My old band, MANNDRAKE, used to do all three. Those were the days, my friend.
Now THERE is a song I hadn't thought of in years...and I think that's the title!
"Those Were The Days". Some of the lyrics..."those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance, forever and a day. We'd lead the life we choose, we'd fight and never lose, those were the days, oh yes, those were the days". I have no idea
who did it, but that would be a great tune to bring back to life!

I've played just about every Maiden song on bass at one time or another. With the exception of the two albums w/Bailey. Besides Sign of the Cross, which is in Maiden's top five list. Anyone think a Maiden tribute band would go over? Share your thoughts.

Fair enough - but that's not what the asked. Don't you have three songs you'd like to hear/see performed? It was difficult for me to choose only 3 and my third was "more Godsmack".

There's no stipulation that they have to be covers here.

That was Mary Hopkins on the Beatles' Apple label, but have to say
HELL NO
I hate that song, but could maybe imagine it in a fast hard-core screamo style where it is rendered unrecognizeable. Just my opinion...
If music be the food of love, then play on...

I respect your opinion. The song was played a bit longer on AM Radio than '68. My friends and I all lived in the "boonies", saw one another pretty much only at school and we liked it...one of the things I recall strongly about that song is the actual music, it has almost what I can only describe as a "Gypsy" flavor to it, unless I'm thinking of some other song... Thinking about it, Silver Sunday would do it most excellently, in any tempo or style they wanted...the first time I saw them and one of the songs they did was Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry", I was impressed - I've just always liked that song, too.
Generally, anything a band plays that is unexpected or out of the ordinary can get me to holler a "Hell Yeah!" I like surprises, and bands that throw the unexpected curve ball at their audiences once in a while.
Most bands' established showstopper tunes can fire me up on a given night; the Hurricanes going into "Green Grass and High Tides" usually evokes a good "Hell Yeah!" out of me. Blind Jonny Death doing "Land Of The Navajo" has achieved that result with me as well. The Grimm doing "Aenima." There are a lot of other band "showstoppers" that can get that response from me on a given night.
As far as cover songs that would bring a wild reaction from me if I heard a band attempt them, I could list many, but here's three for starters (and I've never seen a band cover any of these yet):
Yes - "Starship Trooper"
Guns'N'Roses - "Coma"
Black Sabbath - "The Thrill Of It All"
Also any bands who cover the more complex stuff well...Queensryche, Maiden, Tool, anybody who can achieve the Halford high notes on "Victim Of Changes" or "Beyond the Realms of Death."
I could go on; the above examples are the tip of the iceberg...
