I remember when I was younger, I use to think that the lyrics to Stone Temple Pilot's Creep were

"I'm half the man I use to be
(Loreena Bobbitt got to me)

instead of what they really are:

I'm half the man I use to be
(This I feel as the dawn, it fades to gray)

And I thought that the line about Bobby having a gun was about Bobbitt having a gun. It made sense to me at the time.

I was was actually listed on that site for quite some time due to a submission that I made.....

As a freshman in college, I played acoustic gigs throughout Johnstown, and of course I played Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffett.....for some odd reason I was determined that the line was...."blew out my flip-flop, stepped on a pop-tart" instead of the more sensible "blew out my flip-flop, stepped on a pop-top"....I was actually incriminated by some friends, and we had a hell of a laugh, and I submitted it to www.kissthisguy.com and it was posted for a while, I'll have to check to see if it is still there.....we have all had our moments.....

We used to cover "Show Me How To Live" by Audioslave. When we first learned it, our bass player, Future Bobby (bassist_25), thought it was funny because, as he explained, in a former project, his singer confused the first part of the first verse:
Audioslave wrote:And in the early dawn, moving right along, I couldn't buy an eye full of sleep ...
His singer would sing:

"And in the early dawn, moving right along, I couldn't buy an ASS full of SEED ..."

After he told that story, I pretty much went with the alternate lyrics just to see if FB could keep himself composed on stage.

BTW, this new Fallout Boy song (Sugar, We're Goin' Down) is a prime candidate for misinterpreted lyrics ...

That's what she said.

Ah yes, that was good ole' Ed Sommerville who interpreted the Audioslave lyrics as "Ass full of seed". You'd have to know Ed personally to get the full humour of it.

I think just about everyone has misheard lyrics and children are a RIOT! My 8 year old is constantly cracking me up. Me? I felt like such a total idiot (of the no surrender variety...) when, EONS ago, I was happily singing along, "the boys of Macon town, the boys of Macon town", in my boyfriend's '71 Chevelle and he informed me the chorus was only "The Boys Are Back In Town", by Thin Lizzy. I was of the "please hey, Whoopee Cats, all get in line..." instead of "please hey, would we care to all get in line..." people for "Misty Mountain Hop", as well.
