Ah Yes!! The "O"!!! It has been a while, wouldn't mind going back again sometime - especially for the fries!!

O fries friggin' rule.

I'm not a big fan of hot dogs though. Never had one there. I work less than a mile away from this place.

My father-in-law has hot dogs made from venison at a local butcher shop and, let me tell you, them boys is tasty ... no mechanically-separated chicken in those bad boys.

I do happen to enjoy the occasional hot dog and I prefer it with a large mound of sauerkraut! But, I prefer kielbasa and sauerkraut over hot dogs anyday. Sheetz needs to come out with a kielbasa MTO, that would rule!

My favorite topping on a hot dog, is cheese, ketchup, mustard, and... ramen noodles.

Yeah, sounds nasty, but seriously, try it sometime! It is the food of the Gods. :)

If you're in Chicago, don't ever put ketchup on your hotdog. It could get you beat up... or worse.

Those of you who gre up here probably don't realize it and especially those of you have never ventured farther from home than philly or the burgh but there is a very special place here in Altoona

TEXAS HOT DOGS,

I've eaten Nathans' and Dodger Dogs and Paco's Hungarian Hot Dogs (Yes, it exists, in Toledo Ohio) and chilidogs of all sorts in cities as far away as Detroit and Cincinnati, (where they pride themselves of their chili dogs), West coast hot dogs, with the aformentioned Dodger dog exception, suck, but They make a pretty good dog in Kansas City and there's a place in Rome NY called "Fric and Frac's Flying Food Factory" that makes a jumbo dog that even I can't eat 2 of but . . .

Our own, Texas Hot Dogs, right by the mall, been there since the pilgrims, little hot dog stand, is something special.

Ladies and Gentleman, I say Ye

Texas Hot Dogs is freakin' awesome. I used to eat them all the time when I was a kid. I need to hit that place next week when we are in town to play a show at the Jaggard United Methodist Church located at
17th St. and Pleasant Valley Blvd., next friday, the 17th.

I think I just found my dinner for the evening. Excellent...

Don't forget about Inlow's in Duncansville, the home of the foot-long hot dog. Lace one of those babies up with chili and onion, and you're good to go!

If you're down with chilidogs, it certainly does. It almost kills me to say such blasphemous things against Sheetz, but it is true. I will make sure that you get a Texas Hot Dog while we're in Altoona, Eric. It's tasty.

Vin, my last Inlow's dog was two summers ago. At least at that point, it was still good stuff.

My older brother swears by the Coney in Johnstown; I haven't tried the dogs there yet.

yes vinnie

Post by Imgrimm01 »

Yes Vinnie I will not argue thos texas dogs are great, like Bobby I enjoy the intown shop a little more. not as clean and bright and as we all know the best food comes from the places that have just a little dirt and grime to them. If you don't believe me here's a test... Have brothers pizza anywhere and then have brithers in the station mall I GUARANTEE the station mall will be better. Best pizza in altoona Brothers station mall... By the slice though not whole pie, that for some reason makes it taste different.

I totally agree with you man. There's just something different about the pizza by the slice at Brother's in the Station Mall. It's so good. I did make the mistake of ordering a whole pie once and it just paled in comparison to the slices. What's up with that?

Yep, they're a treat, but if you grew up in D-Ville in earlier times, they were better known for their variety of coin-operated dispensers in the rest rooms and thus the local nickname--Skinlow's.
