Minidisc recorders

Post by HurricaneBob »

Im thinking of getting this one to start capturing some live shows. Anyone ever used this particular model? http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSH ... iMDWalkman

I know Rusty has recorded us before but i never heard it.

I just want to get a clear sound for later listening.

My brother (aMindBesideItself) has an much older model Sony MD player that he tried to record several shows with. If you wanna contact him, he may be able to give you some idea of the quality. Of course, with that being the latest model, the quality will probably be much better.

Two things.

1. Try to find something with phantom power for good condenser mics.

2. Consider a CD recorder instead. The media is easier and cheaper to buy. Also, Minidisc compression is different from CD compression. You may as well record with the same media format that you will use on the final product.

I have one it it does record great, I've only done direct out applications with all instruments miked through the board so I'm not sure how it will record from a mike plugged directly into it.
Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.
