I have never heard a band cover those songs:Tim layton wrote:When you all go out to see a band, what 3 songs would you like to here that would just trip your trigger and makes you want to yell hell ya
Song for America, Kansas
Karn Evil 9, Impression #1, ELP
2112, Rush (except when we (Forces) used to play it)
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Man there is really so many I would love to hear but, here's 3 just off the top of my head...
1. Bad Seamstress Blues/ Fall'n Apart At The Seams....Cinderella
2. Trapped Under Ice .....Metallica
3. Hot For Teacher....Van Halen
That's just real quick think'n though ! There are countless others and more than likely, better ones! I don't ever remember hear'n anyone "cover" any of those tunes at a bar or club. Sure would love too though!

A person is getting along the road to wisdom when they begin to realize that their opinion is just another opinion !
Any Rush, really. Not too many people are brave enough to try it. (::Has been working on 2112 for two weeks now::)
4 Days Dirty made me say hell yeah with their Breaking Benjamin medley.
Gin and Juice's rendition of "Sneaky Sally' - that's awesome! Also, "Light Up or Leave Me Alone" - In fact, most of Gin and Juice's set list makes me say "Hells yes!"
I could be here all day...

Although we don't even have a name yet, Spirit of Radio is on our "to do" list. Hopefully, Limelight will be too...with a little persuasion. Details will be made known as events unfold......DMFJ03 wrote:Any Rush, really. Not too many people are brave enough to try it. (::Has been working on 2112 for two weeks now::)

What a great topic! (And thanks for the props, Deathmaster!)
God, here's three off the top of my head, and my number one is one I've always wanted to see a band do.
1. "By-Tor And The Snow Dog" - Rush
2. "Straight Cold Player" - Lenny Kravitz (great frickin' groove here!)
3. "Soul With A Capital 'S'" - Tower Of Power (are you KIDDING me??)

Wow! 313, Rapid fire back in the day with Wallack used to do 2 and 3. Loved playing them tunes! With all the Maiden we used to play i think we might have done Icarus too.

I think The Hurricanes have done Sweet Leaf before.
1. Lateralus - Tool
2. Death Blooms - MudVayne
3. Roundabout - Yes
Man, those are just the Rock covers I'd like to see a band do.

That's a bad ass tune. Where it all Began is such an underrated Allman's album. Soulshine and the title track are two personal favorites.YankeeRose wrote:

You should get an endorsement from Purple Haze or Kind Bud for that.Hurricane wrote:Your right Paul, i warm up with it before every show..bassist_25 wrote:I think The Hurricanes have done Sweet Leaf before.

Thanks and Amen to those...also, "Everybody's Got A Mountain To Climb"...the whole album is good...well, I have the CD. "Soul Shine" during the concert last week is something I'll never forget.

I won a few times. We were playing Asshole, but we didn't have anything to drink. Believe me, if you're playing Asshole with me and I'm the Pres, you're going to be drunk by the end of the game.YankeeRose wrote:So, who won the card game last night?

Wow now their is a topic all by it self. Everyone love's playing drinking games. My fav was always 3 MAN. That game rules. Of course I like playing Asshole also. We should start a club and start having drinking sessions once a month. I say once a month because If I say every weekend someone will call us all a bunch of alcoholics. Jason/CYPHIN

"Hell yeah!"

"oh, so you're a wise guy"? More
like smart ass!

saw "Pong" being played at friend's son's Graduation Party a few years ago (I sent up the last HUGE firework I had at it, at roughly 2 a.m. - was that a hit!), that's about as close as I've been to one...but there WAS a particularly lascivious 18 year old trying to shoot/drop a Rolling Rock cap down my bathing suit top...does THAT count?

Back on topic, well sort of. bassist_25 said those were just the "Rock" covers...here's an "other":
"This Old Guitar" - John Denver
Great song and there are several very talented musicians/singers I think would more than do it justice...L.C. Slim, for one.

3.Home - Dream Theater
2.Dance of Eternity -DT
And the song that almost makes me cry and wet myself each time I hear it......
1.Take the Time -DT!
Aside from the DT, I couldn't agree more with Rush. I would think Queensryche would do semi-well around here. For an acoustic show, I would dump in my pants if'n someone did some Days of the New.

Now THERE is a song I hadn't thought of in years...and I think that's the title!
"Those Were The Days". Some of the lyrics..."those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance, forever and a day. We'd lead the life we choose, we'd fight and never lose, those were the days, oh yes, those were the days". I have no idea
who did it, but that would be a great tune to bring back to life!
