Estebon Guitars

Post by DMFJ03 »

We've all seen the infomercials.

The first time I seen this, I joked and pointed and had my laugh. Then, my mother called me in to ask me about when he was on QVC and right then I told her they were junk. However, yesterday...I found out just how bad they are!

A person that I know has purchased one for her guy because he wants to play, likes to play, but can't play a note to save his life. She saw the commercial, and thought this would be great. It arrived yesterday, and she brought it to me to look it over and tune it up.

Complete garbage.

Compared to that, Austin's are Taylors, as far as I am concerned.

Has anyone else ever laid there hands on one?

I remember when he was selling his electric guitars. They looked like a bastardized cross between a Les Paul and a Strat, real ugly looking things. He was saying how great they sound, but they sounded like cheap crap. But I guess that doesn't matter; they're marketed to people that don't know shit about musical instruments.

A theory instructor of mine recieved one of Esteban's dreadnoughts from his parents. He said that the neck was so out of whack that he had to send it back to the manufactor.

Esteban can sure do the flemenco thing alright, but for someone who studied with Andres Segovia, he's a really limited player. It's like he totally becomes lost when he demonstrates some simple pentatonic stuff.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

One of my friends bought one and you are right Jae, It's a total piece of shit ! The neck on it was messed up and you couldn't tune it right either.
I guess ya get what ya pay for huh?

I think that if you're going to buy someone a guitar who really wants to learn it, you should just opt for a name you can trust and depend on. You should also play it and if ya can't play yet at least have someone with ya who has some knowledge about guitars. There are lots of affordable brand name guitars out there that are also pretty dependable. I also would be a little leary on ordering a guitar through the mail. Go see a local dealer where you can ask questions and get some insight on what might be best for your budget and abilities. Most of these places service what they sell and might even set it up for free when you make your purchase.

One of the coolest sounding cheaper acoustic guitars I've heard and played was a Oscar Shmidt a friend bought a pawn shop in S.C.
It had a good clean sound, great volume, and stayed in tune really well even when ya gave it a good thrashing. I don't know alot about them though, but from what heard I liked it alot.

The reason they sound so good on his infomercials is because he is using a custom built one .. Not the same guitar he is selling. I saw on qvc one time that said his personal guitar cost 3,000.00. The one he is selling is a replica of it .. Looks more like a sears model to me .. Maybe an old Kay ..

LOL, when I seen this I laughed my ass off. My friend as well had bought one because he seen it advertised on T.V. well all I have to say is it is the biggest piece of damn junk I have ever seen. Actually I think it maybe the worst built guitar I have ever even tried to play myself. I woulden't give him $5.00 for that piece of S--T. Jason/CYPHIN

You guys know, of course, that his name is just Spanish for"Steve."
Just so you know, he's not Latino... probably a dorky farm-boy like me.-------------->Juan Estebanes, El Gallo Enormo

You could put it threw a Line 6 PODxt live pedal board and Peavey Triple XXX, or Mesa Boogie Rectofier, half stack and make it sound like a million bucks. Then any guitar threw one of them would sound that good ..

The funniest thing about that infomercial is when he plugs it into the "Powerful guitar amplifier" and says "You can hit the overdrive and play things like Metallica" I almost shit myself laughing, and i have an exceptionally strong sphincter. That was one of the funniest infomercials ive ever seen. When he hit that overdrive, it sounded like complete garbage...an acoustic guitar with distortion sounds like shit, so a piece of shit acoustic with a piece of shit amp with shitty overdrive sounds like Shizzzznit.
