the
band in the first place? You typically practice together before playing
any gigs (right?). This is where you judge talent level, and decide if you
want to be part of it. Quit before you play out if you think they suck.
Everything you say and do with your band affects all members. Keep
this in mind when you judge, or spout off about them. Everyone has
their faults, we're only human. People leave bands for many reasons,
judge the facts not the person.
Also, if you think the band sucks don't go see them anymore (and typically pay).
As far as people talking smack,
rumors and crap like that, I say, "consider the source" and "the truth will always come out - this side or the next"... These 2 points to ponder have helped me to handle a lot of strife.
Thats a part of being a musician, people are gonna like you, and people are going to hate your guts. If you got praise from everyone, you would be the biggest band in the world. There are people that dont like a style of music, and call another band shit, its the way it works. Some bands are trashing other bands out of pure jealousy. Im sure that there are bands around here that trashed Breaking Benjamin, Fuel, and Halestorm, but look where they went. Its all a matter of "is the other band jealous" and what kind of music you like.
