It means that we (both of us) decided to quit smoking a month ago for reasons that I would rather stay quiet. However, everytime I turn around, we are buying a pack. Oh... we're going out drinking. Oh, we're hanging out with the band... Oh, we're going golfing with his old man... oh...we're going to see so and so... Or .....And we weren't quitting. So, I said, last pack. Put my foot down. 5 Days later, he's cranky...making this much harder than it has to be. Being mean to everyone. Sure..fine. But as a little added bonus, he's doing the no-alcohol thing to me... Figures if he drives me crazy about not drinking and not smoking and me being the mean nasty bitch who is the fun police...then I will give in and let him smoke again. Which means I will have to smoke too. So. That is what this means. But I tell you what, the quit thing is not easy. And I don't know why he thinks it's any easier for me than him. Because it aint. And it doesn't help that hearing that...and seeing that...and all of that make me feel any better about things.
So, thank you for putting a post up here like that. There were alot better things happening in your life this past month than just quitting things for "the fun police" but I don't see that written out here.

Well keep it up. I know that it's not easy quitting the Stix. I've done that song and dance several times in my life. End result is I've been smoke free for 5 years and feeling better about things. Dude, give your woman a break about this. It's all how you treat it. If you're making it worse by rubbing this in, it will be harder to quit them. I've learned that one through experience. And girl, make sure you don't nag him. Maybe giving up the alcohol is a good thing for you both anyways? And what was the "a lot better things happening in your life" meaning? Are you expecting? Is that why you quit smoking and drinking? Congrats!
Alterego's and peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches. The two most twisted things out there.

I quit smoking six months ago, in fact the 8th made six months since I had one. This was after about 50 attempts at quiting. It is tough. I am at the stage now where I am trying to stay away from soda and chocolate. I tell you, they are harder to quit than the cigarettes were.
Quiting is not eay, good luck to the both of you ..

Way to go! Quitting smoking is hard. There will be times when you are stressin for a smokey, but remember after the first 72 hours, it is all mental. Be sure to reward each other for small accomplishments, like survivng a band practice where others are smoking, or making through a night at the bar where everyone else at your table is lighting up. Also take notice to the things that improve in your life from quitting: More money in your pocket that can be used for other more important things (you know like predator dolls - oops I mean figures), less chance of Cancer, and better lung capacity (being able to chase after that cute nephew of yours without being winded). He is crabby now, but later on down the road he will thank you.

Here's what you do Jae...You go get yourself a crotch rocket, something fast, at least a 600. Anytime you feel an urge to smoke or whatever, you take that puppy on the highway and do 150mph...then when you are done, you will just get off the bike, say DAMN! And you will not want a cigarette because adrenaline is a good substitute for anything. Or, you could get the patch...
Crotch Rocket, ...hmmm.

I never understood the whole smoking thing. I never started so I have no idea what it's like to quit. I hear it's one of the worst thing to kick.
I did quit drinking quite a while ago though. I think I just lost the taste for it. I was never an alocoholic but I did have trouble being out and not getting fall down drunk. Ok, so maybe I was a weekend alcoholic come to think of it. lol
I pretty much drink on my birthday & new years now and that holds me over for the whole year. I can't stand the hangover anymore.
Good luck quitting anything your stuck on. It can be tough.
Now ask me to quit Mt Dew and I'd probably have to check into rehab. lol

Good luck you guys and girls with the smoke'n thing!

Hmmm, a bass boat to play new equipment on...
It's been almost a week now and I have told temptation to bugger off on more than one account.
Mmmm, ...bass boat.

I feel for you guys... apparently, the nicotine bug didn't bite me so hard. I used to smoke, but I was more of a barroom smoker, and in the car, not really regular. I don't really have an addictive personality, either... I quit drinking really easily... weed was a little tougher, but not impossible. Caffeine... way different story. Completely undoable.
Anyway, quitting smoking has zero downside. And the bass boat was a Tracker 18 footer, 90 hp motor, all the GPS/Fishfinder and trolling bells and whistles. Suh-WEET boat.------->JMS

I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood
I have heard tell that there is something they can put under yer skin that will last fer 4 years to help ya stop smoke'n!? I take it, it makes ya sick if ya smoke when you have this thing! Needles suck though , I'm just wonder'n if they could just give ya an injection that would provide a steady flow of T.H.C. fer 4 years instead of nicotine! I might consider go'n to see "Ol Doc. Baker "for that shot!

GOOD for the two of you! My parents both smoked, I "grew up in a cloud", swore I'd never and I have never smoked legal tobacco.
Asthma and Bronchitis are not fun,
although since I've been eating a lot of Honey...NO cracks
...this year, I haven't been sick once.
It's possibly a Natural Anti-Bacterial. "Beans" are not addictive, they are a wonderful pain reliever and muscle relaxer that lasts for days! I think they should be legal, for the people I've read about that utilize them, of COURSE!
When I'm out, almost everyone around me smokes and as long as ventilation is working, it's not too bad. I wish PA would do like NY and CA and ban it in all Public places, Bars and Clubs included, but everyone says nobody would go out...SURE they would, as long as there are women/men to try and pick up and there is GREAT music to hear! Soda is cheaper than booze and in almost all places, ice water is FREE! Let's see, you're not expecting, so what's the good news...engaged? If one of us guesses, what do we get??? Much
support to you, keep up the great work!

Jules told me something about eating an orange. It apprently cleans your system of toxins faster. A guy he knew swore by this method. Everytime he had an urge for a smoke, he ate an orange. ::Shurgs:: I don't know if it works or not...all I know is tomorrow it will be one week without a smoke, cold turkey, and I doing alright...I guess. I mean, I still want to smoke, but I'm not doing it.
