Hey everybody,
I'm new to this area. Moved here from New York City where I was in a fairly successful original band. I noticed some of the past posts were about the dying rock scene around Johnstown, PA. Well, let me tell you about my experience this weekend.
I traveled to a town called Ebensburg, not to far from Johnstown, and found a bar called Yesterday's Party that had been recommended to me. I saw a band there that at first glance looked like it was going to be very average (your average young guys), however, they turned out to be one of th most energetic, musically sound bands I seen in awhile. This band would very easily make it in other major cities with their original music, but said they were playing bars around Johnstown, Altoona, and Pittsburgh for now. Anyway, the name of the band was Third Standard. The singer was right on the whole night, dancing and singing always on key. The lead guitarist was a shorter guy who played amazing riffs and sang some good harmonies. The bass player was steady and well received, earning a life sized poster from the bartenders and staff. The drummer gave them a great rock backbone. The crowd and venue loved them, even their original music. I noticed that this town is trying to show support for the local rock scene so here is my two cents about a MUST SEE band. This site siad they will be on the radio this weekend, so I"ll be listening. Any other bands I should check out now that I'm around? Also, if anyone needs a guitarist/bass player let me know.

Yo...there's this band called "IN" that kick major ass!!!!
What???
That was a sameless plug a?
Seriously I've heard that same things about Third Standard from other people....but there are plenty of really great bands in and around the Altoona, State College, Johnstown area. MY personal favorites include Gin & Juice, Felix and The Huricanes, 4 Days Dirty, The Nightcrawlers, Backstreet Law, Emily's Toybox....all these bands, and many more, have great talent. Make sure to get out to see them....all the bands in this area are great...just depends on what you like. Rock On Y'all!!! \m/(><)\m/
