Why Bars Hire DJ's II

Last Night at 6pm I got a call from GIN & JUICE or whatever thier new name is telling me they couldn't play so I should go ahead and book another band, WITH 4 whole hours NOTICE !!! I Love Live Music More than anyone in this town, but if I had booked a DJ, I have never had one cancel and as sad as it is in this day and age the crowds are usually better. THIS IS A BUSINESS. EVEN IF IT IS THE PARTY BUSINESS IT IS STILL A BUSINESS I Like you have debt, that I planned on paying with the income from last night. Some of you guy and you know who you are are "not showing" your selves out of venues, not because we don't want you but because we are not going to be here !!!

Like Big John said, most bars --- big and small -- pay the week's bills with the Saturday night receipts. Monday through Friday, most are lucky if they break even.

If you think you're NOT working for the bar or the bartenders, you're fuckin' delusional. They don't book you because they love to watch you play. The bar business is not a hobby. It's a tough racket and our purpose is to do what we can to make that business prosper, AT LEAST for one night a week.

I don't know what happened in your situation, Big John, so I won't comment, but I do know what happened at the Tavern, and it's fuckin' bullshit.

Wow. Having been associated with the band, I feel bad even though I'm not in the band anymore, because I booked that date. Sorry about that, John.
