Standing the test of time?

Post by Heywood »

The way I see it, there are only a handful of bands that stood the test of time or are still standing the test of time. What do you think? Why is it that individuals spend months practicing and end up lasting only a few months or if they are lucky, a year or two? Look at the Desperados, fundamentally the same for at least the last 20years and still as popular as ever. Here is my answer! Surround yourself with hardworking, good-hearted people without egos.
Have a YUMMY DAY!

You couldn't have said it better, one person in a band with an "ego" can ruin the whole group. Having an ego in this business will get you nowhere.
Every member of a band has to give 100%, if you can't then why do you actually bother to try.

Bands, to me, are like a marriage. Less than 50% of those will last 5 years and that is with 2 people. Make it a 4 way marriage and over half of them are doomed...IMO...

You could always do what Slayer does. They hate each other and use separate tour buses so they can continue to put out metal.

...and IMO, like a marriage, or any partnership that is to be a success, it takes that same team work. It's not easy, sometimes depending on what one of the person's are going through in
their lives, what is put on the shoulders of the others might be too much...but if they are serious
about it, just like a marriage, they know that no matter what, "til death do us part", they'll get through it...and maybe even some GREAT songs will come from it!

Our bass player just informed me that AC/DC's Back In Black album has made it into the Diamond status!! There is a band who has stood the test of time by keep'n most of their personal lives under the radar and stick'n to what they know and love. 8)

Angus is da man !!!!!!!
