Maiden Bashed by Sharon at Ozzfest
Maiden Bashed by Sharon at Ozzfest
Did anyone hear of this shit?
Apparently Sharon tried to embarass Maiden at their last Ozzfest show by getting people to throw eggs at the band and chant Ozzy or some shit.
There is a big stink over this all over the internet.
I for one think Sharon sucks and so does Ozzy no disrespect to the madman's previous accomplishments but c'mon Sharon let him retire. He is just to old and can't even stay on key anymore let alone entertain.
Sharon is just pissed cause Maiden stole this year's Ozzfest away from Sabbath. Every review I read says Maiden kicked total ass and Sabbath was just a shadow of their former selves. My friend even met Tony Iommi at a meet and greet for his new solo album and told Tony to get Dio back cause Ozzy can't hang anymore.
Hell yeah!!!!!! Sabbath with Dio one time would be much better than the last 4 or 5 times I saw Ozzy and Sabbath together.

Below are two items regarding the apparent Sharon-Maiden feud and Ozzy's future in Ozzfest; both were in my radio prep music news today.
"IRON MAIDEN AND SHARON OSBOURNE CLASH AT MAIDEN'S FINAL OZZFEST
Iron Maiden was pelted with eggs, interrupted by chants for Ozzy Osbourne, and inexplicably had its power cut several times during its final OzzFest performance in Devore, California on Saturday night (August 20th), according to Blabbermouth.net. In addition, Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, came onstage following Maiden's set to call Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson a 'p***k,' while offering thanks to the rest of Maiden and its crew.
Blabbermouth received numerous eyewitness reports about Saturday night's fracas. Many of the witnesses believed that the egg-throwing, power loss and other events were orchestrated by Sharon Osbourne amid rumors of bad blood between Dickinson and the OzzFest camp. One witness called the event "the most unprofessional thing I have ever seen in my 20 years of going to rock shows."
- Trouble began when the show's MC began leading a chant of "Ozzy, Ozzy..." during Maiden's intro tape. As soon as the band launched into its opening number, it was pelted with eggs from one area of the venue floor. Many witnesses indicated their belief that the egg-throwers were planted, saying that they could have not gotten that many eggs past concert security.
- During "The Trooper," in which Dickinson waves a British flag, an unidentified man came onstage waving an American flag, with the slogan "Don't F*** With Ozzy" painted on his back.
- Maiden also lost its power at least three times, but managed to finish its one-hour show. At the end of the set, as Maiden was taking its bows, the "Ozzy, Ozzy..." chant started again over the PA system.
- Once Maiden exited, Sharon Osbourne came on and addressed the crowd, saying that she loved Maiden, but that Dickinson was a 'p***k' and had disrespected OzzFest since the beginning of the tour. Osbourne reportedly left the stage to a chorus of boos.
- OzzFest continues tomorrow (Tuesday, August 23rd) in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Velvet Revolver replacing Maiden on the tour's last seven shows."
"OZZY OSBOURNE SAYS HE NEEDS A VACATION
It's not his health that's causing Ozzy Osbourne to step away from his OzzFest tour next year -- he just needs a break. Osbourne explained his reasons by saying, "After 10 years, I've decided that this year will be my last as the headlining act on Ozzfest. The Ozzfest is well-established now and I feel it's time for me to hand the reigns off to someone else. However, I will be performing at a few select Ozzfest shows next year. Despite the rumors, I don't have permanent throat problems. The truth is that after 11 straight summers on the road, I would just love to finally take a summer holiday with my wife. You haven't heard the last from me."
There had been some speculation that the ongoing and unexplained health issues that caused Osbourne to miss a few OzzFest dates this summer might have played into his decision. Also, he's still not fully recovered from his near-fatal ATV accident at his British estate in December 2003.
The next OzzFest show is tomorrow (Tuesday, August 23rd) at Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It will be the first show for Velvet Revolver, who've stepped into the spot held by Iron Maiden earlier on the tour. Due to previous commitments, Maiden's last OzzFest performance was Saturday (August 20th) at the Hyundai Pavilion Of Glen Helen in Devore, California."
Regarding the incident on Saturday night, this was posted on Iron Maiden's website:
"IRON MAIDEN wish to thank all the 45,000 Metal fans at Ozzfest in San Bernardino on Saturday night for sticking with us and giving us such a great response at the end of a difficult set. It was obvious to all there that we had a 'series of unfortunate events' throughout! These made it difficult for us to keep our momentum but your incredible support certainly helped us get through it. We guess it all adds up to a pretty memorable gig though!!!
This is, however, a Metal Festival. It is supposed to be fun for all. You fans pay very good money to be there and deserve to get a full and unhindered performance from all the bands. This was not the case last night.
So with this rather bizarre end to a good tour we are returning to the UK today for the Leeds and Reading Festivals and once again thanks to all of you who came out to see us these last few weeks.

Backstage notes on what happened...
The manager of a well-known heavy metal band (*NOT* IRON MAIDEN) who attended this past weekend's Ozzfest show at the Hyundai Pavillion in Devore, California has submitted the following first-hand account of the evening that will surely go down as one of the most shameful moments in recent rock history (NOTE: at his request, the author's identity is being protected by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):
"Saturday night's Ozzfest at the Hyundai Pavillion near Los Angeles was a debacle on so many levels, I am still in shock as I write this. As a fan of many of the bands [Saturday] night, one can only hope this was an isolated incident, but sadly, it most likely wasn't. As many of you have heard already, co-headliners and metal legends IRON MAIDEN were pelted with eggs, bottle caps, beer cups, spit on, had people from the Ozzfest camp talking over the PA during their set, had 'Eddie' delayed from his onstage entrance, had members of the [BLACK LABEL SOCIETY] entourage rush the stage with American flags, and had the PA intentionally turned off over six times, all by the OSBOURNE CAMP.
"While it's still unclear as to the exact reasons why the terrorizing started (rumors abounded as to why, with everything from Bruce calling out Ozzy in the U.K. rock magazine Kerrang! on the widely known fact that Ozzy uses a teleprompter, to various vague references said on stage about a 'reality show' at an Ozzfest stop in Detroit), one thing was very clear: The whole thing stunk, and left me, and nearly all of the 40,000+ heavy metal fans in attendance angered and disappointed. Not that behind the scenes bickering or magazine trash-talking is anything new to rock fans, but the shocking lack of professionalism at one of the largest stops in North America in front of 40,000+ spectators, at the hand of the Osbournes was nothing short of disgusting.
"It all began early in the afternoon, when many side stage bands were openly approached in clear view of everyone backstage by Sharon and Kelly Osbourne to 'join them in throwing eggs at IRON MAIDEN this evening.' All the bands were encouraged to rally the other side-stage bands to do so. Members and/or friends of the hardcore band BURY YOUR DEAD were seen actively trying to encourage other side-stage bands to 'join in the fun.' Thankfully, many side stage bands angrily declined.
"Later that evening, as IRON MAIDEN came on stage, their intro was interrupted by [BLACK LABEL SOCIETY] hanger-on and biker wannabe Big Dave, who was at the soundboard loudly chanting 'Ozzy, Ozzy' over the PA. MAIDEN opened their set and the entire band was pelted from the front row with eggs, beer, beer cups, spit, and various other objects by an Ozzfest-credentialed, bandana-wearing, Osbourne entourage. IRON MAIDEN, ever the professionals, continued through their set, and by the time they launched into their second song, 'The Trooper', Bruce changed into a civil war-era, red coat and began waving a Union Jack — British flag. Then, someone in, or associated with, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY tried to rush the stage waving and American Flag with the words 'Don't fuck with Ozzy' scrawled across his bare chest. He was tackled and beaten by MAIDEN crew and promptly thrown off stage.
"As 'The Trooper' ended, frontman Bruce Dickinson, with characteristic spunk, launched into a scathing attack on the people terrorizing his band, calling them 'a sorry excuse for an Ozzy Osbourne fan,' and wondering aloud how, 'three dozen eggs could get snuck into the front row of Ozzfest by people with Ozzfest laminates?' Though he never named names, all in attendance could understand who he was referring to. Nicko McBrain ran up to the front asking Bruce to hold on while he cleaned egg off his drums. He then stated the the next song wouldn't be heard on 'Your local cocksucking corporate radio station, wouldn't be seen on MTV anymore, and sure as hell wouldn't be played on a fucking reality TV show,' met by a huge roar from the crowd.
"During the song 'Hallowed Be Thy Name', Bruce, after only the first two lines, stopped singing and ran to the front row, firing back at his terrorizers, saying 'That asswipe right there, with the curly hair, the fucking glasses, and Ozzfest laminate throw his fucking ass out of here right now. It's gonna take more than eggs to stop IRON MAIDEN, and if it wasn't for a lawsuit, I'd rip your fucking head off right now, you piece of shit!!!!' He had the various attackers ejected and continued with a blistering version of the song until right before the big sing long at the end, the PA was INTENTIONALLY cut off. When it came back, Bruce launched into another scathing attack saying that they were supposed to play a shorter set than normal today, and only play 55 minutes, but IRON MAIDEN can't drive 55, or play 55, and were going to play our whole fucking set tonight.
"The band endured six more 'PA cuts,' including having the power to their amps turned off at one point. When the PA would come back on, they would simply launch into the next IRON MAIDEN classic, never missing a beat. Frankly, with every PA cut, the band just got meaner and meaner, playing each new song with an anger and a fire that was at times, simply astonishing to watch. Bruce began the introduction to IRON MAIDEN with a speech about 'Your constitution has something about 'We The People.' Well let me tell you, the only reason we are up here tolerating this bullshit, is because of you people. You have been amazing Glen Helen, and there are A LOT of IRON MAIDEN fans here tonight,' eliciting a huge roar from the crowd. He continued, 'It's gonna take more than eggs to stop IRON MAIDEN, NOTHING is going to come between us and our fans, and it will be death before dishonor, this is 'Iron fucking Maiden',' which was greeted by a thunderous applause. During 'Iron Maiden', longtime MAIDEN mascot Eddie was purposely delayed from making his entrance, making a brief appearance at the end, and one could only wonder as to how. As the band closed there set with a furious version of 'Sanctuary', the PA was again cut only to have Big Dave repeatedly chant 'Ozzy' over the PA, while the band tried to say goodbye to their fans. The now-furious crowd angrily drowned him out with chants of 'MAIDEN, MAIDEN.'
"Then, not 10 seconds after MAIDEN left the stage, Sharon Osbourne walked on stage and predictably, tried to give MAIDEN some fake, half-hearted praise about how they'd like to 'thank IRON MAIDEN,' and what a wonderful band IRON MAIDEN are, and how their crew were 'fantastic,' then sneering, 'But Bruce Dickinson is a prick.' The entire crowd, now fed up with the entire affair, began loudly booing her, pelting her with beer cups, and yelling 'bitch.' She tried to carry on, adding that 'Bruce had disrespected Ozzfest,' only to be drowned out by an ocean of boos, and soaked with beer. She slammed the microphone down and stormed off stage. Many in the crowd, fed up with what they had just witnessed, especially considering that many had come solely for MAIDEN, and paid upwards of $150 to do so, left in droves. SABBATH played to maybe half the audience that was there prior, and seemed stagnate compared to the band preceding them. As a huge fan of SABBATH, I honestly couldn't stand to watch them.
"I've seen IRON MAIDEN probably 10 times in my life, and frankly this was the very best IRON MAIDEN show I've had the pleasure of witnessing. You DON'T want to fuck with IRON MAIDEN. The more the Osbournes tried to fuck with them, the better they got! IRON MAIDEN was on fucking overdrive! Considering the amount of terrorizing and intimidation that IRON MAIDEN had to deal with at the hands of the Osbournes and the other side stage and main stage bands participating, they were the consummate professionals. They had the crowd in the palms of their hands, and IRON MAIDEN and Bruce Dickinson proved beyond a shadow of a doubt why they are the greatest metal band on earth right now, and quite possibly, the classiest, too.
"The Osbournes are drunk with power. Shame on them, and shame on ANY of the bands that participated in the terrorizing and intimidation. It was disgusting display, that NO BAND should have had to endure, but especially a legend like IRON MAIDEN. That fact that it happened in front of 40,000+ people, at a Clear Channel-sponsored event, while Hyundai Pavilion Security turned a blind eye and let the Osbourne camp pelt one of the main headlining bands with eggs, beer, and spit, was simply inexcusable.
"I will proudly be attending next year's MAIDEN fest, and as much as I hate to say it, I can't bring myself to spend another dime on the Osbournes.
"Ozzfest, hang your head in shame."

From Bury Your Dead's site...
August 22: Despite rumors flying, Bury Your Dead was not involved with the unfortunate events that took place during Iron Maiden's set at Ozzfest this past Saturday at the Glen Helen Hyundai Pavillion. Guitarist Rich Casey said "we have the utmost respect for Iron Maiden and Ozzfest and Bury Your Dead did not partake in Saturday's ill-fated events".

So this was Maiden's last show on Ozzfest? Perhaps some of the ppl here who've been involved in the scene back in the 80's could clarify something for me...
Wasn't chidlish stunts like this common practice back then? (usually something pulled by the headliner on the opening act) beer baths, pies, balloons filled with whipped cream random streeking... etc etc?
I'm not saying that is what it was here though cuz it seems this sounds more like retaliation over comments Bruce made at an earlier time. Sharon pretty much runs Ozzfest. So techniqually that makes her the boss. Not exactly smart to publicly diss the bosses family when she's the one signing your paycheck.

The person below me enjoys a good spanking.
Iron Maiden doesn't need Sharon Ozbourne for anything. She begged them to join Ozzfest and got pissed because they blew every band away every night they played. They are better now than they ever have been and as far as Bruce's comments toward the Ozbournes I agree with him on everything he said. Ozzy is washed up and Sharon is a bitch. The state of the American concert scene is totally screwed. If you got the money you got front row. I know at least 20 people that are NOT Maiden fans that had pit tickets at the Pittsburgh show. I know at least 2000 hardcore Maiden fans were in the lawn simply because they don't have an extra $150 to blow on any ticket. The true fans are getting screwed into the back seats simply because they have better things to spend their money on than concert tickets i.e. family mortgage and car payments and of course the essentials like BEER and FOOD.
Even more pathetic, was the press release Sharon made a day or two later, at one point stating how it was disrespectful of Bruce to be waving a British flag at the show, when there are American troops fighting in Iraq.
There is nothing at all disrespectful in Bruce's attire and waving of the Union Jack during the performance of "The Trooper". The song is about the charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War (something like that, anyway), and Bruce is just paying tribute to that.
Using the Iraq war in an effort to garner support for her cause, is so low. And calling Bruce "a small man" (in her press release), shows that she clearly doesn't know who she's dealing with. Sure, Bruce rants and raves at shows, but he usually has good reason, and does it in an intelligent way. Bruce will be Bruce.
This incident makes me ashamed to be an Ozzy fan. But you have to remember, it's more Sharon than it is him. It's been said that Kelly was also one of the people in the crowd throwing eggs. I'd like to hear what Bill Ward has to say about the whole fiasco, he's usually very objective.

hey
I will defend Ozzy's latest performances considering the fact that he's just getting old, tired, and seemingly more unhealthy as time goes on. He's been doing this for a really long time now and has outlasted a lot of his peers. Give the guy a break, and lets not forget, he is a legend.
However; it makes me sick that Sharon orchestrated this whole assault against Maiden. I used to have a lot of respect for her business intellect and just for the fact that she basically saved Ozzy from falling off the earth completely. This however is childish, unprofessional and just down right being a complete bitch. I can totally see how Kelly would be involved in this as she is a talentless little snob. Ozzy, I doubt he even knew what was going on.
I think Ozzfest is going to the crapper and this is a good indication. I haven't been to one for years just for the mere fact that I dont think it's worth the money.
Anyway, Sharon needs to just let Ozzy off the road for a year or so, Ozzy needs to take better care of himself and put out another killer album, Jack needs to get BACK on oxycontin just for the hell of it and Kelly needs to fall off the face of the earth completely. Oh yeah, and just end Ozz-fest once and for all!

yeah, thats completely crazy for the osbounres to act so unprofessional. bruce shouldnt have been talking shit about ozzy and americans while on the tour...but that doesnt give dumbass sharon or anyone the right to sabotage their set. shes just embarrassed that ozzy's old ass cant do it anymore and all these old bands are still kicking ass. no one wants to see ozzy in a wheelchair singing "War Pigs".
When ozzy dies, sharon may in fact place a mic and a teleprompter in his tomb and have people pay to hear his ghost sing.
then MTV will "investigate" his tomb and have 372 shows about that.
the mad mumbler wont be gone until the rest of his family milk it for eveything. i have a ton of respect for ozzy, but i cant believe he lets his family rule so much of everything. i wouldnt be surprised if sharon hired engineers and doctors to keep ozzy alive forever like some kind of Darth Vader. i swear to God, if James Earl Jones starts singing for Sabbath, ill be pissed.
there should be a rule: once you snort a line of ants...its time for a massive career change.

Apparently Sharon forgot that the Brits are also fighting in Iraq.Staceman wrote:Even more pathetic, was the press release Sharon made a day or two later, at one point stating how it was disrespectful of Bruce to be waving a British flag at the show, when there are American troops fighting in Iraq.

Bruce wasn't cutting on Americans per se`.
He simply stated that the American audience isn't as wild and crazy as audiences around the world. Mainly because most of the people in the front row can afford to have the good seats but most are not true Maiden Fans. He knows that not everyone is a Maiden Fan but the true METAL fans aren't even up front. Most are just people who buy pit tickets because they can not because they truly want to be up front. He just thinks that everyone should be given a fair chance at the good seats and he knows that most true metal fans cannot afford a front row seat or just don't think it's worth paying $150-$300 for a good seat. I for one could afford it but refuse to pay that much for a pit ticket. It's the American ticketmaster and all those fees and everybody has their hand in the cookie jar. Sharon is just jealous because Maiden smoked everyone at Ozzfest including Sabbath. Don't get me wrong I have almost all of the Black Sabbath catalogue and Most of Ozzy's stuff too. But I just think that Bitch needs a good slap in the face. No matter what she does Maiden will carry on and get better. They don't need Sharon or Ozzfest but they are smart and saw what it did for Priest last year. Sharon will run the Ozzy empire into the ground with her childish attitude and bullshit actions.

I was at OzzFest this and only because my girlfriend had won free pit tickets. This will probably be the last OzzFest I attend as long as Sharon has her fingers in the pot. This year's OzzFest, in my opinion, was the worst to date. There was no diversity, and you get a clear cut imagine of what Sharon cares about when you see Wicked Wisdom play on the second stage...money, money, money...quality is not an issue. If you can pay, then you can play. OzzFest has gone far beyond corporate and has hit the greed turnpike. In my opinion Maiden stole the show. I've never seen Maiden and growing up I wasn't really a fan. That all changed at the Pittsburgh OzzFest. I was so impressed with Maiden and their set. Upcoming bands need to take note of what they did...they put on a show and sand songs at the same time. Today you either get a stage show with fancy lights and can't understand a band or you get a band that doesn't give a shit, stands around, and can't wait to get off the stage. Sharon should be pissed at Maiden (maybe) because Blacksabbath's set/performance sucked sooooo bad. They did nothing. Toni walked around with his dress coat with shouldpads (circa 1988), winking and nodding his head. Ozzy could barely walk, move his arms, etc. I could have gotten more entertainment from a Sabbath cd in my stereo. At the price for a ticket, the fan expects their money's worth...and thank god for Mudvayne, Bury Your Dead, Soilwork, In Flames and Maiden cause all of those band enjoyed being there and gave the crowd their money's worth. Just my opinion...

The cream usually rises to the top. Maiden's still putting out kick-ass albums, while Ozzy's still riding his legacy from 15 years ago. I'm not trying to disrespect Ozzy. I'm a big fan and truly believe that he is a great human being. His wife's running his reputation into the ground in name of the all-mighty dollar. I believe that musicians should never be ashamed about making a profit off their work, and I'm one of the last people who will bawl around about "selling out", but there has to be a balance between art and business. Sharon's sacrificing the art side in name of the business side. It's bullshit that bands have to pay money to play on the second stage. Why don't all of us start charging money from our opening bands?
If Sharon truly wanted Ozzy to get the respect that he deserves, she would get those quacks to take him off that medication so he could become lucid again; give an honest apology to Bob Daisley for fucking him over; tell Zakk to quit acting like a pretentious, unprofessional, drunk hillbilly; and get them together so they could write another bad ass album instead of doing bullshit reality shows.

No doubt Sharon is a piece of shit that cares only about money and her (and her worthless kids) fame. She's helped completely ruin Ozzy, Ozzfest, and the like.
I've never liked Black Sabbath as much as Maiden. Ozzy's solo stuff I love on a par with Iron Maiden but Sabbath could never hold a candle to them in my opinion.
Which makes me wonder another point:
Honestly I bet that the "search" for Ozzy's guitarist turns into another f'ing reality show. Just another way to suck up more money.

hey
In response to Jaybird, no disrespect here, but you cant expect Sabbath to be running around on stage like a bunch of 20 year olds because they're not. These guys are in there 50's and have been touring and recording since these (nu-metal) bands were shitting their diapers. Why should they quit as long as they still love what they do and sound good doing it? Everyone has bad nights once in awhile no matter how young or old. Fact is Ozzy needs a break period. I think he has a lot of great music left in him, but he needs to put his foot down and just take a break for awhile first.
You have to understand their influence. Sabbath started out before a lot of us here were even born. They started out at the peak of the hippie movement. When everyone else was dressed in tie-dye and sang about peace, love and all that crap Sabbath came out in black, played metal and kicked ass. They literally scared the shit out of people, and THEY STARTED metal, period.
I know this is off topic, I just get tired of people bashing Ozzy and Sabbath
and trying to compare them to guys half their age, with half the longevity, and not even close to the amount of talent or influence that Sabbath has.
If Dope, or taproot or any of these other bands are touring and recording and changing the face of music 30 years from now, then we'll have a legitimate argument. I seriously doubt that will ever happen.
Again no disrespect here, just my opinion, and yes Sharon is a bitch!

Wow, I never even thought of that, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if you're correct.Punkinhead wrote: Honestly I bet that the "search" for Ozzy's guitarist turns into another f'ing reality show.
Nothing's too far-fetched from the Ozzy camp. We're talking about the same people who re-released the first two Ozzy albums with the bass and drums tracks done by different musicians just so they could further put the screws to people. I would never give those fuckers my money for those re-releases. I want to hear Bob Daisley and Lee Kersake play on those albums, not someone else. Hell, Bob wrote the fucking lyrics. This shit pisses me off just typing it out.

Re: hey
Good post. It's important to not forget that Sabbath started metal. Although after the respect is given I have to say that, viewing this as a guitarist who loves lines at 1,000,000 miles per hour, I don't like them as much as Ozzy's solo stuff. It's an unpopular opinion on this board but, damn, Tony Iommi vs. Randy Rhoads? vs. Zakk Wylde? No contest to me really but, like I said that's my opinion (also my reasoning for liking Maiden more).jim bagrosky wrote:In response to Jaybird, no disrespect here, but you cant expect Sabbath to be running around on stage like a bunch of 20 year olds because they're not. I agree...If Ozzy would take a break and get off the pills he's on, he could have more good music left in him. But, I see his wife pushing him to the limits and killing him. She cares about money and fame more so than him I would be willing to bet.
If youth knew; if age could.
The story has made it to the major news outlets now. And it just figures that they got it wrong, most of them stating that it was Sabbath fans that were throwing the eggs, failing to mention that it was members of the Ozzfest crew doing the deed.
However, at least most of them are also quoting comments made by Maiden's tour manager regarding the whole incident. And they're also acknowledging the online outpouring of support for Iron Maiden on the issue, which is the main thing that grabbed the attention of the various news services. It's looking like the biggest outpouring of support for a band ever; goes to show you how much respect Iron Maiden has throughout the music community, from all sides.
Even better yet, I think the whole ordeal is going to be gaining a lot of new fans for Iron Maiden. I've seen numerous postings on various message boards from younger people not very familiar with Maiden, asking which album would be a good place to start with them.
We'll more than likely hear even more behind-the-scenes reports about everything after next week, after Ozzfest is over with, from the other bands that played on the tour, who aren't willing to speak up now in fear of retailiation from Sharon & co. while on the tour. I bet she's already threatening people about doing so.

THE BITCH ADMITTED IT!!! Check this out...
NASHVILLE (Billboard) - "In a statement released Thursday night, Ozzfest organizer Sharon Osbourne admitted a role in the incident that marred Iron Maiden's August 20 tour performance in Devore, Calif. -- specifically, that she cut off the band's sound on several occasions.
Iron Maiden also was pelted with eggs and debris from the front of the pavilion during its performance, which was its last on the festival's tour. Osbourne did not take responsibility for those actions.
She previously claimed that Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson repeatedly disrespected her husband Ozzy during the tour, and that other Iron Maiden members were ashamed of Dickinson's behavior.
In her new statement, which doubles as an open letter to Maiden manager Rod Smallwood, she said, "For 20 shows we were forced to hear Dickinson's nightly outbursts from the stage: 'When we come back to America, we'll be back with a proper sound system' or 'We won't be playing the same old songs every night (like (Black) Sabbath),' 'We don't need a teleprompter (like Ozzy)' and 'We don't need a reality show to be legit (again, like Ozzy)."'
Sharon Osbourne explained cutting Maiden's power in part by saying, "Was Dickinson so naive to think that I was going to let him get away with talking s**t about my family night after night? I don't think he realizes who he's dealing with." She signed the letter as the "real Iron Maiden."
Earlier this week, Smallwood said he had "never seen anything anywhere near as disgusting and unprofessional as what went on that night.""

Dood...
To MistressDB:
Egging another band... yeah, that could be construed as the sophomoric pranky stuff we did back in the day. Cutting power on purpose... that'd get you a severe ass-beating. I always buddied up to bouncers just for that reason, so if there was any whoopings administered, I'd be less likely to be on the receiving end.
As for band wives barking over the PA?... I don't recall that ever happening, but if it would have, I'd have laughed and laughed, slowly bringing the pitch shifter up in the FX mix, until she sounded like a chipmunk. Or a shrew.-------->JMS

its a shame that it all goes down this way, very unprofesional. I have always been a fan of both bands I would say a bigger maiden fan than sabbath but al in all I love them both, sad part of it is ozzy is burnt, and in not so great health and bruce can still hit it and sharon dont like it.I wasnt able to attend ozz fest but when I saw that this year was going to have maiden and sabbath that was the insperation for me to want to go and I couldnt because of other obligations but there are alot of people that would love to see such 2 great bands like this at a concert and shit like this ruins it
