Dont You (forget about me)

Post by SpellboundByMetal »

im kinda playing around with doing an 80's cover and making it kick ass. the definitive 80's song to me, is "dont you (forget about me)" by Simple Minds.
yes, i will admit it, the breakfast club kicked ass.
i think it will be a challenge.
hahahaha, or "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel....holy shit ...now that would be interesting.

What are your favorite remakes that kick ass?

I have a few...

"Hair Of The Dog" - Guns-N-Roses (Nazareth)

"Shock The Monkey" - Coal Chamber feat. Ozzy (Peter Gabriel)
"Low Rider" - Gary Hoey (War)
"Earache My Eye" - Scatterbrain (Cheech & Chong)
Dood...

Some of my favorite covers include:
Riot "When I was Young" (Animals)
Godz "Candy's Going Bad" (Golden Earring)
UFO "Alone Again Or" (Love)
Angel "Ain't Gonna Eat Out my Heart Anymore" (Young Rascals)
Saxon "Court of the Crimson King" (King Crimson)
Seven Witches "See You in Hell" (Grim Reaper)
Ram Jam "Black Betty" (Leadbelly)

The best remake I've heard in awhile is Graveworm doing "Losing My Religion"

Nothing makes a song like that sound better than making it black metal...

Type O Negative doing Cinnamon Girl wasn't too shabby either....

Yeah, looks as if I got dupped 4 or 5 years ago when I downloaded it. There is a bit about Dino Covelli in the file.

Sounds like Type O, though. It also sounds as if this Dino guy modeled his style after listening to Christian Woman a lot.

yeah, he tries to rip off pete's voice....and that cannot be done. it can be somewhat emulated....but not copied. dino gets a C- , hahaha. i downloaded years ago too and thought it was type o until i researched it because it didnt sound right. theres about 5 songs thought to be by type o that arent. that link covers them all.
type o's cover of NIB is pretty badass. they only do it live though.

Children of Bodom do a kickass cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell"
Dimmu Borgir does an even more kickass cover of Twisted Sister's "Burn in Hell"

and for the WORST cover to EVER be heard by human ears...Sissor Sisters' (GAYLORD EXPRESS) cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". im talking PURE butchery. MTV played the video...and i was never the same.

I have to disagree, that song wasn't really "wicked ass" it was more in the "pretty cool" genre... :D

Good call, Jim. I almost forgot that Queensryche song was a cover: http://www.canadianbands.com/Dalbello.html

Here's one that I forgot about:

Simon and Garfunkel's "Scarborough Fair" by Queensryche (I recommend it)
