Rockpage Float Trip?
You're losing your mind.
The Weather channel says 60% chance of rain. At this point, unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, the are only a few of us going, so it's easy to coordinate. I'll PM those who have mentioned going with my cell#. If it's raining at 10 am or later, call me.
I have two gigs today, if you need to call me today it's cool, but you may have to leave a voice mail, I'm pretty busy. I'll get back to you, though.
Yankee, I have a tube you can use.

I'm soooo glad I checked my e-mail
before I left...thanks, songsmith
for loaning me a tube! I'll
also most likely need to do the meet up thing with you and your lovely wife - it'd be easier for me that way and we could have a
little "float caravan or convoy"
or what have you! Off to the Allman Brothers!!! Thanks again!

I must be losing my mind then! Gah.
I pm'd JMS, but just in case he doesn't get to check this, Jamie and I had some things pop up tonight and we're not sure if we're going to be able to go floating tomorrow. : (* Which I'm really disappointed about. But, life wouldn't be life without ye old spontaneous happenings throwing wrenches in plans. Sooooooo, if possible, we will join y'all in progress. If not, then we'll try and get together with you guys another time (either one on one, another group thing, the bbq if possible...something).
So sorry! Have fun those guys! And pee in the river once for me too!
JMS...you still owe me bush congrats though. Don't think you're getting out of it that easy!!!!

I'll be the one left standing behind you, looking the other way as you glance back at what you've lost.

The first Rockpage float trip is in the books, and what a trip it was! 5-foot muskies, a Hooters girl innertube flotilla, and grilled steaks offered to us from a riverside barbecue...were NOT part of the day's proceedings. But two daring Rockpagers, Songsmith and yours truly, braved the rumbles of thunder and kayaked the 3-mile stretch of the Juniata River. We caught a few fish (none big enough to keep), we got rained on and hung up on a few rocks and riffles, and we outpaddled a noisy thunderstorm hitting Raystown Lake behind us (I got hung up on the rocks while trying to outpaddle the storm, that was some drama!). Damn, that was fun! The rest of you can kick yourselves, you missed out on a good outdoors adventure! Thanks to Songsmith for the use of the kayak, hopefully I didn't scrape too much paint off the bottom from the rocks!
I'm definitely up for doing that again.

I had a great time! However, for some reason, I can barely move, I'm so stiff and sore. I don't get it, I do that float twice a week minimum, and never feel any after-effects. Must have been the rain.
Thanks to JP for finding us a baitbucket-load of hellgrammites... I usually have to seine all day long for that many, and he found them right there on the shore. Those things are deadly for bass. We also witnessed one older fella nearly destroy his jonboat and his young grandson in the same fell swoop, backing the boat down the dock. Luckily, nobody was hurt.
At one point, a giant streak of lightning nearly cut the sky from horizon to horizon, with an accompanying thunderstrike nearly as loud as SideStep's drummer. I'm fairly sure JP didn't hear me scream like a little girl, and I had the excrement washed out of my boat before he noticed.
Let me know if anyone wants to try again... I guess I picked a bad weekend, with much happening. I'd do it again.------->JMS

Yeah, I'd like to try...floating in a tube down the river beats "living in a van down by the river", any day...nah, didn't work, can't laugh...
"had a bad day.." y'all won't believe what happened with the car I purchased. Those few of you who know of my lack of anything resembling "luck",
will! I plunked down all the money I had saved in the world.
It took me 6 long months to save and I still owe more than that in "easy payments", as I signed on the dotted line. I head on out and go for gas. The car has a few "quirks" I wasn't aware of, but there I was, happy for a very BRIEF moments to not have to RENT any longer! I'm at Sheetz and hear a woman saying, "your Anti-Freeze is leaking out". Oh YES, overheating.
I waited for it to cool down a bit, as it hadn't all leaked out and drove back over to the lot in town. The Salesman felt bad about it and had apparently called the mechanic over from the garage, who ah, "snuck up on me", yeah that's it, and well, "never let 'em see you cry", is what I always say. He told me, "don't worry, I'll fix it for you". It was very kind of him to say, but didn't make me feel any better, as I'm most likely going to have to pay for it being fixed. Actually, none of this shocked me, I just thought for once, just ONCE, things MIGHT be different! Well meaning people say all the time, "things will turn around"...during moments like these, I can't help but think, "when"? My kids and I've been waiting for YEARS now, through all KINDS of things and there is my ongoing non-luck with vehicles. Within a month of buying my last car, I had to replace the gas tank/sending unit to the tune of over $500...also MANY other parts, but nothing major. Another one, a $6,000 van, didn't even last 7 months, and that was from the "Butch Cassidy" place - it had a 3 month, 4,000 mile warranty, and within a WEEK I had problems. (Beat that record hands down, this time!) I kept telling them I suspected the transmission, but my "concern" couldn't be "verified". 3 guesses WHAT went and the first 2 don't count, on Easter Sunday, hundreds of miles from home. Had another van and that one I wrecked, still don't know how, but it was a really good "wreck 'n roll"... After my initial shock passes, I realize I'll most likely be back to "me", not letting much of anything really bother, or get to me, but as of right now...this SUCKS!
However, I accept my lot in life...whatever can go wrong, DOES. The cooling fan just up and stopped working, "now isn't that special"? I'm just lucky, HA!, that I stopped for gas, otherwise the engine would be toast. Nope, telling you all about it hasn't made me feel ANY better...oh well, tomorrow is another day, to "see what crap that day brings", is what it feels like right now and more than likely will be. I had to miss a very, VERY important meeting Monday evening and major crap may very well hit the fan due to me missing it... "Does anybody really know what time it is, does anybody really care? about TIME!" Nope. I'll just imagine I'm "floating in the river,
disappearing as I go along are my worries and fears... the water is as cleansing as my many un-shed tears..." Now THAT kinda made me feel a tiny bit better...
So cool...literally passed out for a while and woke up to hear "Tupelo Honey" by Van Morrison, a most beautiful, beautiful song...sigh. The next 2 made me smile and laugh!
First, because I do need to "Take it Easy" and the second, "Dirty Laundry", because my washing machine hasn't been working properly for months and in the "other" sense, there ISN'T any! As I basically said to another woman recently, regarding my life, "I'm All Right", as long as I have all of the music I love to listen and dance to, I'll be JUST fine. I'm all alone and when it's all on your shoulders, there's nobody to talk to or even that you know you can rely on to call to give you a ride home... "everything" can tend to get to a person. (The Salesman drove me to Houtzdale.) Mondays REALLY reek for me, of late, but "better days are coming"! Yeah, RIGHT.
Thanks for "listening". Please do plan another Float Trip, hopefully "life" won't "happen" and everyone who wants to go along will be able to!
