You can see that song on Nov 5th at City Limits...(Hint, Hint)
Sorry Rob we have other plans that night but we will get out to see you guys soon. Ed can't say enough about you. And he even said a few nice things!!!!
THAT'S interesting 313, never heard UFO version...not Love's best song but I do like Love, thought this was a band no-one else heard of. Most of their stuff sounds pretty out-dated now, but a really good song with great guitar to check out is called Live and Let Live. That would be cool to cover, but with a British accent.
Best cover I know of is All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix (Bob Dylan), more to follow.

William Shakespeare
Type O' - Day Tripper (Beatles)
GN'R - Hair of the Dog (Naz.) ---- Good Call!
The Badlees - Mr. Heatmeiser (????)
CCR (or Fogerty??) - Night and Day (Ray Charles)
Live - I walk the line (J.C.)
Social D - I fought the Law (bob fuller)
Our Lady Peace - Drive (The Cars)
Guns N' Roses - Mama Kin (Aerosmith)
Metallica - Whiskey in a Jar (Irish folk ballad - Thin Lizzy)
Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson - inspiration for Third Standard's version of Billie Jean)
Van Halen - Ice Cream Man, You Really Got Me, Pretty Woman and all of the other covers that they did, cause they did damn near all of them great
and I must include The Clarks version of Springsteen's "The River" although it was critically panned, it was a damn good job in my eyes, especially since they have the local flavor to relate to the lyrics (Johnstown Company, etc.)
OK, got my list together of covers I enjoy more than the original...you might think its weird, sorry, no metal.
1. Lovesong - Tori Amos (the Cure)
2. Black Magic Woman - Santana (Fleetwood Mac)
3. You Got Me Floatin - PM Dawn (Jimi Hendrix...its on that tribute album, I REALLY love the intro where all those different voices say Jimi Hendrix, Jimi Hendrix.....anyone ever hear that?)
4. Of course Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (Bob Dylan)
5. Strange Little Girls - Tori Amos (The Stranglers)
6. Senor (Tales of Yankee Power) - Jerry Garcia Band (Bob Dylan)
7. Summertime Blues - Blue Cheer (Eddie Cochran)
8. Highway 61 Revisited - Johnny Winter (Bob Dylan)
9. Born to Run - Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Bruce Springsteen)
10. Gloria - Doors (Van Morrison & Them)
11. Layla - Allman Bros when I saw them do it live (Eric Clapton)
Many more, thats all I can think of right now

Since ZappasXWife mentioned Tori Amos, I have to include Tori's remake of Eminem's "'97 Bonnie & Clyde" - Eminem did the original as a first-person account of somebody killing his wife and disposing of the body, while explaining to his daughter where they are going and where Mommy disappeared to. Tori's remake was first person from the voice of the slain mother, speaking from beyond the grave - easily one of the most creepy performances Tori has done!
I've been kicking around the the rest of my guys about trying to remake something from Hall & Oates. I'd love to remake Private Eyes or Maneater, but so far, it's all been talk and nothing more.

What about Slayer's remake of "In a Gadda Davida" from the Less Than Zero soundtrack?? This is one of the better soundtracks of all-time in my opinion. Glen Danzig and Roy Orbison worked together nicely.
A few years ago, I picked up a cd entitled "Rebellion: A Tribute to Queensryche" circa 2000. Some of the remakes are pretty good, while others aren't so good. There is one track that really stands out, which is "Someone Else". It was originally on Promised Land and it is piano and vocals. Anyway, a band called Darkness did a remake of it and it is so BADD ASS! Check it out!
Another tribute album that you might enjoy is Die Krupps Tribute to Metallica.
TOOL "No Quarter" Led Zep
Bruce Hornsby "Madman Across the Water" Elton John
Bonnie Raitt "Burning Down the House" Talking Heads
Fear Factory "Cars" Gary Numan
The Clarks "The River" Bruce Springsteen
Johnny Cash "Hurt" Nine Inch Nails
You can put kittens in the oven, but that don't make 'em biscuits.

Haven't heard that, but it sounds interesting! And also reminds me of . .
Talking Heads "Take Me to the River" (Al Green)
A few more:
Peter Tosh "Johnny B. Goode" (Chuck Berry) - neat spooky reggae version
Type O Negative "Summer Breeze" (Seals & Crofts)
Elwood "Sundown" (Gordon Lightfoot) - yeah, it's hip hop, so sue me
Soundgarden "Big Bottom" (Spinal Tap) - just cuz!
