God, this post really does prove that I like to argue.

bassist_25, maybe it's not that you like to argue, it's living in Houtzdale...that "state of mind" thing? Unless you actually LIKE it, I can totally relate and it seems we tend to have fairly good senses of humor, as we NEED to LOL regularly! Personally, I think all of Clearfield County is cursed for me as when I'm over that County line and in Cambria or Blair, I feel so GOOD inside! Is it mere coincidence? I think not!




I'm glad to see others also like The Black Crowes, again, one of my all time fav bands...their first 2 CDs, "Shake Your Moneymaker" and definitely "Southern Harmony and the Musical Companion" - they both are also "must haves". "She Talks to Angels"...mmmMMMM! LOVE that song...and I know it's really about Heroin addiction, but I've never thought of the "Angels" lyrics that way. There's all kinds of pain - my dad had said more than once, "the pain lets you know you're alive" (Some of us are REALLY living, huh?) and there are a LOT more lyrics in it than, "the pain's gonna make everything all right". To me, The Crowes have a sound, a feeling all their own.

and oh yessss, yes, yes - "Seeing Things"...WHAT a song...ooooh, baby!!!



Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers gets a vote from me too, from "Damn the Torpedoes" and "Hard Promises" on, THEY have "wrecked me"! I'd have loved to have seen Petty and The Crowes, but the show was during the week...did anyone see them, how was it???

There are many more bands influenced by KISS, Skynrd and CCR and Springsteen than they were by Pearl Jam or Journey or the Dave Mathews band (Hell I'd like to see more people influenced by DMB) but who's higher on the list?

If you want to talk about influencing other bands. Then, Bon Jovi should be at the top. They influenced every hair band that came after. After all, they were the "First" hair band.

Also, Richie Smabora is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard .. He is deff on my list of top ten .. If you ever heard his stuff off shrapnel then you would agree. That guy can play !!

I do agree that Sambora is an excellent Guitar player...without him, Bon Jovi would stink, but did they REALLY infuence ALL the "Hair
Bands"? I'm no expert and I have no idea who was first, but Quiet Riot, Poison, Motley Crue, Skid Row, and I'm sure I'm leaving some heavy "hair" hitters out...those are the kind of bands I think of when I think of "Hair Bands".
...and come to think of it, if you're just talking "big, big hair", how about Van Halen for the first successful "Hair Band"? No, they haven't "influenced" many, 'cause few, if any, can copy Eddie!

According a documentary about Bon Jovi I seen on VHI, I think it was Behind the music. Bon Jovi was the first hair band with Little Run Away. After they came out you seen all these other hair bands pop up .. Like poison, quiet riot, and such ..

Motley Crue when they first came out in the early 80's weren't hair, they wre glam, just like poison was at first .. They eventually fell into the hair category though ..

I thought the same thing, as did many others, but the survey was only about bands from the USA. At first I was pissed off because Zep, Rush, and the Who weren't there, but then I was set straight.

It's easy to jump the gun on that list. Actually, the thing that pissed me off about thew whole thing, (and my early posts show it), is that there are 23 bands in their "top 20" list. Dumbasses.
