Yeah, pair him up with Jack Nicholson for VP.

The cabinet (with qualifications in parentheses):

Agriculture: Cheech Marin (well, you know)
Commerce: Jim Varney (Beverly Hillbillies)
Defense: Martin Sheen (too many to count)
Education: Mary McDonnel (Battlestar Galactica)
Energy: LeVar Burton (Star Trek TNG)
Health and Human Services: Sally Struthers (Feed the Children)
Homeland Security: Steven Seagal (can take on al quaida all by himself)
Housing & Urban Development: Sherman Hemsley (Jeffersons)
Interior: Martha Stewart (who else knows interiors like Martha?)
Justice: Susan Dey (LA Law)
Labor: James Gandolfini (Sopranos)
State: Jane Fonda (well, you know)
Transportation: Danny DeVito (Taxi)
Treasury: Regis Philbin (Who Wants To Be A Millionaire)
Veterans Affairs: Alan Alda (M.A.S.H)

Honorable Mention:

Ambassador to the U.N.: Sean Penn

Good one, Wolf!
After the dust has settled, I've become reticent about the President (hey, that rhymes!). It's struck me that Bush doesn't really have enough power to overcome those with whom he's surrounded himself. Karl Rove, who seems to wield more power that the President, may have committed a federal crime during wartime by outing a CIA agent. We may never know, because suddenly, a Supreme Court Justice retired... not the controversial one they had plans to replace, another one. Rest assured Ken Starr will never spend 100 million looking into the Rove case. Rove's the Architect. Everybody from Dick Cheney to Sean Hannity gets their orders from his office. What's Fox News reporting on these days? Day 90 of the Natalee Holloway disappearance, followed by an expose on girls wearing flip-flops to the White House.
It strikes me that Bush is likely a good guy whose family has involved too many bad eggs in their dynasty, too many people who grab for the power he should have. Right now, I'd vote for an outsider in a tight minute.------------>JMS

This is what happens when you let the republicans fill important posts like these Here's what the cabinet should look like...

Agriculture: Tommy Chong, You put Cheech in charge of immigration, duh...
Commerce: Isn't Jim Varney dead? How bout Anthony Micheal Hall (He played Bill Gates in a TV movie once)
Defense: Are you kidding me? Ahhhnold!!!
Education: Dr. William H. Cosby Ed. cause if you;'re not careful you might learn something before we're done.
Energy: Lavar Burton, yeah okay good call there
Health and Human Services: Kathy Lee Gifford
Homeland Security: Seagal? No way, too old, Get the guy who just played Batman
HUD: Tim Allen
Interior: Martha's a good choice, she can hire the Queer eye guys as undersecretaries
Justice: Dennis Franz (NYPD Blue)
State: Gandolfini and you let Big Pussy handle Labor
Transportation: George Carlin (Mr. Conductor)
Treasury: David Hasselhof, anybody who make millions with a piece of shit like Baywatch....know what I mean?
Veteran Affairs: Sinbad (It should be someobdy who was actually in uniform, Sinbad was in the Air Force)

U.N. Ambassador: Paris Hilton, God knows she's been around the world enough times

That's how fill a mock cabinet and all of those people with the possible exception of Arnold and Paris can pronounce the word "Nuclear" properly.

Actually, I put Varney in because Buddy Ebsen was dead. Didn't know Varney was dead. Yeah, Hall is good, because he will be able to key in on future events as well.

Tommy Chong and Tim Allen were my 1st picks, but Chong is Canadian-just realized that doesn't matter, so yeah, Chong. Allen has construction experience, but Jefferson has the inner city success story and will get the urban areas movin on up! Also, the cabinet must "look like America".

You must not watch Battlestar Galactica. Mary McDonnel plays an Education Secretary who was promoted to President by being #43 on the succession list. Perfect qualifications. Cosby was a dad and a spy.

I thought of Ahnold, but he is now a legitimate politician and insider and must be excluded for having actual real-life experience. I picked Sheen because of his extensive experience playing military officers and politicians.

I thought about Gandolfini in Commerce and let Christopher handle Labor, but there's not enough money to be made in the State department.

Kathie Lee? What's her experience besides sitting next to Regis Philbin.

Did Sinbad play a part like a nurse or doctor or hospital administrator? Stand-up comedy is not a qualification for the VA.

Baywatch is not a qualification for Treasury. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is perfect training for the job.

Steven Seagal could take on all the Batman players all by himself.

Never heard of Mr. Conductor.

And they say the Parties can't get together;

I didn't know that Chong was Canadian, I thought he was from the Bay Area. OK Cheech Agriculture and Carlos Mencia, immigration.

I did see the first couple of episodes of BG but it just hasn't grabbed me, how about, Jerri Ryan as a compromise, She played 7 of 9 on "Star Trek: Voyager" and she played a teacher on "Boston Public" With a Doctorate in Education,(not honorary either he earned it) Cosby might actually be qualified, what was I thinking...

How Bout John Amos for Defense, He has expereince playing the now late Adm Fitzwallace on "The West Wing" and he meets racial quotas, While I like the charachter of Jed Bartlett as President, Sheen is too lefty even for me

For State, there's always DeNiro and like the idea of someome named Big Pussy working in the government.

Kathie Lee's qualifications? Have forgotten about her clothing line scandal? little kids in Tailand sewing Wal-mart Clothes

You got to admit that without much talent or anything other than a good profile Hasselhof rakes it in.

How about Noah Wylie for the VA, Played a Marine in "A Few Good Men" and a doc (ER) Alda's worse than Sheen

Seagal....Bruce Willis could take him

Mr. Conductor (Shining Time Station, PBS) Perfect for Transportation.

That was my thinking about Cosby, he really is qualified.

For defense, David Carradine was my 1st thought, Bruce Willis 2nd, but I remembered that Seagal had taken on whole terrorist groups by himself.

After thinking about it, Chuck Norris could kick all their asses and also took on a whole platoon of Vietnamese regulars.

I picked Sheen, Alda and Fonda because they are so far left. Balanced government and all that. DeNiro, Pacino and Brando all crossed my mind.

If you are a fan of the old BG, it takes several eps to get over the changes. It is a compelling show if you like SF. I liked the old show so much that I came up with a piano arrangement for the theme song. That's very sick.

Well you can't get much worse than what we got now, I would definatly vote for someone off the wall the only catch is that although someone may have great ideas do they have the power/knowledge to work around every other crooked fuck in the government to get the job done. Lets face it even the president can't do everything he would like. This is both a good thing and a bad thing, a good president can't get his good ideas through and a bad president can't get his bad ideas through. Problem is we're left with a mess that keeps getting worse.

I would truly love to see an off the wall candidate make it though, I think it would have been interesting to have Ross Perot in there. WTF year was that anyway ?

That was 1992, and he had my vote. In fact, if he hadn't dropped out he would have been elected. He was so far ahead of Clinton and Bush, there was no way of them catching him.

It's hard to say how he would have done though. Nobody knows what can happen until they are in a situation like the President is now.

Oh and for 2008, my vote goes to Jeb Bush and Rudolf Guilianni (SP?). I also hope the wicket &^&**&&* of the west Hillary is dead by then lol ..

Has anyone seen where Ted Nuggent is running for Governor of Michigan next term ?? now that should be interesting lol ..

Lets see as I recall,

1963-1969, LBJ, Vietnam, race riots.
1969-1974, Nixon, Vietnam, 58,000+ dead, Watergate, anti-war movement of millions, not 10 or 20 caught by CNN.
1977-1980, Carter, the "Great Malaise", not much work in central PA
1989-1993, Bush I, Gulf War, massive defense layoffs, not much work in central PA
1993-1996, Clinton 1st term, mobilized more military to more different places in history, country in a "Funk", not much work in central PA.

Indeed, Wolf. The Good Old Days weren't necessarily better than now. I do think the country's more divided than at any time since the early 70's, though, and I blame the so-called alternative media. You have Plush Limbaugh saying he's not mainstream in one breath, then trumpeting his 20 million listeners per week... I think that's more than the New York Times has readers. He also gets to pontificate for 15 hours a week, while network television news gets 2 1/2 hours. He's back away from his "Moral Compass of America" tagline since his OxyContin/Vicodin addiction and subsequent investigation for doctor shopping... don't wanna be a hypocrite. :D  :D None of those cats are outside the mainstream, and Plush has gone from being against Democrats to being against moderate Republicans. Hint, Rush: Most people are moderate in some way, dude. Your drug-induced paranoia is showing.
A lot of these guys follow the Hannity Plan on their shows. Find some wacko hippy dildo who's railing against the Iraq War, show him/her freaking out, and claim this is how ALL Dems feel. Now cue a patriotic country song and, we're out.
Again, before I get chastised for being liberal, I most certainly am NOT on most issues. I'm very conservative on gun control (except for weapons of war, which you don't need for hunting or protection), welfare, Affirmative Action, crime and punishment, English as the national language, and closing our borders... completely. No tourism, no work visa's, no study visa's, nobody. We're full, thank you. We've maxed out on your poor, your tired, and your huddled masses. Take care of your own.
Among the very few issues I'm liberal-slanted on, a woman's choice, and censorship.
At any rate, things were better back then in that times were a bit simpler. Not having a job made it suck, though. I guess you look at the past through the lense of your personal experience of it.------>JMS

Anyone who doesn't toe the corporate line is a socialist, jobs going abroad helps America, we actually won the Vietnam War (liberal lie), and the ever popular "All Democrats are communist racist babykilling treehugging mental midgets who want the destruction of America, morality, and liberty."
It gets old. I started listening years ago because I thought he was being sarcastic and funny. He wasn't. :)
If he actually said something minutely critical about the GOP, I might actually take him more seriously, as nobody has all the answers, but as it is, like all political talkshow hosts Lib and Con, he spends half his time pointing out how the other side is killing America, and the other half pointing out how he is right. Somebody needs to fill a void in talkradio... an independent moderate, neither Limbaugh-like nor Frankenish. :D -------------->JMS

No, Walken's not really running, unfortunately - what a hoot he would be! It seems the general theme throughout the decades has been: there's not much work in Central PA, no matter who the President has been.

That can only change in Harrisburg. Fortune 1000 companies won't expand in PA as long as there is a 10% corporate tax rate. They admit it themselves but do nothing (except pass semi-legal raises for themselves):

Hmmmm, I detect a pattern here....

has it ever occurred to anyone that maybe this has less to do with who's POTUS and more to do with the fact that our state and local politicians are either corrupt or stupid or some combination of the above?
