Same show? NOT BLOODY LIKELY!
no surrender, I hope you DO go to the HP tonight, you won't be disappointed. Unless you're a total jerk! Some of us, including our children and even a "just born" 15 year old Caniac friend, like their version of "Heaven", better. It's originally by Los Lonely Boys...as the Preacher's daughter said, "they add harmony to it". Whether a new or old Country tune, Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Nuge, SRV, or 'Stones, Beatles, Marshall Tucker and The Outlaws, or Felix and the Boys' originals, among MANY others, some of us can't hear enough of the "same old songs"!!! Long may you ROCK!

Yes Hurricane, controversy IS delicious...especially involving PR! Don't forget everyone, August 05, 06 and 07, Hoedown! I'll have "FLYERS" if anyone wants one, tonight!!! However, I will NOT be placing them on cars!

 It's great to see their smiling faces! "Party on, Wayne, party on, Garth"! So, does this mean no surrender was AT the HP last night??? A bunch of other RockPagers were and it was a BLAST! One thing about the movie "Wayne's World", the mental image of Garth during "Foxy Lady" has forever turned that wonderful tune into a source of humor for me...same with when my kids and I hear "Don't Fear the Reaper" by BOC and immediately say "more cowbell", ala the deadpan of Christopher Walken and the actions of CRAAAZY Will Ferrell, oh man! Never seen the "Behind the Music, Blue Oyster Cult" sketch? Rent or buy SNL, "The Best of Christopher Walken"
and I know it's not musical, but the "Colonel Angus" sketch set in the South is a RIOT! (Say "Colonel Angus" with a Southern drawl, hee, hee, hee - it's also a riot, trust me on this!) T'anks for the memories! Sheesh, it seemed like this day would never, EVER end!

::smart ass grin:: Yeah, you boys were lucky you had so many special guests stepping up to play durring the breaks at your show on Sunday at the Post...cuz you know, I was getting bored... same damn songs played over and over...

Seriously... Glad to hear Ski back up on stage (wish you'd sing more than all the talking incorporated in your shows now...but i understand in Fl you have to get the crowd in it...still great to hear you up there...and you've come a long long long way with that beat box thingy you have!!! awesome job!!!!!!!!!) and the Pittsburgh boys...TMP? They were pretty spanktackular. All and all, a very enjoyable night at the post with the Canes and co.

Wow.
Okay, so I hate the Hurricanes, too. Sure, they're responsible for my harmonica chops (I played a little before I jammed with them, but hundreds of hours onstage with them over 14 or so years... I wasn't so good, and Felix didn't care... I got a little better). Yeah, I guess I've learned more from Felix on guitar than I did from my own Dad, but he sucks. True, I've been allowed to play in front of literally thousands of people, and all I had to do was show up, places like the Wing-Offs, Q-Fest, Arts Festival... but Felix is lame. Okay, the Canes have put me on their records, made me a Dieselfitter, wrote songs with me, hooked me up with gigs, had me on the radio with them MANY times... y'know, whatever.

Listen pinhead. I am an easy-going dude like you never saw before, however, you just pissed in the wrong Cheerios, my friend. Let me clue you in:
I have more onstage time with Bob, Jeff and Felix, than I have with many of the bands I've actually been a MEMBER of... I also go see the Canes just because I want to (if Dickie's sitting in, I'd rather listen than play, mostly). In nearly a decade and a half, I find it hard to recall a show where they didn't play something I never heard them play before. If they play a song you've heard a bunch of times, they do it at audience request. Bands must play what the audience wants, sometimes. If you get sick of Green Grass and High Tides, try this: bring your guitar and amp, and try to keep up. I dare you.
This little outpouring of accolades and respect you're seeing from other musicians?... maybe it's because the Hurricanes deserve it.
nosurrender, my ass... noclue is more apt. Go away.------>JMS

This past Sunday night at the Post was off the freakin' map! Dennis may have been doing a number on the Florida panhandle, but the REAL hurricane damage was happening at the Hitching Post! John "S**t Out of Luck-in-Skiing" on vacation from Key West and bringing his storm up North, T.M.P. from the 'Burgh, and that final set jam session hoedown with Tony Mollick, Kent Martin, Steve Todesco of Beantown bluesmen Mission Of Blues, Ron Novak and Hurricaniac Lauren...To quote retiring Steelers color commentator Myron Cope, YOY and DOUBLE-YOY!

If this was the same Hurricanes show, here's to much more redundancy in the future!

I just read this entire post and I didn't want to add my 2 cents, but I have to. I have not seen the 'Canes. In fact I just turned 21 (July 1st!), so I haven't seen many local bands at all. I have seen Felix play, which is a humbling experience for any musician and even non-musicians. All I want to say is..........

...............That dog is friggin hilarious!

All kinetic, no potential.

"redundancy"...E=mc2, that means the same thing, over and over. Repetition - if something is GREAT, why NOT have it, or hear it, over and over? No matter how "same old", if it's good, it's GOOD! ;-) PLUS, they always add a little something new to every song they do...some of us Caniacs have DISCUSSED this...there are so many songs we play or hear on the radio, we'd rather hear THEM do and as long as the CROWD wants it, give it to them! Having missed so many shows since mid-May, I've only heard 'em do the latter 2 once..."Vehicle", "Young Blood", "Green Eyed Lady"...don't know if you've heard 'em, JP, but "I vant to hear them again"...and on Sunday, how about "Tin Pan Alley", WHOO WEE! I think that was the first time I had ever heard Felix and the Boys do it, and it was so GOOD! John Solinski was a lot of fun...he has great Energy and it was nice to put such a friendly face to his RockPage name, as well. TMP, loved their Pittsburgh twangy accents on the Backyard Rocker, they reminded me of hearing my dad speak :-) and their own "Stingray" is a "must hear again"! WHEN they book an area show, "the people will come"! I know it's not a 'cane song and other than a bit of his early stuff, I'm not a big Elvis fan, although I do like the ones BJD plays, but I've always liked the song and I'd love to hear Lauren sing "Black Velvet". Can you "hear it" too? 8)

I've seen them play out a few times. Yeah, they do seem to have the same set list, but look at any show you go to.
Guranteed: Margarittaville and Brown Eyed Girl and Hotel California and Wonderful tonight. Those are your Classic Rock crowd.
Guranteed: Disturbed and Motor head and Stone Sour and Mudvayne and Slayer and Ac/Dc and Metallica for the harder crowd.
Guranteed: Madonna and Go Go's and Cindy and Guns N' Roses and Phil and Nirvanna for the 80's and 90's crowd.
How many times have you gone out to see your favorite band and sung along? That's because you know the set lists and the songs. Who cares. You know what they play that's why you paid. Shut up and drink a beer and enjoy the music!
Alterego's and peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches. The two most twisted things out there.
