What the hell is up with the Steelers and their shitty gameplan? I mean lets run the fucking ball, that's what this offense is about. They didn't wear down the defense at all, that's why they could pressure Ben so much in the later parts of the game. Gimme a break! Ben is a good QB, but he's not a big time passer! Steelers are based on running the ball and wearing down teams, tonight was painful to watch because I could have coached a better game! Get it together, or this shit will wear us down!!!!!
Stats: Ben- 12/28 He should never throw that many passes!
Willie Parker- 17 for 55 yards. Steelers should never throw more than they run! There were a total of 23 combined runs and two of them were Ben because he had no one to pass to. This irritates me dammit.

The Steelers played like crap tonight. The offense didn't block for Ben at all. They were terrible. I hope they turn it around for the rest of the year .. I think that laderal that Randel El tried to throw pretty much sealed it for them . If he wouldn't have done that we might have won the game ... Then with the way they were playing it's really hard to say ..

Randle EL will have a sore butt tomorrow morning after Cowher takes a bite out of it. Aside from dropped passes and the burger king stunt, he never, ever runs toward the endzone on a punt return. He either runs the opposite direction or toward the opposite sideline and almost never eludes the coverage. The Steeler's punt return average over the past several years is pretty bad--near the bottom. Once, I saw him run straight ahead, and he picked up something like 25 yards. This guy is exciting and talented...I just wish somebody would give him directions to the end zone.Viva la Pelt wrote:It was like Randle El was immitating that Burger King commercial.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Surely Cowher knew the Pats were going to make the field goal. Shouldn't he have called the Steelers last time out at like, 35 seconds. Given the team a chance at a couple of passes at the side lines and maybe a tying field goal??? Randel el should get an ass chewing from Bill himself. Just one game though.

I'm a Bears fan typically but I actually went to the Steeler game Sunday and I left scratching my head after watching some of the bone head plays & play mistakes they were making. I'm used to seeing things like that watching Chicago (lol) but I guess I was expecting a lot better performance against the pats.
Oh well. Still had good seats & a good time. The Bears sucked it up too so all is well & balanced in the universe.

anybody who thinks Antwaan Randel El is worthy of putting on an NFL uniform needs to be taken out back and shot in the back of the head. Granted, Im a Raiders fan myself (and we SUCK!) but when Randel El made that bonehead play et al Randel El style - I looked at myself, and then at my father sitting beside me watching it and we collectively said "what the fuck is this guy doing?" is it not good enough to have the world champs on the ropes - threatening to make them 1-2, you just made a hell of a play, you're at the end of the field - Roethlesburger is a good QB - why do anything stupid? The answer - cuz he's Antwaan Randel El - and there is a reason he played college football at Indiana..
If I were Bill Cowher, and or the owner of the Steelers - I'd be cutting his ass right now - that was a selfish, egotistical chance, and it cost them the game. He would be gone in a minute. I don't blame Roethlesburger, or Hines Ward for that play because it was all Antwaan Randel El - and nobody else's fault..
okay ive spoken my peace - later

Lost in all the Randle El bashing is the fact that the Steelers, for the 2nd time in a row, could not stop the Patriots passing attack, or them in general. Until they can, it doesn't matter what happens offensively, they will not beat them.
And maybe this was a good thing because obviously beating them in the regular season last year helped none.
I still think they can do it this year...they just have to be able to stop New England, especially when it counts.

If youth knew; if age could.
It wasn't just Randle El, there were many bone head mistakes by the offensive line, especially the 5 yards that took away a field goal. (#72). Big Ben seemed to leave the pocket too fast and ran right into some defenders on some plays.
What happened to the defense in the 4th quarter? Couldn't anyone cover a reciever?
What happened to Blitzburgh? I never saw any team pick up the blitz so well. The defense should have changed up the pass rush by the 4 th quarter, cus the N.E. line and backs were giving Brady lots or time to pick apart the defense.

Yeah, to the tune of 340 yards and over 400 total...If they don't keep New England under 300 yards, they won't beat them...undercoverjoe wrote: What happened to the defense in the 4th quarter? Couldn't anyone cover a reciever?

Yeah, they played bad on purpose. That way they can get the Pats hopes up to where they make it to the playoffs and then crush them in the final game before the superbowl ... Would be nice if it was true. But, with the way the steelers played on sunday, there is no way that could be true.RobTheDrummer wrote:I got it, the Steelers played bad on purpose, because NOBODY beats the Pats twice in a row....
There were to many mistakes. And loose playing. I guess they thought they were on vacation or something .. They musy have been thinking about Margaritaville or something ..

and i agree man - but if we are going to keep this 3rd down bullshit going - we aren't going to beat the worst team in football.. it was pathetic. we had philadelphia, on a 4th down and Cleveland - they punted the ball, and we had what, 17 people on the field. we're constantly committing stupid ass penalties on 3rd or 4th down - not to mention this year we have this revolutionary idea called - lets run the football on 3rd and 17. it's pathetisad.. it really is..jason wrote:hey- easy on the raiders... they've lost to the three best teams in football...
we beat Dallas this week. I think by week 8 if things go right we'll be 5-3 - first place in division, espically since K.C. played like shit last nite, and Denver is bi-polar. We're the only team in the division showing consistency - and even tho it's bad. it's still consistency..

Clock error adds 52 seconds to Patriots-Steelers game, aids late NE drive
By ALAN ROBINSON
AP Sports Writer
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A clock error added 52 seconds to the fourth quarter of the Patriots-Steelers game Sunday. The extra time aided the Patriots during a winning drive that ended with Adam Vinatieri’s 43-yard field goal with 1 second remaining.
The Patriots won 23-20, their fourth victory against the Steelers in five games since 2001, including AFC championship game victories during the 2001 and 2004 seasons.
The NFL acknowledged the mistake Monday, with director of officiating Mike Pereira issuing a statement: “The on-field officiating crew, which oversees the official game clock operated in the press box, failed to recognize that the clock was improperly reset.”
The mistake occurred after the second play of the fourth quarter, a reverse by Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson for no gain on second-and-10 from the Pittsburgh 30 with the Steelers ahead 13-10.
There were 14 minutes, 51 seconds remaining when the play started and, by the time, a false start penalty was called on Steelers guard Kendall Simmons, the Heinz Field clock had run down to 13:59.
But before the next play started, the clock reverted back to 14:51 — the time left before the Wilson run. Ben Roethlisberger’s incompletion on third-and-15 lasted 14 seconds and Chris Gardocki’s 51-yard punt took up 10 seconds, meaning the Patriots got the ball back with 14:19 remaining in the game rather than 13:27 if the error hadn’t occurred.
According to former NFL official Chuck Heberling, who observes the officials in a league-appointed capacity, an NFL employee in New York spotted the error and immediately called officials supervisor Johnny Grier. Grier was sitting with Heberling in the press box.
“We checked it out with the statisticians and, according to his records, everything seemed to be all right,” Heberling said. As a result, no move was made to try to correct the error.
The mistake showed up when the officiating crew, headed by referee Bill Carollo, reviewed the CBS game tape with Grier and Heberling during their usual post-game meeting in a Pittsburgh hotel.
“When we ran the tape, it was obvious it (the clock) was jumping,” Heberling said.
The clock operators — there are two, one for the game clock and the other for the play clock — are locally based but hired by the league. The Steelers did not identify them, and they are not listed with the other officials on the league’s statistical report.
“It’s a very unusual thing,” Heberling said.
The mistake caused the final quarter to last 15 minutes, 52 seconds, extra time that proved invaluable to New England after the Steelers tied it at 20 on Roethlisberger’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Hines Ward with 1:21 remaining.
After New England got the ball at its 38, Tom Brady needed only 31 seconds to complete passes of 17, 14 and 6 yards to set up Vinatieri’s third field goal of the game. Forty-five seconds ran off between the time Brady found David Givens for 6 yards to the Steelers 25 and Vinatieri kicked the decisive field goal.
Steelers president Dan Rooney was unaware of the mistake until being alerted Monday by reporters.
“There’s nothing to say. The game’s over,” Rooney said. “It’s not going to change the score.”

Belichick orders Steelers trainer away from injured player
PITTSBURGH (AP) — New England coach Bill Belichick ordered Pittsburgh Steelers trainer John Norwig off the field when Norwig asked if medical help was needed for injured Patriots tackle Matt Light during Sunday’s game.
As Light lay on the Heinz Field turf with an apparently serious right leg injury during the second quarter of New England’s 23-20 victory, Norwig came onto the field to offer help.
That prompted Belichick, who cautiously guards all injury information, to emphatically order the trainer off the field. Light later left the stadium with a cast on his leg.
NFL trainers normally treat only their own players but will offer their assistance during a serious injury, especially when it involves a visiting team player. Most teams have larger medical staffs for home games than for road games.
Belichick also may have been upset because Steelers coach Bill Cowher went onto the field to offer condolences to Patriots safety Rodney Harrison after he badly injured a knee earlier in the game. Harrison is expected to miss the rest of the season with a torn left knee ligament.

*finds it funny that the steelers fans find an excuse to why they lost* - yeah they had 52 extra seconds - but its the steelers' fault they lost - one thing you never ever do is give tom brady the ball in the 4th quarter and tell him "if u dont score, we lose" he's like god then. steelers made too many mistakes, just couldnt stop new england - it's really that simple..
*finds it funny that fans of shitty teams are always quick to jump on the bandwagon of whatever team plays against the Steelers*
Pittsburgh (Randel El) made too many mistakes throughout the game, but "could not stop New England?" C'mon, the pansies were lucky to escape with a victory ... they weren't exactly setting the place on fire with their numerous turnovers and a lethargic offense for most of the game... I'd say it was a pretty even matchup, probably the best two AFC teams both playing like shit. It was really a matter of who scored last (no matter who got the extra 52 seconds to work with).
It'll be a different story in the playoffs. If the Steelers play like they did Sunday, the score will be 76-3 New England.
Of course, both need to look out for those sleeper Raiders ... LOL

I'm hoping this loss works to the Steelers' advantage in the long run; they can diagnose what went wrong and work out the bugs, and perhaps be better prepared for the possible post-season rematch. At least Cowher and co. know they have some work ahead of them, and room to improve. Better to have this loss now, so they have time to learn from it.
And Rodney Harrison is gone for the rest of the season; a big blow to the Pats' defense. If they can't fill that gap, it likely improves the Black and Gold's chances of making it to the big dance in Detroit.

Amazingly Enough - if they were in a tougher division - i dont think they would this year - granted they are good, im just not convinced that they're THAT good. The Steelers threw that game away, it wasnt a time issue, it was at the end of the day the Pats didnt make as many mistakes and cashed in on the steelers mistakesRobTheDrummer wrote:What would be really funny is if the Pats didn't make the playoffs at all....

I think anytime someone puts up nearly 450 yards of total offense on a team that is justification for saying that the defending team could not stop them.BadDazeRob wrote:*finds it funny that fans of shitty teams are always quick to jump on the bandwagon of whatever team plays against the Steelers*

I don't think New England is as strong a team this year. It may even be debatable if they do actually make the playoffs (although I doubt it). The Steelers played like shit...'nuff said.
