That reminds me of a hilarious story from the 80's. (FatVin, if you want to get your bass player howling uncontrollably, remind him of this one...) When I worked at another radio station in the 80's, I used to work Sunday nights, and we used to order pizza from Brothers in the Station Mall. I agree that their pizza kicks ass, but back in the 80's they had this one delivery guy who worked Sundays, who smelled spicier than the pizza, and not in a good way. FatVin's bass player and I nicknamed him "Stenchball," because his odor would arrive 5 minutes before the pizza did, and linger for 3 hours after he delivered it. I think the odor even became embedded in the pizza cartons. Fortunately we worked in the back of the building, and he never got beyond the front door so his odor didn't permeate back the hall. Dude was gross!Yes Vinnie I will not argue thos texas dogs are great, like Bobby I enjoy the intown shop a little more. not as clean and bright and as we all know the best food comes from the places that have just a little dirt and grime to them. If you don't believe me here's a test... Have brothers pizza anywhere and then have brithers in the station mall I GUARANTEE the station mall will be better. Best pizza in altoona Brothers station mall... By the slice though not whole pie, that for some reason makes it taste different.

If anyone is ever in Pottsville,
Schuylkill County, other than the Yuengling Brewery, the Molly Maguires, Coal and Prisons for its' claims to fame, there are 2 "Coney Island" Restaurants, one open 24 hours. I've frequented that establishment the most at say, 2:30-3:00 a.m., and hardly ever ordered a Coney Dog or Burger at that hour, instead ordered breakfast...but during "Cruise Night" and sometimes when I'm over there and just get hungry for one, or two...all bets are off!
Their Fries, last I had them were fresh, not frozen and if the oil is new, they're GREAT! Frank 'n Burger in Minersville isn't bad, either...it's right on Route 901,
down from "Big Diamond Raceway".
Oh, they all sell BEER you can take out, too!

I am SOOOO looking forward to a Sheetz hotdog during my visit home. Steak sub, death dogs, and burgers are getting pounded!!
However, there's a small pizza shop in Nanty Glo called Al's Pizza. The stromboli's are the best I've ever had. I guarantee I'll be eating there at least once a day!! If I could freeze some and bring them with me, I would. If anyone gets the chance, go there. It's totally worth it. 814-749-0720 is the #. You WON'T regret it.

This thread made me hungry for one, so we stopped at Skinlow's during a ride for some chili dogs. They still do the cole slaw for $2.15 and they also added Tex-mex and Reubin style too.Jimi Hatt wrote:Does Inlow's still offer them with cole slaw? Sounds gross, but man oh man are they good! Sweet 'n salty, mmmmmmm.
I stopped at the Texas HD stand by the mall last summer and was so disappointed that I won't go back there. It wasn't even in the same league as Inlow's. Guess I'll have to try the one downtown.

Nah, Dino's at the Mall or Frank's (by the hospital) have my vote! Well, for typical pizza. But Dave's Gourmet (not sure if it's even still there?) in Mill Run has the best Chicken Alfredo pie.Imgrimm01 wrote:Best pizza in altoona Brothers station mall...
Not to mention, I witnessed some seriously unsanitary practices at the Brothers in the Station Mall about ten years ago and have never been back.

Texas Hotdogs' suck. I was never a fan of that place, especially their burgers, but my grandfather loved them. Now, a place that was greasy as all get out (and one of the few resteraunts where the customers didn't know it was on fire!!!!!!!!) was Btars!!!!!!!
That was an awesome place to eat.

I have no idea where Imler's is at,
but I've passed Texas Hot Dogs numerous times...just yesterday, as a matter of fact
and even though the word "Texas" conjures up horrible flashbacks from the years I lived there
, I'm just going to HAVE to stop on in and try one, one day soon, to see if'n I like 'em, or not.

Re: hmmmmm...
If you mean Inlow's, its about 1/4 mile from the Duncansville intersection of old routes 22/220 and 764. You go towards Newry 1/4 mile from the Pizza Hut and its on the left...right across the highway from the old Warnaco warehouse.YankeeRose wrote:I have no idea where Imler's is at,

I like Texas Hot Dogs (cheese & everything), and as far as pizza I like the shop in Williamsburg. Also, because pizza is my favorite food, my bf took me on the mc to Cove Forge by Scranton to the Pizza Capital of America, this little town is called. A little Italian town with a bunch of pizza shops that compete against each other, truly the best pizza I've found. Anyone been there?
Dave & Linda are family, and yea their pizza was GREAT. I think the gourmet toppings were too fancy for this plain Jane town. LOVED this pizza, and yea they closed. But Dave's Gourmet (not sure if it's even still there?) in Mill Run has the best Chicken Alfredo pie.

Thanks lonewolf...yeah, I meant Inlow's, Dummy me!
I'll have to write those directions down though, I'll never remember them
otherwise! If my one friend can loan me her car, I'll be in "Altunea" late this afternoon for my daughter's Orthodontist appt., so maybe today's the day for a TX Dog???
ZappasX, Pizza is my favorite too...a little thicker crust over paper thin, though (I don't like "floppy" Pizza!), lots of sauce and/or a "good" Sicillian or
Chicago style, "fuhget about it"!
If you say Williamsburg has good Pizza, I'll have to try it, indeed! "Cove Forge"...other than a few concerts I went to in '99 and 2000 in Scranton, I've not had much inclination to visit that area.
Staind and Disturbed were the last two bands I wanted to see and their names sound like my last 2 "Xs"! Hee, hee, hee... The last concert I saw there was Type O- one of the "disturbed" X's favorites...and I took the schmuck. I've wanted to visit Steamtown, one of these days, maybe...but now that I know there's a "Pizza CAPITAL" nearby Scranton, I'll have to check Cove Forge out, for certain - THANKS!
"Hot Dogs"..."Pizza"...I'm getting hungrier by the minute!!!

Yeah baby!
I went to Texas Hot Dogs yesterday
and had not just one with chili and cheese, but 2 and they were GREAT!
I scarfed 'em in no time flat.
Well, I "was" hungry. I got a small order of fries too, but next time, I think I'll just get 2 dogs and a burger.

Karen and I stop at the Coney after a j-town gig and they are very good she likes the sundowner better if you are over there it would be worth the stop. I cant compare it to the other places mentioned because I never tried them but, I am looking forward to giving them a tryJim Price wrote:Vin, my last Inlow's dog was two summers ago. At least at that point, it was still good stuff.
My older brother swears by the Coney in Johnstown; I haven't tried the dogs there yet.
