What's everybody's favorite albums so far this year? There's been a lot of good stuff out so far.

My 5 are...

1) Comeback Kid-Wake The Dead
2) Overkill-Relix
3) Judas Priest-AOR
4) Throwdown-Vendetta
5) SOAD-Mezmerize

I can name one that I really think is excellent and that is the new
Breakin Benjamin album, that dude can sing. Also the new System of a Down album in sweet. And actually Green Day's American Idiot album is a brilliant album from front to back.

Totally agree on Relix and Priest! Haven't heard the other 3. Although I saw S.O.A.D. on TV and thought they sucked. Not sure what song it was.

The Eyeliners - No Apologies
Snuff - Greatest Hits

There's more I've heard, but haven't purchased...

Billy No Mates, The Unseen, Avenged Sevenfold, & The Transplants should all be awesome.

These are in no order:

1. Soilwork
2. Mudvayne
3. Mushroomhead (not new, but just picked it up about 3 months ago)
4. Not out yet but I know I'll love it - new Static-X (comes out next
Tuesday).
5. Also not out yet - new Staind (looking forward to seeing if they went
all light stuff or if they still rock).

The old man and I are digging on the new Mars Volta. I'm not SURE its their latest, but my kid turned me on to MOE - WORMWOOD; I really like that. Must check them out with the Allman Bros in July.

Go ahead, laugh now.

Okay.

I'm looking forward to the new CD from Tommy Lee, "Tommyland: The Ride" due out in August. I played the first single, "Tryin' To Be Me" at work, and it just out and out kicked ass! Better than anything else he's done solo, and I'm looking forward to the new CD.

Honorable Mention:

The new Dream Theater
Static X (the new single ROCKS)
SOD's second new one due out in October, "Hypnotize". It's supposed to be totally different from "Mezmerize".
Dood...

There hasn't been much that's caught my interest yet in 2005... this is the best I can come up with:

Ryan Adams & the Cardinals - Cold Roses, Mercury Rev - Secret Migration, Four Tet - Everything Ecstatic, Gorillaz - Demon Days, Beck - Guero

Honorable mention: Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band - Horses in the Sky

And it's not out yet, but I'm pretty sure the new Les Claypool (Gabby Lala) and the new String Cheese Incident will dethrone 2 of the top 5.

Didn't know Stormtroopers of Death had a new one out. SOAD has one with the same title.

Sorry to revive a post that's several days old, but I just got The Chris Stamey Experience's "A Question of Temperature." It's actually Chris Stamey backed by Yo La Tengo and the drummer from the dB's but it is a damn good album that is definitely making my best-of-2005.
